"I wish we could solve it diplomatically but unfortunately they will never trust us." Tulbas says sadly.

"I didn't say their group is incopetent, some of them are incredibly dangerous just that..." And that's all Haahqae manages to get in before the groups unexpectedly meet.

Damn, didn't have time to find a good hiding spot; doesn't this group have scouts? Any sort of warning system?I just hope we can live through today. Magnus might just vaporize all of us with a single spell.

If William can do what he claims and take Magnus and Tulbas out of the fight; the terrain might be good enough to make this not a total disaster; with the narrow bridge across the sewer sludge. Their main advantage is their casters and their melee; so anything to slow down the fight and give our archers a chance is a good advantage.

Haahqae looks around to see if he can find anything to use to his advantage. Is there a ledge he can climb up to (with spider climb)? Anything hanging above he might be able to hit/knock down with an arrow? Any residents of the sewers he might be able to piss off and aim at the other group?

Once he has a good idea of his surroundings; Haahqae will pull out his bow and aim at the first one of his enemies to present itself as a good target. It doesn't matter much to him if that's Burzan, Raena, Xyleena or Yvette. (only shoot one of those 4).

"There is no possible way you could know that," Kendra says to Tulbas. "And now we will never know."

Gobax gestures (cupping his ear) and motions to the way the others went to see if the dwarf will help him listen

Haahqae, Kendra and Tulbas (Sewers)
Nora is the first to act, praying to Takhisis for aid. But it does not seem to work.

Raena hurries out onto the bridge, reaching the other side and slashing at Miriam with her twin axes, but is unable to get past the woman's defenses.

Kendra waits where she is (as her player never actually declared an action).

Magnus casts a spell, and as a result, his skin becomes grey and stone-like.

Miriam counterattacks Raena, but the nimble dwarf is able to evade her sword.

Yvette steps out onto the bridge and fires her crossbow at Miriam, but it just glances off her shield.

Tulbas casts a spell, and two beams of energy erupt from his hands, arc across the room, and strike the man carrying a long sword.

Burzan moves across the bridge, then swings his maul at Miriam over Raena's head. But Miriam's defenses seem impenetrable at this point.

Pen moves to get a good shot at Yvette, then uses his sithak as a sling and strikes her with a rock. She cries out, more in annoyance than anything. "You little rat!"

Sadron the elf moves forward, striking at Burzan with his twin long swords, fighting in the exact same style as Kendra, but is unable to hit the half-ogre.

Xyleena moves onto the bridge and fires her crossbow at Pen in vengeance, but the kender dodges.

Finally, Haahqae and the eye patch woman, Fiona, move a bit to get a good shot, then both fire at Xyleena, leaving her wounded. The gnome doesn't see any ledges or sewer residents to upset at the moment.

(OOC: Actions for Round 2?)

Gobax and Shima (Resistance Safehouse)
Listening at the trap door in the floor, it sounds like a battle has broken out. There's shouting, spell chanting, cries of pain and the clash of weapons heard.

Gobax curses quietly and climbs down carefully to get a closer look.

Once he sees the fighting, he knows he must act. He had been so stunned before, which had been foolish... of course anyone knowing what he was about to do might call him a fool anyway.. but that was neither here nor there.

[If possible time-wise and he is not discovered by the battle distracted people]

the goblin uses the column (wall? Square directly northeast of the ladder) for cover.

As quietly as possible, he moves to the west side of the column (1 square north of the ladder) and peeks around the corner to cast his spell at the two closest to him (Nora and Magnus).

====
Grubnick casts Hold Person at Nora and Magnus
only 2 targets, so -1 to each of their saves

Having only the specifically-bought long cloak pin, Shima applies his poison to it.

======
OOC: I suspect that even if he makes a successful Use Poison skill check there's a 25% chance of Shima poisoning himself as he's not an Assassin.

Of course the heartless bastards that form the red army would start a fight without even demanding a surrender beforehand. Not that it mattered, if we had surrendered it would just be a farce and they would execute us. It’s better to have a fighting chance. Of course it was Raena bounding across the bridge that would start off the fight.

I just hope that William guy can keep up his end of the bargain; Magnus is gearing up to be unstoppable already.

The fun part was that Haahqae managed to stick an arrow in Xyleena. She was never a good archer, and now she was showing her weakness.

“This one’s for lying to me.” Haahqae announces as he looses another arrow, although someone would actually have to be listening to him to hear it over the din of battle.

Actions: Shoot twice at Xyleena (if target is available, otherwise shoot at Yvette, Burzan, Raena or Magnus if targets are available). Then move back to the south-east corner (if allowed while shooting twice).

Kendra past the two women on the bridge (as they are now drawing fire from the archers on the "enemy" side), and runs past Raena so that she can get to Sadron. She hesitates for a moment before she finally attacks him using the techniques that he taught her so long ago. She didn't want it to turn out like this, but what choice did she have?

Tulbas debate his next action for few moments. He is teared in the situation fighting with the people he considered his friends. He is pretty sure they feel the same, although they might hate him as the black robes represent evil. Eventually he decides on casting the 'Sleep' spell. He is not sure if it will work as it is quite limited spell, but if it will, it can give his opponents-friends a chance at survival.

