Re: Who is actually Gaming?

I'm running four games here at Planet; two Dragonlance, two homebrewed.

Re: Old School Flame wars

I agree with Stik. The BMP was bad enough; I learned to just avoid it. But the vitriol tended to spill out into the rest of the forums, too. It's a big part of why I left Planet the first time, to be honest. It just wasn't a fun community. People tended to hassle me quite a bit because I had the aud...

No problem. I've moderated a few forums in my day, and have since developed a sixth sense for sniffing out spambots. I'm like a Blade Runner!

I am 95% sure that benson0729 is a spambot. The fact that it is advertising goldfarming in its signature is a pretty big red flag there.

Yeah, they call them healing surges. The character can heal himself whenever he wants, assuming he still has healing surges remaining. I think the surges regenerate every time the character rests, so unless you're really getting pounded, you tend not to run out. All clerics and other healers do is t...

That's been my experience so far. The vast majority of posts at the Order of the Stick forums are still 3E related, for instance. A recent poll at the Dragonlance forums asked people which edition they play and 10 said AD&D, 8 said 4E, and 33 said 3E. While I don't think 4E is in any danger of d...

From what I understand, while 4E is all shiny and new, a surprisingly large number of people are still playing 3E. So people do still use it, no worries there.

I've never played WoW, so I can't answer that with any accuracy. Someone far more knowledgeable about 4E will have to field that one instead.

Actually, I'm no expert on 3E either. I'm a 2E man. But from my understanding, yes, 3.5E is just a slightly tweaked version of 3E.

4E is completely different from 3E. We're talking huge overhaul. Much bigger than the 2E to 3E changeover was. Also, I suppose which of them is 'best' is largely subjective. I guess it depends on what type of game you want. 3E is a bit grittier than 4E, from what I understand. 4E is also more rules-...

Yeah, I've always felt the same way, CK. I'd get really touchy if some stranger started using my own worlds and changing things around, so I feel kind of weird doing it to other people's settings.

Yeah, that confuses me, too. What does he mean by 'done'? Is a campaign world ever truly done? It seems like they would continue to develop and grow forever, or die out.

Dragonlance, Greyhawk, and Forgotten Realms were all created before WotC took over. They were all originally 1E settings.
