The Heart of Darkness... [Main Game Thread]

The (Original!) Tomb of Horrors!!!
S1 by the great Gygax 1978. Everything adapted to 2e. This is NOT the Return to ToH written for 2e

Labyrinth of Madness!!! Previously Concluded (by TPK)
S6 by Monte Cook from 1995. Designed for 2e. IMHO this one is the tougher of the two, but not by much.

"Bryce, let`s investigate this for a secret door." What does Tabbi need to roll to detect a secret door?

[OOC]Secret doors rolls are usually done by the DM. Basically 1/6 chance for non elves, 3/6 chance for most Elves. Observation Non-weapon proficiency can boost this by 1/6 for a successful check. Alternatively, if there is one and you describe the way a character is searching that triggers it, they automatically find it without rolling.[/OOC]

Tabbi searches the area visually, but finds no secret door.

Tabbi yells back. "This hallway is very small even for me. It appears to be a dead end." "I can't find any doors." "Can someone pass me that 10 foot pole I will try to tap the walls in this area with it?"

Tabbi takes the pole from Bryce and slides it on the ground to try to trigger traps if any on the floor. After that she will use the pole to touch and poke the back wall with it.

Tabbi slides and rakes the long pole over the ground ahead until she convinces herself there are no hidden hazards there. Cautiously she moves the pole against the perfectly flat, gold-colored dead-end. The pole meets no resistance whatsoever, and the tip passes beyond the opaque barrier as if it weren't there at all, merely illusion.

She pulls the pole back and looks to see if the pole is intact.

The end of the pole returns to view, no worse for the wear.

"Zafron, I think I have found an exit. There seems to be an illusionaury wall. I'm going through." Tabbi walks through. If she is safe she yell back to the group and poke the pole back through the wall.

"Hmm... it seems your brothers are going on by themselves. I believe it would be nice to try and figure how this statue works before continuing, if anyone have some gems..." Galan says to Van.

Tabbi passes through the illusion easily, but her foot meets no ground on the other side! Rather than fall forward, she allows her other leg to give way and sits back on the ground. Her legs hang past the illusion, giving the disconcerting appearance that they have been cut off. She sticks her head through long enough to see what is beyond. Below her is a drop of about 7 feet in height, which she determines she can easily manage.

The area beneath stretches out into a long 20 ft wide corridor that extends beyond the range of her infravision. The floor is of inlaid tiles and the walls and ceiling are painted with figures of animals strange signs and glyphs, and humans and human-like creatures with spheres of different colors. Below her, worked as a fresco on the wall, is a figure holding a Golden sphere high overhead; which proves to be the illusory wall.
