Re: CH. 13: Resident Evil
Jocelyn makes sure that Granite is in a comfortable position before she walks over to the chest to peak inside. "I could probably use those bracers," she says as she reaches down to grab them.

"Hmm, that sword... Can I see it for a moment?" Drav asks.

Re: CH. 13: Resident Evil
"Zera Doubloon?" repeats Thaddeus. "Wait, the legendary Pirate Queen? How fascinating! I do recall hearing about her, but to be honest, I thought she was just a myth. This could be actual evidence that she was real."Ouragana wrote:"Thaddeus, do you think the Zera mentioned in the record could be Zera Dubloon? Nobody knew where her magic came from, what if this was the place?"
"It may well. Perhaps we should give it a try," Thaddeus comments. Unfortunately, that section of the hall is currently covered in webbing at the moment.Gallath wrote:"Will this maybe fit in the chessboard design on the wall?
Jocelyn picks up the bracers. They are surprisingly light and seem to be the right size to fit her forearms.Jocelyn wrote:"I could probably use those bracers."
Drav takes and pockets the key then inspects the long sword. He finds it light weight and well balanced, and seems perfectly suited for an elf.Drav wrote:"Hmm, that sword... Can I see it for a moment?"
==========
Gallath takes the Bishop Plug.
Jocelyn takes the Bracers of Light Healing.
Drav takes the Heart Key and the Flametongue Longsword.
(OOC: Since the log already revealed the items, I can tell you what they do more specifically. The Bracers of Light Healing add a +2 to any cure spells cast, so CLW does 1d8+2, CMW does 1d10+3, and so on, when they are worn. It doesn't have any effect on Lay on Hands.
The Flametongue can ignite (or be extinguished) at the user's will. The flame on the sword is as bright as a torch and can be used to set flammable things on fire (oil, webbing, grease, paper/parchment, drywood, etc.). Under normal circumstances, it functions as a +1 long sword. However, if used against regenerating creatures, it acts as a +2 weapon. Against cold-based creatures (ice toads, white dragons, winter wolves, yetis, etc.) or avian creatures (anything with bird-like wings) it functions as a +3 weapon. If used against any undead, it acts as a +4 weapon.
The Cloak of the Wolf allows the wearer to shapechange into a dire wolf. Shapechanging takes one full round, regardless of whether you are changing into a wolf or changing back. Your stats stay the same, except your AC becomes 6 and you gain a bite attack that deals 2d8 damage (modified by STR). You can also attack while overbearing (if you have successfully used overbearing on your opponent, all of your attack rolls are automatically successful). You also gain an ability called "Terrorize" which is a fearsome howl that applies a -2 morale penalty on all enemies in hearing range and automatically triggers a morale check (it can be used once per battle). All of your equipment vanishes when you are in wolf form and returns in human form.)
Re: CH. 13: Resident Evil
"This sword seems to have been well made, this must be that sword he was talking about?" Drav says looking at the blade. "Well, as for the cloak, I bet you'd love to talk with your dogs Baeros, maybe you could even hear where your missing pup is."

Re: CH. 13: Resident Evil
Jocelyn quietly slips the bracers on, figuring that there wasn't any harm in wearing them now. "All right, we should probably move on," she says. "Is everyone all right with leaving Val here to guard Granite?"

"Fine by me. Any objections to Drav taking the sword? I think maybe we should use the fire to cut through the web and the trapped armor at the same time"

Re: CH. 13: Resident Evil
Before Jocelyn put the bracers on Baeros appears at her side. "Careful. If you feel anything wrong just signal and I'll pull them off." When he sees all is well he breaths more calmly and listens to Drav... "Hmm... I'm not sure this is the effect, but I'll give it a try. Do you mind wait for a while?" He asks as he wears the cloak and tries to shape shift to a wolf.
Re: CH. 13: Resident Evil
"Sure, why not, but you better not bite me," Drav says with a slight smirk.

Re: CH. 13: Resident Evil
Val finally speaks up. "I have been saving this for an emergency, and I guess this is kind of one." She pulls out her potion and sits down next to Granite and very carefully begins to pour the potion into his mouth, a little at a time.
Re: CH. 13: Resident Evil
Brock pales at Gallath's suggestion. "Whoa there. Magical fire ain't some toy now. You could burn this whole damn place down if you aren't careful. I've seen it happen before, I know what I'm talking about."
Baeros puts on the cloak. He doesn't have experience with this kind of thing, so he just tries to focus really hard on wolves. Sure enough, something begins to happen. He feels suddenly very numb all over, which is probably for the best because his bones begin cracking and reshaping themselves and it would likely be a very painful experience if he could feel it. Fur begins growing all over his body; his clothes and armor and gear seem to be absorbed into his body, making him larger.
Before long, Baeros has transformed into a very large wolf, at least seven feet long from snout to tail. The ranger finds his vision, hearing and sense of smell are all improved, but whenever he tries to speak, he just makes growling noises. The new sensations are nearly overwhelming, and yet, something about them feels familiar, even comfortable. Like he had dreamed this before, and now it was reality.
Val, meanwhile, leaves the doorway to walk to Granite and kneels down by the unconscious gnome. Unstopping the potion she bought some time ago, she drains it into his mouth. The gnome suddenly wakes up, coughing and sputtering, his wounds faintly healing. "It wasn't me," he sputters, looking around confused.

Baeros takes the Cloak of the Wolf. He shapechanges into a dire wolf.
Val gives Granite a Potion of Healing. Granite is automatically restored to 1 HP and now has severe fatigue.

Re: CH. 13: Resident Evil
As Gallath talks about burning the web, Ouragana cautions: "Before we burn the webbing and tackle the armor, we should look at everything on this side of it."
There's more to me than meets the eye...

Re: CH. 13: Resident Evil
Jocelyn stares at the wolf Baeros for what seems like forever before she seems to snap out of it. She reaches out her hand cautiously to pet Baeros on the head mostly to see if he is going to snap at her or not.
Re: CH. 13: Resident Evil
Baeros finds it a little hard to adjust to the new senses. He can't recall his last thoughts. He even is not sure if he had thoughts. He then looks at the humans and humanoids around him. What happened? He thinks simply. Then he starts recognizing the people and recalling his old self. He sees Jocelyn approaching him and feels her hand even with the slightest touch on his fur. He let her touch him and stand still, afraid to scare her ot the others. He then recalls Hopper and tries his new developed senses to find any signs of him, smelling the air and pricking up his ears.

Re: CH. 13: Resident Evil
Baeros finds his mental capabilities, such as they are, are completely intact. The transformation is physical only, not mental. He smells the air and is surprised by how sharply he can identify each of the party's members presence here. He does not smell Hopper at all, but he does smell something else. It's not a party member, but someone was in this room recently--in the last day, at least. It's hard to describe the odor--it reminds him of brimstone and rotten eggs.

Re: CH. 13: Resident Evil
Jocelyn relaxes a little upon seeing that Baeros still knows who she is. She ruffles his fur a little bit, seemingly a little more friendly towards the animal Baeros. "Well," she says, looking to the others. "It looks like we have found everything we can in here. We have that chess piece, and we have a key," she says. "So, I suggest we go put that chest piece in the right slot, then we find the door with the key."
