Jim stands listed with the dart while Alecia sets up a candle in the dark. It sheds bright light in a 5' radius and dim light for a further 5'. It blinds anyone in that area that was using Darkvision for a short I (6 seconds.) It also allows the writing on the southeast wall to be read, "CERTAIN DEATH THIS WAY" with an arrow pointing south. It looks as though it has been written with a burning torch.

"Well. I am inclined to heed that warning. Though all 3 doors could probably carry that warning."

Sue looks at the coins. He will kick Jim's to him. He will then take a closer look at the other coin. Then kick it if his investigation reveals nothing and no one stops him.

Evenwood wants to see if he can out more about the writings for the mystical dark magic. Can he do so with an Arcana check?

Jim stands prepared for skeleton snake activity.
Nix guards Alecia. Tymora's wheel appears to have turned in her favour.
Sue investigates the coins. They appear to be just simple coins and respond accordingly when kicked, only moving 1' or so. Jim' coin is exactly that. The other coin, the gold one, looks like a Waterdavian dragon minted about ten years ago.
Evenwood contemplates why his artificial Darkvision doesn't work in this pillared room.
The writings on the wall appear to be simple a warning not to go south. It's unclear how long they've been there, but there is a bit of cobweb over one of the words.

"Its possible that all of these passages head to 'certain death' so .." Placing the map on the floor she sketches the warning before rolling the map up once more. "Where do you think we should go then?"
" Kid never learned to clear a room. Doors and corners, I told him. Doors and corners."

Jim hears a rather faint squeaking noise from the west.

Evenwood make an Arcana check rolling a :
[1d20] = 20 +5 = 25

He stays close to Alecia. "Alecia for some reason I can't see anymore so I will say close to you so I can see using your light".

[so we couldnt read the writing until a natural light was lit..]

Good idea. Anyone have torches or a lantern?

[Not in this room, no. The contrast was too poor.]

======
I know that in older editions reading could not be done with infravision. I'll need to check for 5th with darkvision. (If anyone knows the reference page for 5th, feel free to shout out. Thx.)

As Jim smoothly crouches to gather up his coin while still keeping a wary eye on the skeleton of the snake, he pauses for a second with his head cocked. "There is a squeaking noise coming from that direction" he say pointing westward

Pocketing his coin, he throws his heavy dart at the skeleton of the snake wanting to know with certainty the thing was actually dead.
To hit: [1d20+6] = 12+6 = 18, damage with dart: [1d4+4] = 1+4 = 5

[5e darkvision can see i darkness as if it were dim light. cant discern color, only shades of grey. basically colorblind. PHB. 183
i suspect this was an easy way to settle all those heat-related infravision disagreements]

Sue picks up the coin and inspects it some more.

If nothing happens he will flip the coin.

"Heads - west, Tails - North?" He is half hoping the Priest of Tymora would appreciate the path being left to chance.

Nothing happens.
Tymora's wheel turns the coin to heads.

======
Tymora was very helpful in noticing that GM hasn't done the north map yet and is has only just started learning how to use the mapping tool.
