Nocturno (Private thread) Labyrinth of Madness

A classic 2e Puzzle dungeon for High Level characters
Beware, this one is substantially longer and (IMHO) even harder than the legendary Tomb of Horrors!

Ok well as long as he doesn't see anything new time to move along then I guess.

Just the hatch that they made progress in is left, yes?

As they turn to leave the stairs suddenly tilt, flattening into a slide! Caught off-balance Landro falls into the pit, landing hard on the stone below. At the same instant the floor begins to close up as the walls of the pit move rapidly together!! Relying on instinct, Landro holds the post up from his prone position like a barbell, the walls press against the ends of wooden pole which creaks and groans in protest but miraculously it holds!! Small breaks and splinters begin to form along it's length; it surely will not hold for long!!

[Actions? He is in a 20 ft deep pit that is now only open 10 ft wide. The 'stairs' are a slick ramp at the moment]
====
Landro Dex (11) -3 penalty, [1d20]=9, Failure!

Landro fall dmg [2d6]=8,
Landro is

Landro tries to stop the trap with his 10 ft pole!
Landro Dex (11) -3 pole use [1d20]=5, pole save -4 [1d20]=4, Both Pass!
He gets the pole up in time and it miraculously doesn't break!

Oh jeebus!
=========================================
Does Fly use the Characters strength to pull up? ie. Jack ties a rope off around his waist throws it down, Landro Holds on, and he flies up.
Or does Jack think a set of spikes could hold one wall back?

"Hold on! Let me just do this!"

[Landro weighs like 800 lbs plus equipment, so i'm going to say both Jack and the fly spell aren't capable of holding him up on the rope. As for the spikes, you're welcome to try :satan: ]

With the rope option out, spikes is the only option I presented quickly, to go with the quick thinking.
=======================================================================================
Jack flies down, and hammers as many spikes as he can in a short time into the floor, in the middle of the wall, enough to catch the wall in an attempt to stop it. If it is obvious that the wall is too far above the floor, he will fly closest wall and do the same there instead.

[Nice]

Jack swoops down with a hammer and a handfull of spikes. He begins hammering them into place furiously. The wooden pole groans and creaks eerily as the walls continue to close. By the time Jack has two spikes in place the pist explodes in a shower of flinders! The walls lurch inward against the spikes with a deafening, horrendous screech of metal on stone! Blessedly the trap only closes a few inches before grinding to a halt. A few more spikes hammered in and the trap is securely defeated.

====

item save vs crush pole, spikes [1d20]=5, [1d20]=10
post save vs crush, fail! Spikes pass

[Hahaha, yeah nothing unexpected. I suppose almost being crushed to death (6d10 dmg) is old-hat for high level adventurers ;) ]

Jack will help Landro out of the pit if he can.

Can he find a way to set the stairs back to normal?

It isnt a dungeon till you fall in a pit, and get crushed!

After a few tries Landro manages to climb out. The stairs reset to normal after a few minutes but the pit walls do not move

"Well that was some excitement."

Does Jag find anything new up top?
That was the last "dead end", now just the 4th one with the Troll room at the bottom?
