Labyrinth OOC

A classic 2e Puzzle dungeon for High Level characters
Beware, this one is substantially longer and (IMHO) even harder than the legendary Tomb of Horrors!

Did anyone manage to Identify the magic items brought back?
I don't think any players have cast identify on the objects discovered (list below). But both Allikhain and Nocturno have the spell and would be quite proficient at it. As long as someone has the 100 gp for the material components left over from their initial equipment buy it should be a simple matter to do so. (spoiler alert: Allikhain has most of her cash left)

-Ring of Invisibility (Effect demonstrated by trolls. Large sized creature only) [from troll fight]
-Suit of Magical chain mail (on body from hatch c)
-Stone, small. Lavender and Purple (possible ioun stone)(on body from hatch c)
-Green Serpent ring (A3)
Lord Torath wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 7:46 pm Steve wouldn't say "no" to a casting of Invisibility, and an Augury or two could come in handy. Glitterdust or Invisibility Purge (not certain if that one is a 2E spell or not) could be useful for making it easier for when the invisible trolls (or whatever it happens to be) make a 'reappearance'.
If he asks nicely, Allikhain has glitterdust which she demonstrated against the invisible trolls (not currently prepared today, 4th of Harvest). She has actually cast Persistence in combo with 'See Invisibility' today (day 2, 4th of Harvest) which allows her to essentially turn the duration of the spell on and off like a light switch (at one round intervals) for the full duration. It lasts 1 day/ lvl or until the normal duration is accumulated.

She would normally not mention it, but if asked by the party about 'seeing invisible' things, she'll admit it ;)
Lord Torath wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 7:46 pm Could we get a Divination to ask if any of the opposition in the Labyrinth would be subject to Hold Person? If so, that could be a good spell to prepare. Hold Monster would probably be a good choice as well.
Sure, who in the party is using which spell for Divination?
Ke'Sha and Jag are the party priests.
Allikhain doesn't have much aside from 'Contact other plane' which almost drove her insane last time (the day before)
Lord Torath wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 7:46 pm Slow is always a good choice, too. I prefer it to Haste, since Slow on your enemies is like Haste on yourself, but it affects your spells/psionics as well, which Haste doesn't! Does Haste's aging effect require a System Shock roll to survive?

The difference being enemies get a chance for a saving throw vs Slow (and must stand 'cooperatively' in the AoE), but allies are guaranteed the Haste boost (and probably need much less convincing to stand in the AoE prior to battle.)

The aging effect doesn't cause a system shock save, but the DM might secretly roll a character's individual 'lifespan' against the book guidelines to see if they have reached their 'natural time'

Lord Torath wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 7:46 pm Do we have any spare Continual Light pebbles?
PCs can have 1 each for free on their 'rest day' on the 4th of Reaping (there should be enough camp support for that around).
Thought I had mentioned that before but not going to go looking for it rn at 2am.
Lord Torath wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 7:46 pm Could we acquire a few more 10-foot poles? We could each probably carry one as a walking stick. Well, Ke'Sha could carry a five-foot pole, anyway.
Lol, sure. There are tent poles and saplings galore. Just tell me who is juggling how many unweildy sticks and in what way before the party goes back in

Steve will collect a 10' pole, and use it as a walking stick, to be dropped as soon as combat starts. How high are most of the ceilings in the Labyrinth? Has Landro been brushing his head on the doorways? Steve may need to trim his walking stick a bit, depending on the answer.

Yeah, Slow does grant a saving throw -- at a -4, but still, it does grant that chance to your enemies.

There was a discussion over on Dragonsfoot about humans vs demi-humans and why you'd ever play a human if demi-humans had no level limts, and I really liked Library Ogre's 'racial abilities' for humans.

To be clear, I am in no way suggesting Trisden implement them here (I won't complain if he does, but I certainly won't complain if he doesn't either). I just like them and wanted to spread them around.

That kind of discussion before a campaign begins is fine. If you're looking for a site-wide place to discuss it, the Planet PMPB Tavern Here is a great place to have it.

People choose humans for many reasons, not all related to how many bonuses or advantages they do or don't get. Choices seem to me to be made by campaign setting as much as storytelling or anything else. But at the end of tne day, it's all player choice. If nobody chooses a human, I don't get my feelings hurt.

And I chose human without any expectation of anything more. I am quite happy with Steve as-is, and I'm having a blast! No complaints here!

On a completely unrelated subject, who's turn is it? Are we waiting for specific input before moving forward?

Just a reminder to update the 1st post of the IC thread to show that Stephen has a mindlink with Jack. Here's where he agrees to it.

the evening of the 4th is still the second in game day, right?

What's the difference between tongues, and speak with monsters, beside the level? In tongues you have to choose the languages so you must be aware of their existence?
There is also speak with animals.

Ke'Sha zombified trolls, yes, but this is the least of his doing. He assembles a small unit. He also signed a deal with a greater Varrangoin. Now he is about to create two juju-zombies, a wight, summon undead and create another zombie monster. Should it overshadow the game, they will either die, rebel or be released by the god for more important tasks :)

Yeah, basically Tongues is for speaking to intelligent humanoids or demihumans wirh normal language in their native tongue

Speak with monsters allows communication with anything, even creatures that don't use verbal language or are alien in some way
