Jocelyn hand quivers as she considers letting one of the sling bullets fly, but she holds her hand. "Let him go," she says to the others.

"Well, then this is the first time. An assasin just walked in and tried to kill your pastor, Mistress. Blaine." Ouragana says, staring the man down.

Val has no such silly thoughts of mercy. As he turns, she attempts to skewer him.

Temple Courtyard
The assassin quickly scales over the fence and drops to the other side before Val can strike. Thus, the half-orc only hits the fence where the assassin had been standing a few moments earlier.
Village Square
The elf chuckles again, clearly not taking Ouragana seriously. "Why would anyone want to hurt the pastor? Most people here adore her."

Assassin makes a climb check over the fence while wounded [60] (1d100): 7, pass. He scales over the wall.
Val attempts to skewer the assassin, but he is over the wall and cannot be hit by her.

Shaking her head Arei walks back into the building and collects her stilletto, moving to the pews she sits down, and cleans the man's blood from the hard black steel.

Now slightly pissed, Val also scales the fence and continues to run the man down. Bloodlust beginning to form in her eyes, this is becoming personal.

"Well, I don't think it was someone from town. But as nobody seems to be intetested that there's a killer on the loose, I guess we'll have to deal with this on our own." Ouragana turns and walks back to the temple.

Areilon and Jocelyn return to the temple, where Ursula awaits, confounded and clearly worried.
The young woman, in her mid-teens with red hair and brown eyes, is wearing powder blue vestments. She must have been drawn out due to all of the noise, because Areilon had not seen her around earlier.
"Pastor, what's going on?" she asks. "Who are all of these visitors?"
Ouragana, who had decided that this one flippant young man's attitude was representative of the entire village, storms off in a huff and returns to the temple, as well.
Meanwhile, Val continues the chase! Climbing over the fence, she lands on the other side and spots the assassin already having put some distance between them, heading for a forest to the northeast. She goes after him at the same speed, and considers whether she wants to try and wear him down slowly or try and speed up and catch him.

Val is 0 yards from the temple courtyard. The assassin is 240 yards from the courtyard.
There are 240 yards between Val and the assassin. The assassin is currently jogging.
Round 2!
Val is 240 yards from the courtyard. The assassin is 480 yards from the courtyard. There are 240 yards between Val and the assassin. Both are currently jogging.
(OOC: If you're not overly familiar with the jogging/running rules, I'll go over them now. Characters can jog at a speed of their movement rate times 10 yards per round. Both Val and the assassin have movement rates of 12, so that's 240 yards per round. Characters can continue jogging for as many rounds as their CON score. Val has a CON of 15, so she can jog without hindrance for 15 rounds. Once that limit is reached, the character must make a CON check each round thereafter. If passed, they can continue jogging. If failed, they must stop and rest for the same number of rounds they spent jogging.
A character can also run. To run, a STR check must be made. If failed, the character cannot run and must remain jogging. If passed, the character can increase their speed 360 yards per round. To maintain this speed, a CON check with a -1 penalty must be passed each round. If passed, the character can continue running at that speed. If failed, the character must stop and rest for 10 rounds.
A character can run even faster than 360 yards per round, but I won't get into those rules unless I need to.
So the question here is does Val continue jogging in hopes of wearing the assassin down, or risk speeding up?)

Ouragana returns to the temple and sighs with relief when she seen Jocelyn and Areilon safe.
"I tried to alert the village that you have been attacked" she tells Jocelyn, "But the one person I found out on the street just didn't care. Do you know where to go?"

"I'm fine," Jocelyn assures Arei. "And I suppose Val is still chasing after him. She tends to do what she wants." Jocelyn looks to Oura for a moment, then smiles softly with a light laugh. "Most people come here," she points out. "As for what he wanted...he wanted to kill me. I should have changed my name. I can't believe I didn't, but then again I didn't think I would get this far either."
