The Brink [of Madness] Act 1, Scene 1

A classic 2e Puzzle dungeon for High Level characters
Beware, this one is substantially longer and (IMHO) even harder than the legendary Tomb of Horrors!

"If you want to pick boogers with that pole I suggest you try your nose first Ke$ha." Axid moves away from the pole and inspects the backside of the hands where the scars are looking for secret doors, traps, locks, seams, or other odds things that might indicate moving parts.

Jack will pass the pole over. He will fly around the perimeter of the room checking for secrets.
"Just don't look down." He half jokes.

Jag looks like anyone left in the room.
"Shall we wait here, or go further back and look for some other changes?"

Prodding, standing or putting any weight on the 'pit' proves fruitless as some invisible barrier seems to be covering it in its entirety.
Hmm... could be a Wall of Force. Allikhain admits. We have not long left for the 'Telepathic Bond' before it expires. This is the only place we have searched for changes so far, and we are well into the afternoon now. Perhaps it would be prudent to check the other locations quickly and ponder our next move?

"Indeed, it might be that some other dimensional change in a different room is connected to this barrier. But since we are here, let's check this room thoroughly and only then go for the other rooms. If nothing presents itself, we can try to dispel this annoying magic."

"For our magic users, what does it take to remove a wall of force? Also why are the hands covered in reddish stuff? There must be a key to this quandary around here somewhere." Axid huffs. "Bloody shoddy human stone work by the looks of it too. They probably left too many stress points in the stone." the dwarf rambles on as he searches the hands for clue or key to this puzzle.

Axid's hunch is correct. If it is indeed a Wall of Force, it would require no less than Disintegration to destroy. She smirks coyly, Fortunately we find ourselves currently posessed of such ability.

Axid examines the hamds closer and finds they are not so much covered im red stuf as cradted from some sort of reddish metal.

"This damn place will make one go mad." He looks at the hole peering over the edge trying to see what may be below.

The pit itself is shrouded in darkness beyond the invisible barrier, shining the magical light source above proves ineffective.

(OOC: Oh cr**! I thought it will take few more real life months until we go to sleep :) . What is the time of day right now? Isn't it about noon?
If we are going to sleep Ke'Sha would want to spend some spells before, like summoning elemental, only I need to consider what to ask it to do... maybe check this wall of force...
If it is to bring Steve to the game, it is more than welcome, but if you agree I'd rather we do go to the camp and spend few downtime days there to get our boost spells as high as possible. Stoneskins, phantom armors, and recruit several undead :D

====
The current time (listed 4 posts back from your question) is 3:30 pm

-Jacks 'Fly' spell and 'Rary's Telepathic Bond' will expire in about 20 mins

Stoneskin doesn't last longer than 24 hrs so you can only have as many running as 4th level spell slots you can convince people able to cast it to use ;)

"While you magic types discuss, I am going to fly around and concentrate on the ceiling and upper part of the wall until the spell is done." Jack will say as he flies off to inspect the ceiling above the hole, then around the walls.

"With less than the hour left on our bond, we should either explore right now, or start securing this room. I know it seems early, but we should be safer rather than sorry."
