Is Sue now standing on the biomass and it is not hurting him? "Sue is that biomass ok to stand on?"

Sue has climbed onto the 5' high biomass. So far he does not appear to have been hurt by standing on it. He has to stoop to avoid the curved ceiling.
The paladin makes no reply.

OOC - do we see the expression on Sue's face? ie blank or animated? Can we determine if Sue is moving toward a feature? ie vibrating part of the fungus?

"Sue? You found something?"

Jim will finish off the last piece of mushroom he was going to eat (the fifth roll from the mushroom rolls Jim initially rolled) while attempting to keep an eye on the progress of Woody's burning ball, Sue, and the surroundings.

Sue started off ahead of Woody and Jim and didn't look backards so it may be too difficult to tell. [Success at disadvantaged Perception skill check AND an average Insight skill check is needed.]

Not from where you stand, but it does seem to be purposeful movement.

No reply; no look backwards.

Woody wants to cast mage hand and tap Sue on the shoulder. Attempting to get Sue`s attention.

"What's Sue doing? Something must be wrong with him? Jim are you going to climb up on that fungus to get Sue." "If Sue can climb on it, maybe we can climb on it and walk pasted it?"

Post subject:  Re: Chapter 2 - Getting to the bottom of it?

While munching a mushroom Jim stares at Sue's back, his attempts at communication ignored.
Meanwhile Woody advances the Flaming Sphere, clearing another few feet of ledge and causing more to steam and shrivel. He then casts a Mage Hand and taps Sue on the shoulder but without any obvious response or reaction.. The mage enquires, "What's Sue doing? Something must be wrong with him? Jim, are you going to climb up on that fungus to get Sue? If hecan climb on it, maybe we can climb on it and walk past it?"

Jim realises that something is wrong with Sue when the paladin walks into the scorching zone around the Flaming Sphere.
Woody can just see the tips of orange-tinted fronds momentarily flick up at Paladins's chest. Jim isn't quite tall enough to see this over the five foot high barrier.

Damage Flaming Sphere: [2d6] = 7

"Jim let's start moving. We need to go after Sue". Woody want to use the use his full movement to climb and go after Sue. "Jim, you are much faster then me. You need to stop Sue.Get up on that mound and go after him. I will be right behind you. Let see if we can hold him back."

Jim will follow the burnt path forward and get up onto the light gray area that Sue is on as soon as he can and rush Sue. With Woody's words in mind, and knowing Sue isn't responding to him, Jim does the only thing he can think of to stop Sue. Jim attacks Sue with mace, fist and foot hoping to knock him prone at the least and unconscious if he can.3

attack #1
To Hit: [1d20+9] = 18+9 = 27 , Mace Damage: [1d6+6] = 3+6 = 9

ki point spent for flurry of blows
flurry #1
To Hit: [1d20+8] = 20+8 = 28 , Unarmed Damage: [1d6+5] = 5+5 = 10 plus crit damage crit damage: [1d6] = 5 plus a Dexterity (DC14) saving throw or be knocked prone.
flurry #2
To Hit: [1d20+8] = 5+8 = 13 , Unarmed Damage: [1d6+5] = 2+5 = 7 an advantage attack roll if Sue is prone, Adv attack roll: [1d20+8] = 12+8 = 20 plus a Dexterity (DC14) saving throw or be knocked prone if he isn't already prone

attack #2
To Hit: [1d20+9] = 5+9 = 14 , Mace Damage: [1d6+6] = 3+6 = 9 and an advantage attack roll if he is prone Adv attack roll: [1d20+9] = 9+9 = 18

If Sue is drops unconscious at any point during these attacks and stays down, Jim will not continue with the attacks.

Sue’s uncannily sure footing left deep impressions in the fungus without widespread fractures despite the poison attacking his mental faculties [-1 INT] and the scorching from the Flaming Sphere. [7 fire dam]

Round 11
Woody moves forwards and scrambles up onto the fungal barrier, crouching to avoid the curved ceiling. Pausing to advance the Flaming Sphere so that it won’t burn Sue, from the elevated position he sees a clump of orange-tinted fronds whipping back and forth, reaching for the motionless paladin.

Woody climbs down the couple of feet onto the biomass to make way for Jim. He belatedly notices that screeching seems to be coming from a coupler of adjacent vibrating filamental mounds.

Following Woody’s urgings, Jim effortlessly swarms up the barrier that’s nearly his own height, making best use of the flame-cleared path to close the distance and give his target, the 'frond-thing', a hammering. [Fronds: 9 crush, 14 crush, AC13 misses, AC14 misses] It is battered, many fronds snapped or broken, but is still agressively active. En route the monk’s sees the clump of aggressive orange-tinted fronds and five of the vibrating filamental mounds.

Sue, still poisoned, but no longer being scorched, stands stock still before finally shaking off the effects of the poison.

The orange-tinted fronds’ swinging gathers momentum and frantically they strike at Sue. [AC23, 4 pierce; AC26, crit! 6 pierce]
The five foot high banks at the edges of the biomass split and crack, disgorging shambling, dwarf-sized amber bipeds.

The southern pair attack Woody with their fists [#1: AC10, 10 HP crush] [#2: AC16, 3HP crush] while those from the north advance halfway towards Jim.

The Flaming Sphere expires and all fades into the greyness of Darkvision.
The shrieking continues. [Would someone please roll 1d12]

"What in the name of the Morning Lord am I doing up here? This does not seem to be going so well."

Sue will use Lay on Hands. 20 points worth.(Action)

He will then cast Shield of Faith.(Bonus)

Dropping his Glaive he will pull out his shield but not don it.(Free)

If this goes to plan he should be at 20 AC at the end of his turn. Getting ready to don his shield next round.

[1d12] = 5

Ok, thanks, edited into round 11 in red. Still need Jim's actions for round 12, please. If Jim's primary target expires, what would be his secondary target?