==================================================================
(OOC: Tulbas casts Sleep centered on the farthest south eastern corner.

"And this is for insulting us!" Yvette calls back to Haahqae before she begins chanting a spell. A single missile of energy erupts from her hands and flies to Haahqae, slamming hard into his chest. Meanwhile, the cleric of Takhisis walks out onto the bridge and heals up Xyleena with a spell.

Raena continues attacking Miriam, making no gains. But likewise, Miriam has a hard time hitting the nimble dwarf. She is hit, however, by Burzan's great maul.

Kendra crosses the bridge and attacks Sadron, but he blocks both of her blades with his own. "Come to kill me with my own sword?" he asks, noting she is using the magical elven blade he gave her so long ago. "I'm sorry, Kendra, but I can't let you murder any more innocents." He counterattacks, and manages to cut her slightly across her upper left arm.

Magnus begins chanting, as well. "Kalith karan, tobanis-kar!" Four missiles erupt from his fingers. Two move to hit Miriam, while the other two hit Sadron. Likewise, Tulbas begins casting...but he seems to misjudge the thirty foot area of the spell, because when he is finished, both Haahqae and Raena suddenly drop to the ground, fast asleep.

While Shima coats his cloak pin with the poison the high priestess gave him, Gobax climbs down the ladder, takes cover behind the pillar, and then starts praying. He points at Magnus and Tulbas (Nora has already left the area), but nothing happens to either mage. Both seem to notice the feel of the spell wash over them, though. Magnus turns and shouts, "Watch out, there are more of them! We have another caster here!"

At the same time, William begins praying, as well. He points to the other side of the bridge, and suddenly that whole area goes deathly silent. Yvette, Nora, Tulbas and Magnus cannot speak or make any noise at all. Gobax notes he still can hear his own heartbeat, though--it looks like he is just outside the spell's range.

Pen continues firing his sithak at Xyleena, while Fiona changes targets and starts shooting at Nora.

"Fiona, wake up the gnome!" calls William. "I'll take care of their mages when they come out of hiding!"

She then slashes her elven long sword (+2 hit/dmg) at Sadron in studded leather (-2 hit) with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) and strength (+1 dmg) [TH 12] (1d20+1): 10+1 = 11, bare miss. She then slashes her masterwork long sword (+1 hit/dmg) at Sadron in studded leather (-2 hit) with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) and strength (+1 dmg) [TH 12] (1d20): 4, miss.
Magnus casts Magic Missile, sending two at Miriam and two at Sadron. Miriam takes (2d4+2): 2,2+2 = 6 damage and Sadron takes (2d4+2): 4,3+2 = 9 damage. Miriam becomes lightly wounded and Sadron becomes moderately wounded.
Miriam slashes her magic long sword (+1 hit/dmg) with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) and strength (+1 dmg) at Raena who is in chain mail (-2 hit) [TH 14] (1d20+1): 7+1 = 8, miss.

Sadron slashes his long sword at Kendra in studded leather (-2 hit) [TH 13] (1d20-2): 15-2 = 13, hit for (1d8): 3 damage. He then slashes his secondary long sword at Kendra in studded leather (-2 hit) [TH 13] (1d20-2): 11-2 = 9, miss.
Gobax climbs down the ladder and moves 5 feet north. He then casts Hold Person toward the mages. Tulbas saves vs. spell (1d20): 16 , pass. Magnus saves vs. spell (1d20): 15, pass.
William casts Silence 15' radius centered on the door on the other side of the bridge. Everyone within the radius is silenced.
Pen fires his sithak at Xyleena [TH 10] (1d20): 17, hit for (1d4+2): 1+2 = 3 damage. Xyleena becomes moderately wounded.
Xyleena fires her crossbow at Pen [TH 15] (1d20): 17, hit for (1d6): 4 damage. Pen becomes lightly wounded.
Fiona fires an arrow with great aim (+1 hit) at Nora who is wearing leather (+2 hit) and carrying a shield (-1 hit) [TH 11] (1d20+1): 8+1 = 9, miss.
Haahqae is asleep.

Hearing Magnus, Tulbas looks back. He recognizes Gobax and shakes his head in sorrow. He quickly takes himself in his hands and runs NW near the wall until he can hear his footsteps again, then he casts 'Shield' on himself.
'Forces of nature,
Turn to my side,
protect me from attacks,
as would a heavy hide.'

<edit>
If there is still time after casting the spell Tulbas will run on the bridge until out of the slience zone. If he can hide behind Xyleena he will and on the next round will cast another magic missile at William.
</edit>

As Haahqae sleeps; his dreams are troubled. There’s a battle high in the air, dragons lashing at eachother, on the ground a giant being consumed by darkness and many dark figures, hard to see but darting about, red eyes glowing. The dragons clash once more, the firey heat from their breath weapons seems to consume Haahqae as he watches.

Action: To sleep, - perchance to dream. Aye, there's the rub, for in this sleep of death what dreams may come.

Gobax tries the same again on the same two targets. silent they might be for now, but he preferred them completely immobilized. Sirrion, lend me your aid... he prays quietly before he repeats his spell.
