Act 3, Scene 1: Assembly and Supplication

The 2E AD&D Homebrew Sandbox world of Genwald is large, ancient, and magical. There are many undiscovered/untamed places. The Sun Kingdom (European style, Late Medieval Human NG Monarchy) is the basic Campaign area, but PCs can end up anywhere.

The scars of ancient battles of titanic proportions mark the land. Wild magic zones, fantastical terrain, grand adventure, political strife, and even artifacts of wonder await. Choose your part and come make your mark on the world. A wide array of unconventional races and classes are available.

Fin douses the campfire with dirt as the party rouses and prepares. The crashing sound continues until Nocturno's voice cuts through the night in challenge. The movement stops abruptly... then a tentative rustle... then another... Gradually to those with infravision a snout emerges from the brush, nose wiggling as it tests the air. Encouraged, the furred creature wanders into the camp with a waddling walk. The black bear seems focused initially on the former fire, but quickly turns its attentions to where the boar meat is stored... The beast huffs once at the armored Elf before it takes a tentative step in the direction of the cooked meats...

"It is hungry like us. Maybe we can spare some reserves by throwing it an offering?" Being an Elf would that make sense to him?

Nocturno keeps his stance between the rescued and the bear. Ready to attack if it tries to harm anyone he is protecting.

"He not hurt us " Katten agrees replacing her bow.. 'You hungry, we share." She brings herself to a level of calm, her focus on the bear, "We friends. We no hurt." (Using Animal empathy to calm the bear)

Findalsip watches with great interest as Katten befriends the creature he hasn’t encountered before. He keeps furtively glancing back at the other campers and then back to what Katten is doing.

Katten moves to the fore, trying to calm the creature and showing no aggression. The Bear moves towards the food, avoiding the Ranger and clearly not calmed by her overtures. It lumbers towards the rations, sniffing and snuffling all over the packs as its eyes warily watch the campers. With wide paws it pulls a pile of the porcine portions into its maw, clamping down on a number of the still wrapped rations. With a bound it lumbers off into the night with a significant portion of the cooked rations.

"Better the bear eats boar than you be eaten, Katten," Linar tries to reassure the feline ranger. After a dozen heartbeats he resheathes his sword.
