Re: Act 3 Scene 1: Arrivals and Leavetakings
Kybalion bowed in return to the curtsy. He wass surprised at the gentle kiss. He places his fingers over the spot where her lips had been. He appreciated the first act of kindness he had experienced in this strange world? Land? Town? It didn’t matter where he was at this point. It was enough that he had a purpose now. His face betrayed him with the slightest tint of red and a smile. “M’lady, I will strive to assist however I may. You have my word.” At the mention of a temple he perked up. He fell in line with the others to head to the temple. He could use some holy water. Before doing so he asked the barkeep if he had some used wine bottle or wine skins he didn’t need.
You are talkin' to the holy symbol wearing,
Ruby ring wearing, kiss stealing; Woo!
Praying/healing, beholder riding, griffin flying
Son of a blowgun, and I'm having a hard time holding these Aboleth shoes down! WOO!

Pyros listens. Looking at any ornaments or side tables that may be present.

Before leaving the Inn, Kybalion speaks to the bartender in Elven, who supplies him with a pair of empty wineskins.

Pyros scans the area but there doesn't seem to be much lying around aside from the bowls to receive offerings of incense or the lighting fixtures. In the far back, however, a banner bearing the symbol of the sun hangs behind a small stone altar atop which a brass bowl, a censure and a small capped vessel with a spout and delicate handle for pouring.
Brother Hedram listens to the knight's account, some surprise and sadness in his eyes. Such powerful magic is quite rare, and only the most dedicated ever achieve the devotion to receive such ability from the powers. I regret that it is far beyond my ability... however... He pauses as if a thought has occurred to him. Excusing himself briefly he moves behind the hanging sun curtain to open a concealed door. Within moments he returns, a rolled parchment in his hands. This scroll was found recently, by one of our most regular visitors. Not fully understanding what it was, they brought it here and offered it to the temple for safekeeping. I'm afraid in my hands it is little more use than the parchment it is written on. I am not well versed enough even to cure the blind.
Elsa perks up at the sight of the scroll, Forgive me, brother, but may I see that? The elder man nods and hands the precious object to the halfling cleric. Only recently Yondalla has allowed me greater access to her power, though the communication remains distant in this place... Unfurling the scroll her brow furrows as she deciphers the text, then her visage brightens visibly. He's right! These are prayers of Restoration! They're far more than I can do on my own, but with a scroll... at least there is a chance! She says, excitedly. It will be difficult, and there is a chance something could go wrong... but... if you are willing, we can try it! She says to the knight

I decided to roll for vampire treasure F to see if there would be a fitting scroll available. turns out the dice were in Karl's favor! Narratively just decided to plug it in here

Karl was torn, if he did this he would be able to help, but then this was a valuable thing. Was he worthy of such an gift.
"Elsa." He begins. "I.. is this possible? I would give all I have to be all I was. But this." He actually flushes and hangs his head. "When you say wrong what do you mean?" He asks nervously.

Re: Act 3 Scene 1: Arrivals and Leavetakings
Elsa nods solemnly. It is certainly possible, but not without risk... It is far above my normal ability but... If I were to guess, I would say the odds of success are just as good as those of it not working... And if it doesn't work... well then there is a chance it will have some harmful effect, which might damage or weaken you... there's really no way to know for sure what it will be. She grimaces briefly but quickly pipes up. But even if there is a failure, it is much more likely that nothing will happen than something bad! Laying a hand on his arm she gives him a comforting look. You don't have to decide right now. It will still be effective if we wait a few days. She says, encouragingly.
====
TLDR
There are 2 copies of 'Restoration' on the scroll. At her current level Elsa can attempt to cast them but it's basically 50/50 whether each iteration works or not. If there is a failure, there is a chance that there can be a bad effect. In this case it is almost twice as likely there will be no ill effect from failure. One successful casting will bring him to exactly enough xp for level 4, both successfully cast will bring him to exactly level 5.
Alternatively, Karl could wait a few days (1 day per level of the caster is the window for Restoring levels) and he might even reach level 4 again in that time (he only needs 2,000 xp and they will be getting a lot from this chapter). If that happens, only one successful casting would be necessary to restore him to lvl 5. That could help account for one failure or even leave a casting for a need at a later date

Re: Act 3 Scene 1: Arrivals and Leavetakings
"Then I will use caution. To weaken myself further would not help anyone." Karl decides, "Brother Hedram. I am forever in your debt." He takes the man's hand. "I thank you."
(Karl has his share of the treasure does he not? He would like to give the Brother a donation.
I think the second option would be the best for him)

Brother Hedram bows low as he shakes the Knight's hand. Sir Knight, you have done a great service for this community. we are the ones in debt to you and your friends.
=====
Yeah, he has + 285gp, 7sp, 1cp from his share of the cavern treasure
If everyone is good here, I'll write a quick outro for this chapter and finish working up xp (of which there is a pretty significant chunk for this game day)

Karl pauses "Brother Hedram." Please take this as a donation to the church. When I return I will see that there is more."
He hands the Brother 50 gold, placing the coins firmly into the man's hand. "Please help those in need where you can." And with that he departs.
(All good with me. Mira isn't going anywhere)

Re: Act 3 Scene 1: Arrivals and Leavetakings
The priest accepts the offering humbly, thanking the Knight again for his generosity of service and his donation.
As the group are leaving, Jerry pauses at the door and speaks a brief prayer of healing over the Knight. Perhaps it was because they were in this holy place, or some brief reprieve even in the darkness of this land, but all of Sir Karl’s wounds close completely!
