yeah, i saw the damage, but that has nothing to do with the slow effect, and since dissipation was directly tied to a successful hit in the flavor it begged clarification.

It's been pointed out to me that once a creature's initiative is determined for an encounter then that value is permanent for the encounter.
On reflection I agree.

Impact is that a creature must make its movement (if any) and action on its turn in the initiative order. The action mat be a 'Ready' action, i.e a statement of "...if XX then I will do YY...".
The XX triggers a reaction (if available) which can only be the YY action. This reaction is a simple action, NOT an action plus a move, although the action can be to move up to one's speed.

Updated: I have edited out my errors. I think it does not affect PCs adversely.

I'm traveling around north Scotland returning late next weekend. Reception here is mostly G. Don't have books with me. I will resume when I get home.

Back. Was tired yesterday after a 6 hour drive so I didn't get to do anything on here.

Moving on, I need to update you that Jenara has decided to withdraw from this game. I will do my best to NPC Alecia at least until such time as the party move out of Undermountain.

Bonus action to give Jim his mace? Akin to drawing a weapon.

Woody fires off his bolt in bright light. I treat bright light as disabling darkvision. (I've added a post & table in the "General Campaign Information..." thread. I hope that helps clarify.) With his DV disabled, Woody is firing at a target in dim light, ie lightly obscured, hence at disadvantage.

Chris, the rules state that "Lightly Obscured Condition" is as follows: Areas with light obscurity, such as dim light, patchy fog, or moderate foliage cause disadvantage on sight-based perception checks.

I agree completely, this is as cited in paragraph 2 of PHB183 "Vision & Light".
The second and third lines of the first paragraph say "...hitting an enemy in combat, and targeting a spell..."

Again, I'm still learning the nooks and crannies of 5th, so happy to explore this one.

The belt of darts is currently suspended a few foot above the ground inside the jelly.

I could do with some views here -- The introductory description of the jelly cites "...consumes living tissue..." and "...leaves victims' bones..."
The point I'm juggling with is when an engulfed creature dies inside the jelly and does the jelly still reduce it to a skeleton. i.e. consuming "once living" i.e. organic things.

The consequences would be either:
a) "once living" consumed = belt of darts and javelin potentially damaged.
b) "only still living" consumed = kit fine but an ultra fast still-living flesh dissolving rate.

My inclination is to avoid the complexities of (b) re loss of flesh, possible CHA reduction etc etc and go for a relaxed (a) where engulfed items require some kind of saving throw, maybe DC10 every hour.

Thoughts welcome, please. What seems reasonable to you?

The save sounds normal for items I think.

So once stuff is removed the slime becomes inert?

I'm thinking I'll use my quarter staff to drag our items out.
