CH 9: To the Walls of Pax Tharkas

[Jenara]

"I know what you are thinking Tas, what is behind the doors? Riverwind, notice how the Rats don't go to the doors... Does anything else?" The Young Elf walks on at the back near Eben, her eyes on the front, her bow drawn and ready.

[Jerrard]

Sturm walks onwards, his eyes following the doors, what might be hiding behind them?

"This is probably a chamber to match the last, a hidden way into the fortress, hopefully this one hasn't collapsed." He glances forwards, "Tas, what can you see?" He asks.

[Nuke]

Riverwind looks around, noting the tracks in the dust. "My people do not bury their dead in crypts like these, but I do think there are dead behind the doors."

[JadedDM]

Riverwind does not spot any tracks other than those that belong to mice.

"Best not disturb them then," Eben suggests. "Let's continue forward, see if this leads where we need to go."

[Breila]

"Yes, we should go on" Goldmoon agrees with Eben. "Maybe the rats avoid these doors because they are so well worked they can't get through, maybe there's something behind them that scares them off. Anyway, I do not think we should disturb the dead if we can avoid it." She moves slowly onward, expecting the others to do the same, keeping to the middle of the group.

[Kafen]

Tas drifts towards one of the doors and suggests. "We can just a take a quick look, right? I bet they're empty. Perfectly harmless, empty chambers with creepy decorations." He wriggles his fingers and reaches for his lock picks.

(( Tas waits to get permission before moving to inpsect the nearest door. ))

[JadedDM]

The doors do not appear to have any locking mechanisms. They should just pop open easily if anyone grabs their handles and pulls.

[Breila]

"Tasselhoff, could you please hold off your curiosity? We came here for a purpose, and we've lost a lot of time already. Let us go on. If we pass here on our way back, you can still have a look." Callling from the middle of the group, Goldmoon tries to be both friendly and firm.

[Jenara]

"Indeed Tas, while you may have enjoyed being chased last time, I did not. Lets find our way in, shall we?" Laurana says in agreement with Goldmoon.

Jerrard.
"We are in the crypt's i would suspect, i have seen similar in my home land. Let is not disturb those who do not wish to be disturbed." Sturm leads on, keeping his eyes mostly forwards.

[Nuke]

"Yes, let's move on." Riverwind falls in line, and follows.

[Kafen]

"Awe." Tas says in a low voice. He sighs dramatically and secures his lock picks. "I'm sure there is something neat behind those doors." He tells them as he takes his former position at the lead.

[JadedDM]

The party continues to the west, down the hallway for three minutes. They pass a number of similar doors, all untouched for ages, on both sides.

At the end of the hall, the party comes across another set of double doors made of bronze. Like the doors in Kith-Kanan's tomb, they bear a raised outline of Pax Tharkas, done in considerable detail. This design adorns each side of the doors.

[Breila]

Goldmoon keeps standing, holding the light aloft, waiting for the strong ones to open the doors and the archers to secure them. If Riverwind chooses to look for tracks, she will stay close to him to provide best light.

[Jenara]

Sturm steps forwards, tapping caramon on the shoulder. "Shall we?" he asks looking behind him a moment. "Archers?"

Laurana keeps her bow at the ready, standing near the door. "Riverwind?" she asks, shaking slightly, freeing Tanis thats why she was here. "Stay with magpie."

"Me no like crypt, it not like home. No good eat." the dwarf grabs some spiced potatoes from her pack.

"Is it just me, or are they being overly cautious?" Tika asks Eben softly.
