Act 2, Scene 3: Twisting Paths

The 2E AD&D Homebrew Sandbox world of Genwald is large, ancient, and magical. There are many undiscovered/untamed places. The Sun Kingdom (European style, Late Medieval Human NG Monarchy) is the basic Campaign area, but PCs can end up anywhere.

The scars of ancient battles of titanic proportions mark the land. Wild magic zones, fantastical terrain, grand adventure, political strife, and even artifacts of wonder await. Choose your part and come make your mark on the world. A wide array of unconventional races and classes are available.

Linar's eyebrow quirks up at the comment. Nocturno, Jordek and myself are all priests as well. But if you are uncomfortable or Calladuran has forbid you from such things, we will find another way. I simply asked the two of you because you are the only ones guaranteed to fit through. It is just an idea, we don't have to do it but then our only way forward becomes the main path south towards the Worgs.

Jordek shrugs, I'm willing to try, but I can't take them both alone while they are talking to each other.

Linar shakes his head, There is a turn part way through, we don't have a line of sight.

Squishing his face. "I could remove the armour and gear and follow someone, to help even the odds. The problem is, this can't be the only way in, if the humans are there. Are we thinking if we make our way in we would be able to surprise other guard details from behind?"

My thought was that at least we could get an idea of their number and position. I can remove my armor and attempt to sneak through. Linar adds, Since Jordek and myself are both trained in the craft of stealth as well as being naturally agile creatures, it might be best if we are the ones to go.

Findalsip gestures and transforms into a Wetrocks goblin. I will try some trickery to lure at least one of the wretches to this side. We can then dispatch them without raising alarms.

Linar nods and hides near the opening, his blades bared. Jordek draws his daggers and does the same on the other side. The others move out of sight, and Jordek gestures for Fin to begin his ruse

Nocturno keeps his armour on for now. Staying still as possible, and watching where they came from.

Findalsip goes back through the small crawl way careful to listen for the sounds of other goblins and make mental notes of what they are discussing so as to insert himself easily into conversation when he is closer to them.

Fin transforms into a goblinoid figure and crawls into the passage. He tries to listen in on the conversation, but cannot understand what they are saying; they must be speaking in goblin...

Findalsip slides through listening and observing. He plans on a ruse to lure the goblins back through the crawl way faking an injury that has rendered him moot.

Fin crawls through the passage to the other side and sees that the the area is is a narrow tunneling passage. It has clearly been carved by many hands with low skill and poor consistency. The arhythmic tink-tink of irregular and feeble pick-blows echoes dissonantly from the SouthWest where he can see a chain-gang of four slaves working: a human woman in her 30s, A slightly younger human man, an Elven woman and a human teenager.

Two goblins lean against the cave wall with their spears, yammering on and not really paying the slaves much heed.

To the SouthEast another passage opens up where many other goblin voices can be heard. The two guards notice Fin and start babbling at him in goblin.

Findalsip attempts to look hurt in the throat area and motions the two he sees to follow in a hurried motion and crawls back in to the other side.

The 'goblin' Fin gestures frantically, at the two wetrocks tribesmen, then turns as if to go back through the tunnel. One of the goblins cries out and grabs him tight to prevent him returning, shaking his head and babbling in goblin at the disguised Svirfneiblin.

The second goblin runs off down the passage to the SouthEast, flailing his arms and calling to his fellow tribesmen
