Chime of opening and armor??

Postby garhkal » Fri Jun 30, 2017 1:41 am

Would you say a Chime of opening, since it unlocks chains, padlocks etc, could unstrap the armor on an enemy and cause his armor to drop??

Probably not. I'm reading it as more specific to portals and chests and things.

If someone did allow it the victim would definitely get a save.

I'd say no as well. The description talks about locks, lids, doors, valves, bars, shackles, chains, bolts, wizard lock, etc. All that indicates things that are locked or barred. Armor is worn, sometimes with the use of straps, but worn. So I'd say no, it doesn't affect armor. There was a spell, and I'll be damned if I can think of it right now, but it loosened straps on armor and things like that. I'd say that is a very different use.

A side note - how loud is a chime of opening, and will it attract monsters? My initial thoughts are yes, it would.
