Re: It REALLY IS scary IMO

There's no question whatsoever - Google, Apple, Microsoft, etc - they all spy on you 24/7. Facebook listens in even when it's turned off. Everything is spyware. Candy Crush? Spyware. We live in a literal surveillance state. Even with your phone turned off, there are ways to track it. Deep state corr...

Re: Family woes.. Boo hiss..

It does sound like a very frustrating situation. Personally, I would want regular updates from someone, regardless of whether there was anything new to report. No news is good news, but you still gotta hear that there's no news. I hope this situation turns around for the better. Dealing with family ...

Re: Family woes.. Boo hiss..

Glad to see you spoke with your brother. Was it MRSA he had? Yikes! Like I said, lots of nutritional supplements out there that can help depression (cutting edge research is showing that many if not most cases of depression have their roots in nutritional imbalances and brain inflammation). If you w...

Re: Family woes.. Boo hiss..

Damn! That totally sucks! Do you know if it was adult onset diabetes? If so, you can manage it to a large degree. Is there any other family nearby that can check in on him and help with the situation? When you say he is in and out of consciousness - was he in a coma, or just recovering from surgery?...

Re: ADND in the new.. POSITIVE that is!!

In my day, no one I know was shunned, bullied, or treated like losers for it. In any case, none of that impacts the fact that when you try to appeal to the larger masses, you have to, by default, water/dumb down the thing you're marketing. You know, reading your post again, it sounds as if you...

Re: ADND in the new.. POSITIVE that is!!

Not to be the party-pooper, but I don't think becoming mainstream is a good thing. Any time you take a generally niche market and try to make it "mainstream", we get what we see with 3E/4E/5E, comics, etc. A watering/dumbing down. Catering to the masses by default means dumbing it down.

Re: Sold my 3rd Ed crap

It's so odd - I always feel like the odd man out. Despite UA being known for falling apart, none of the copies I've ever had (or still have) are in any way loose. They're fresh as the day they were bought. Same for everyone else I know that has one. But when it comes to Oriental Adventures, both my ...

Re: Sold my 3rd Ed crap

I'm wondering why that happens. A lot of people seem to run into that. I can't recall a book I've had that's fallen apart like that, though. One of my over-used original 2E PHBs is getting loose in a sense of it's not tight but there are no pages falling out. I wonder if it's a storage issue? My hou...

Re: Sold my 3rd Ed crap

I honestly don't think that's the case. When there was 1E/2E stuff, most of it was clearly used, and it would be hit or miss. They might have a handful of items at best. When the 3E+ crap came out, the shelves were (and remain) flooded with a constant influx of 3E+ material. I've never seen an editi...
