Boosted by her suprising luck the Bard holds her ground, her intent clear until she catches Pyros's call, realisng she was far from cover she begins a managed retreat, attempting to defend herself rather than attack.

Simple [1d20] = 3 Missed anyway.

Jerry climbs down to the ground, whispers to Pyros, "You cover north; I'll cover South." and moves south, getting morning star readied in hand, to stand just north of where the southern skeleton on the 1st tier would land if it climbs down immediately east. She hopes to whack the descending skeleton with as much advantage as she can.

Cross recalls Gar and waits, dagger in hand, for any clear opportunity. Seeing her brother weaponless, the dusky hued fighter sprints the short distance to thrust her rapier into the skeleton’s chest; resulting in a spray of splintered bone. Quickly Pytor snatches up his wayward Warhammer and hustles back to the cover of the canyon’s landscape. Mira, finding herself too exposed for comfort, retreats as well in favor of better protection as Merrick provides covering fire with his sling.

The spearless skeleton on the lowest tear climbs down; continuing its assault on Adrestia by closing the distance and clawing at her. The nimble gypsy woman narrowly avoids the bony fingers; blocking it from pursuing her allies. To the rear, Artanis fires his bow and lands a shot on one of the poised undead at the second tier. The arrow strikes true, but fails to down its quarry. Meanwhile, Pyros and Jerry move to intercept their respective opponents.

Above, the newly engaging skeletons hurl their spears at the Halfling Cleric and Vistani Fighter forming the remaining front line. The women avoid injury with armor and agility. I’ll cover you. Elsa says confidently to Adrestia, just as the well-aimed spear shatters against her shield. After the assault, the skeletons begin to lower themselves down. Jerry hunkers against the Ziggurat wall, waiting for the creature to pass her so she can strike from behind. An ill-timed swing causes her attack to barely nick a bleach-white shoulder, and the skeleton turns to face the now-visible Mystaran. Pyros crushes the hip of his own target just before it reaches ground.

Adran’s arrow finds the injured skeleton on the second tier; which promptly descends in pursuit of the militant wizard. Badly damaged, it touches the canyon floor only an instant before the kender’s knife destroys it. Those on the second tier appear a bit more sturdy. the Ranger muses aloud in a tone so the others can hear.

Elsa steps forward and bashes the bony assailant attacking Adrestia with her silver-studded mace. It crumbles in a heap; never to rise again. Artanis and Adran fire at the skeleton attacking the undead hunter; the ranger’s arrow doing significant damage while Adran’s does not.

Cross continues to wait under cover, or will advance if the bulk of the members advance.
Recalling and throwing his dagger if the opportunity presents itself.

Pyros on the other hand will wait, weapons ready pressed up against the wall of the Ziggurat to get the most cover he can.

"Dammit." Mira mutters, the Mace wasn't working, she had to act quickly, letting the heavy weapon fall for now she notches a quarrel and aims at the creatures on the second tier.

Once behind cover, Pytor takes a moment to restring his bow. "They don't appear to be actively guided or overly intelligent. We should continue to draw their spears from a distance. Then engage them again on foot before they can recover a weapon."

(I'm assuming that restringing is at least a full round action.)

Behind cover, Pytor digs through his pouches until he finds a spare bowstring. Carefully he restrings his bow, gradually stretching the new piece so that it adjusts properly to the strain of the powerful bow. Nearby, Gar chuckles amusedly in Cross’ hand; the sound echoing oddly in the canyon as Fenrir watches his master and adjusts his feathers nervously.

Jerry crushes her opponent with a well-aimed swing from her magical Morningstar. Seeing the creature defeated, Adrestia begins to withdraw towards the rest of the group, We should get back to cover for now… She calls out to the others, joining Artanis back in the canyon passage to the East. Merrick and Mira both fire at one of the skeletons on the second tier, their combined efforts destroying it.

Artanis and Adran fire as well, though the ranger manages only a glancing blow and the elven mage loses his grip, sending his weapon clattering to the ground. The creature responds in-kind by hurling the bone-spear at the half-elven Druid; but the distance and cover render the attack ineffectual. The newly unarmed skeleton scrambles down to the first tier before descending to the canyon floor. Pyros hustles over just as it touches-ground, clipping it with his gold-studded club.

Elsa, seeing yet another undead amongst her allies, charges forward with a wordless cry. With a powerful overhead strike she pulverizes the sun-bleached skeleton’s skull, neck and collar into dust. High above, the creatures on the second tier move to fill in the gaps left by those destroyed.

Jerry moves 60' to the east and then sends a pair of aquamarine darts of energy to hit the two nearest 'standing' skeletons.

Pyros stays in the cover of Tier 1, and waits for any more skeletons to try and make their way down. Crushing any that come to ground level.

Cross and Adrestia hold their positions, ready to defend the archers if any skeletons come close. Pytor unleashes an arrow, cleanly striking one of the skeletons on the second tier. Hurrying back to rejoin the archers, Jerry produces her own brand of missile fire in the form of a pair of turquoise bolts of pure magic! The force missiles fly unerringly to their targets, destroying the damaged skeleton on the ziggurat and badly damaging another. Merrick follows up by finishing the wounded undead. The remaining archers fire as well, though Mira’s bolt misses the mark and the bowmen of Elven stock land only glancing shots.

The two skeletons in view of the party retaliate in-kind by hurling their spears at the Bard and Ranger; though distance and cover render both attacks ineffectual. Seeking to close the distance, the pair lower themselves ponderously down the structure. One of the creatures moves off towards the Archers. Gar cackles in Cross’ grip. What is so funny? He asks. Hehehee… because things are finally getting INTERESTING!! the dagger replies. The white-haired elf hurls the talking dagger at the approaching skeleton, sinking it into the bleach-white skull with a solid TOK! HAHAhahaha! Take THAT bone-monkey!

Adrestia leaps forward, cutting the still-advancing undead off from contact with the archers. Her magical rapier quickly finds its mark, splitting the bony pate in two with a powerful slash; freeing the dagger Gar who giggles uncontrollably. The dusky-hued fighter gives the knife and it’s rolling eye a look of concern; to which Gar replies only with increasing amusement.

Pyros covers near the wall, and takes advantage of the second incoming enemy by winding up to strike. Just as the skeleton reaches the ground, the Kender bashes his gold-studded club into its side; nearly destroying it in one blow! The badly damaged undead turns, preparing to attack the halflings. Artanis looses another arrow, striking the creature down with an expert shot through the temple that lands hard enough to pin the skull to the Ziggurat wall! The remainder of it tumbles to the ground, leaving the head attached to the hard baked adobe. Pytor and Adran fire again as more skeletons form up on the second tier. Their arrows fly in unison to drop yet another of the bony guardians.

[Yes, Gar spoke aloud not only in Cross’ head. Yes, everyone taking cover near the cliffs could hear that… :satan: ]
