As the rats runs from the fire Sue, even as he gets burnt, takes the opportunity to slice some with his halberd. [#R1, 4 slash]

Round 3
Woody moves the Flaming Sphere further along the ledge to try and burn away some fungal barrier and then casts Burning Hands, instantly dispatching two stirges and scorching some of his swarming rats. [#S5 & #S6 die], [#R1, 5 fire]

Twenty feet away, with swinging mace and flurried blows Jim kills his three stirges. [#S1, #S2 & #S3 die]
The hungry rats [#R3] gnaw the paladin's breastplate before he slices them to bits. [#R3,4, 7 slash]

Perhaps put off by being scorched again Woody's rats snap at him ineffectually and then run away.
The hungry strige also fails to wound the mage. It flies off in the direction taken by the rats.

End of combat

Woody 20
Jim 19
R3 10 [Dead]
Sue 9
R1 7 [Fleeing]
S4 4
S1-3 [Dead]
S5-6 [Dead]

Burning Hands on a swarm in the caster's square is a new one on me. Going to say that swarm gets advantage and resistance unless the caster decides to include (part of) himself in which case he gets advantage & resistance but the swarm has neither.
R1 DEX DC 15 adv [1d20] = 14, [1d20] = 11
R3 bites [1d20+2] = 2+2 = 4, [1d6] = 5
R1 bites [1d20+2] = 7+2 = 9, [1d6] = 6
S4 v Woody [1d20+5] = 6+5 = 11, [1d4+3] = 3+3 = 6

Woody may use his reaction to make an Attack of Opportunity against the fleeing rats [#R1]

Everyone gains +100xp each.

It smoulders.

Do you want to use average damage? Or to rol it for the rest of the spell's duration?

Is there still the vibrating mound? Is the screaming continuing?

Average damage is fine. Woody will continue burning it for the rest of the 1 minute casting time. 8 more rounds. Hopefully that will make a large enough walkway for the party. Average damage to all. DC 15 save for Dex if required.
"Sue and Jim" how badly hurt are you both? Do you need any healing I have a few potions that I purchases."

"Nothing a quick rest won't take care of. Try to get close to that." He will point out the vibrating spot no matter if it is or isnt.

He will start to hack at it with his Glaive again.

I still have some of these mushrooms left. Jim pulls out a handful of the grey fungus from the undermountain and starts to munch on it while watching for danger while his companions deal with this other fungus.
Mushroom heal: [1d4] = 1 I believe a result of 1 requires a d20 roll so here is [1d20] = 9
OOC - I do not know how much time will pass here but Jim will be chewing on fungus until he feels better or the group moves on or are interrupted
Mushroom heal: [1d4] = 1 oh shit [1d20] = 14
Mushroom heal: [1d4] = 3
Mushroom heal: [1d4] = 3
Mushroom heal: [1d4] = 3
That is a total of 11 out of 12 damage healed with 5 mushrooms consumed

Jim will also take the time to swap out his normal mace for the enchanted +1 matte black mace he picked up from the undermountain jaunt. (Forgot to do that before)

Sue stands guard while Jim eats and Woody directs his Sphere.

The sphere's heat causes the damp fungal mass nearby to steam, slowly then violently before shrivelling and burning to blackness. The shrieking continues. Sue directs Woody to burn the vibrating filamental mound and the shreeching lessens although still continues. The Sphere has cleared seven or eight feet of ledge. The drying of the fungus on the ledge emits a cloud of fine, gray airborne matter. Jim has had time to consume four mushrooms. Not much can be seen beyond the light of the Flaming Sphere.

======
The Sphere can last for another 3rounds and clear another three or four squares.
Everyone give me a saving throw versus poison, please.

Jim and Woody both cough and splutter as the cloud of fine, gray airborne matter passes them.
It doesn't appear to both Sue though, and the paladin stows his weapon and ambles forwards, climbing up onto the biomass as Woody continues to burn away the fungal mass.

Sue has the poisoned condition and can make a CON saving throw (now) to try and shrug it off.
Jim and Woody are as yet unaware of this although they may suspect something is amiss.
