Reeling from the weight of recent revelations, the Ranger finally takes a moment to deal with the sudden changes. But with no clear direction or way back, there was little to do but pick a direction and move forward...

With no other option she began to process the situation, her trained mind trying to work out a plan.

Water was a source of life. Towns were built on rivers. She would head to the sound of the waterfall and work from there.

Checking her weapons she wipes her eyes with her sleeve and pulls herself up. She had to move.

Althiriel moves towards the sound of the water, trying to get a bead on her surroundings and perhaps a sign of civilization. The early morning sun cuts through the trees at a low angle, indicating she is moving mostly Southward... that is, if even the sun itself hasn't begun to betray her... Pushing through the undergrowth the roar of the water grows to an almost deafening pitch as she reaches the edge of the treeline.

She finds herself high upon a cliff overlooking a breath taking sight. To the East and South along the ridge of the high stone cliff, twin waterfalls plunge downward to shatter what might otherwise be a peaceful pond. The roar is incredible, muting all other sounds, and a cloud of mist fills the air below like smoke boiling up from a cauldron. In the center of the bubbling, churning lake stands a natural stone island; an island long ago polished to a smooth, rounded form by the raging water. A proud and stately structure stands alone on that natural foundation, A The Old Kartakan Inn. The perpetual fog of the waters hang heavy about the inn, giving the place an almost super natural look. Here and there, moving bodies can be seen in the mists. The obscuring properties of this shroud, however, make it difficult to tell if they are human or some form of ghostly apparition.

To the West there appears to be a wide orchard of bushes and shrubs, littered with old shacks and shantys. Close to a dozen people mill around in the area, though it is unclear what their purpose is. Two of the folk seem to be approaching the base of the cliff she is standing on beside the waterfall, a redheaded woman and what appears from this height to be a child following her...

The Town below, her position marked in Blue
The people she sees are in Yellow
The inn is #1 in Red on the map

Locations #2 and #3 are visible to her from up high as well. #2 is explained in the 'Acquired Party Knowledge' thread here:

Riel winces in pain, the wound on her back sent agony through her body. Perhaps she deserved such pain.

She stops, looking at the Waterfalls, she knew the easy way down, but that would kill her! And she had to get home, then face her punishment.

Can she see a way down? Are there any paths?
