Labyrinth OOC

A classic 2e Puzzle dungeon for High Level characters
Beware, this one is substantially longer and (IMHO) even harder than the legendary Tomb of Horrors!

Axid would have no problem with giving away of control in this this situation. It would help him.

I must have misunderstood, I thought the Trolls were very far down, over the edge of the bowl.

Two of the trolls are very far down, yes. And to get to them one would have to climb up the sheer side of the caldera wall about 60 feet, then back down the outside around 150 feet. After taking the time to burn the trolls nearby, the spells woll not last long enough to reach the other 2. The flaming sphere can only move 30 ft/round

Are we allowed to know Allekhain spells? She has knock, dispel, minor and major globes of involunaribility that might cancel the spell and dimension door that might help bypass the door. (Kesha did saw the other side through rattle and can project the image telepathically or describe it in details).

The party does not know what she has prepared unless she said something in-character

We can try and ask her. Ke'Sha probably can speak with the dead... ;)

Hi,
I'm going on vacation with the family from the 17th of July to the 13th of August.
I'm taking a laptop with me, but not sure how often I'll be able to post. So if I'm slacking, feel free to NPC Ke'Sha.

Hi. I'm posting this from selfish desires (I want to replace the destroyed undead by a set of improved and more interesting undead) but it might fit to the whole spellcasters in the group.
As days pass spellcaster can prepare new spells. Some can be long term spells to fortify the group. Had we known each other beforehand we could take few days in camp to improve our defenses and skills. (Stoneskin, phantom armor etc.)
Anyway, even after the adventure begin if we could replace spells at normal rate, we could do it now, while knowing that "soon enough" we are able to replace the spells with new ones.

Now I want to quote the beginning of the first post in the main adventure thread:

Game thread #1.

Adventure Began:
3rd (Moonday) of Reaping: 8AM
and here to quote one of the last posts:
Sat Jul 13, 2024 11:33 pm

Axid lowers the metal pole by rope, which Ke'Sha promptly unties and tries to collect the rope rather than the pole. You mind bringing that pole over here? Landro asks the halfling. Or would you rather hold the door...?

Gur flies over near the door and scans the area below. Looks like the dead guy has some kinda magic armor or somethin... I don't see anything else... except he's dead... like dead-dead, not un-dead or 'mostly dead' or any of that crap...

Jack eventually makes his way down and drags the pole over to prop up one corner of the door. You make a pretty good door-stop, big guy, but let's get you a break He chuckles. Thanks Axid, wanna send another one?

===
The Time is 12:15 pm, Moonday 3rd of Reaping
So in 10 real life months, 4 hours of game time had past.

If all agree I would be happy to find together a mechanism that enable spells changes more often, like once a month of real life or a game day whichever comes first, to be able to cast spells and regain spells. I know my suggestion is not balanced against the monsters abilities, but this way it feels like spells change ability is close to non existent.

What do you guys think about it, players and DM of course.

Thus is the drawback to this style of gaming. If you think about the proposal that would seriously alter gameplay mechanics. We have the option of returning to camp and ‘resting’ and learning new spells.

Yeah, but if we do it once a month of real life, it's like returning to camp and rest every 24 minutes of game time. :)

That would be pretty ridiculous, especially given the massive amount of spells the party already has at their disposal

That was my point, and thus the suggested solution, but if it is not accpetable and no other solution exists, well, I can wait two years to replace spells for one specific task, and then 3 more to return to the adventure regular list... :)

Does that check only apply to PCs down the hole?
