Millennials Playing D&D Confused by Concept of Long Rest

It's funny because it's devastatingly true.

Re: Clerics and scrolls of other gods..

Is that how scrolls even work, though? You aren't praying to a god to cast from them, after all. And scrolls can be used by thieves and bards (of a certain level), so would that restriction apply to them, as well?

Re: Clerics and scrolls of other gods..

I've never done anything like that. Depending on the setting, such a rule would be pretty harsh. In my homebrew world, for instance, there are only four gods. So that's a 1/4 chance a priest scroll would work for you. But say, in Dragonlance, where there are 16-18 gods (depending on the era) or Forg...

She ate the heart? I mean...at least she had the sense to cook it first, but...where did she even learn that? Not from SpongeBob, I'd wager!

I was 13 when I first started playing.

Re: Halloween

But even so, that's one kid out of millions, right? The odds of this happening seem very slim. Honestly, your kids are much more likely to be shot in a school shooting than having to worry about this. :(

Re: Halloween

I can't find any substantiated claims of anyone giving out bad candy in the States, either. I even tried to google the Seattle story RPG Dinosaur mentioned, and couldn't find anything. (Also, as a kid myself, my parents never checked my candy and I never ran into any problems, nor heard of anyone el...

Re: Halloween

There's a mall not far from my place, and I think most people nowadays just take their kids there, as all the stores will give out candy. It's warmer, bad weather isn't an issue, it's well lit, etc. So probably why I don't see many or even any trick o' treaters any more these days.

Everybody have a good Halloween? I didn't get a single trick o'treater this year, probably because it was so cold last night.

Re: Maps, tiles, or theater of the minds eye?

Way, way back in the day when I still ran face-to-face games back in high school, we didn't use maps miniatures or anything like that. I guess you'd call it 'theater of the mind.' We just didn't really pay much attention to things like spell range or character movement speed. Nowadays, with my games...

I actually don't like coffee, at all. The very scent of the beans makes me a bit nauseous, in fact.

Re: 42nd Anniversary of the term Jump the Shark

Fun Fact: The opposite of 'jumping the shark' (the specific point where a show's decline in quality can be easily observed as having started) is 'growing the beard' (the specific point when a show's increase in quality can be easily observed as having started). It comes from Star Trek: The Next Gene...

Now that you mention it, I did once run a game with two Travis's. But one of him preferred to go by William anyway, so it wasn't a hassle.

Re: Renaissance Fair D&D

The one I am referring to is the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire. They have it every August for three weekends.

And I saw a few people dressed up at the D&D tent. I remember a woman dressed as a tiefling, and another dressed as an elf.
