"Anyone would think you'd dome this before," commented Shima, whilst attacking the most damaged remaining foe. (i.e. #3 unless it drops in which case #4)

He adds, "Hey, do me one favour would you, please?"

Haahqae and Gobax (River Way)
Gobax throws the three rocks in quick succession. However, due to the half-ogres thick hide, his armor and the sun in the goblin's eyes, all three of them miss. The attack does not go unnoticed, though. "We're under attack!" roars the half-ogre, pointing toward the forest. Six of the baaz draw their long swords and move to the forest while the other five and the half-ogre stay behind to guard the prisoner and the paralyzed. The locals start to yell and panic, trying to get away.

===========

Gobax throws a magical stone at Burzan with excellent aim (+2 hit) while in the sunlight (-1 hit) [TN 15] (1d20+1): 6+1 = 7, miss. Gobax throws a second magical stone at Burzan with excellent aim (+2 hit) while in the sunlight (-1 hit) [TN 15] (1d20+1): 12+1 = 13, miss. Gobax throws a third magical stone at Burzan with excellent aim (+2 hit) while in the sunlight (-1 hit) [TN 15] (1d20+1): 3+1 = 4, miss.

"If I expire down here, take my stuff and sell it for whatever you can. Keep a quarter for your troubles and give the rest to Arulia's sister with a message," grunts the dwarf as he tries to cleave a skeleton in twain. "Tell her, that's the sister with the broken arm, that it's a gift from an errant dwarf who just requests that she lights a candle in memory on each anniversary (of receiving the gift.)"

Well, this certainly was something going on, and unless Gobax found himself a small army, he's going to need help against this many foes. Given that the soldiers probably weren't expecting this, they're probably somewhat confused, and the crowd milling about will only add to that but... odds are still stacked against the good guys here.

To try and alleviate this, Haahqae does his best to increase the confusion and spread the soldiers thin. To this end he casts an illusion cantrip on the other side of the road, making the sound of Maniacal laughter coming from just out of sight on top of one of the buildings, followed by some arcane mumbling. For the sound of the voice, Haahqae will use the latest black robed mage he remembers hearing, so Magnus.

Grubnick prepares to cast hold person on the group of baaz approaching. He tries to time the spell so that it holds the nearest 4 just before they reach the glyph.

===
Hope the intention is clear. he wants to hold as many as possible around the area of the glyph so they are in range of the blast, then the stragglers set it off.

*crosses fingers.

Haahqae and Gobax (River Way)
Focusing his concentration, Haahqae conjures an illusion of a man speaking. His voice is unintelligible, but it gets the attention of Burzan and the remaining baaz guards, who look around trying to figure out where the voice is coming from.

The front six baaz, however, head to the forest with their blades drawn. Just as they are about to reach Gobax, he casts his spell. Three of them freeze in mid-stride, but the fourth one is completely unaffected. The magic just washes off it, like water down a duck's back. He steps onto the glyph, causing it to burst in flame. It singes the baaz a bit, but otherwise does not seriously harm him. He takes a swing at Gobax, but the goblin easily dodges it. The other two baaz come at him from the sides, but he manages to avoid both of their swings, as well.

"It's a goblin!" cries the fourth one. "Some kind of magic user! Don't let it cast!"

===========

Initiative
Haahqae (1d10+1): 7+2 = 9
Gobax (1d10+5): 7+5 = 12
Baaz (1d10+5): 9+5 = 14

Round 1!

Haahqae uses an illusion cantrip to create a voice.
Gobax readies a Hold Person spell.
Baaz move to attack Gobax. Gobax casts his spell just as they reach the glyph.
----Baaz 01 has magic resistance [TN 20%] (1d100): 64, fail. He saves vs. spell [TN 17] (1d20): 4, fail. He is held for 10 rounds.
----Baaz 02 has magic resistance [TN 20%] (1d100): 58, fail. He saves vs. spell [TN 17] (1d20): 11, fail. He is held for 10 rounds.
----Baaz 03 has magic resistance [TN 20%] (1d100): 85, fail. He saves vs. spell [TN 17] (1d20): 14, fail. He is held for 10 rounds.
----Baaz 04 has magic resistance [TN 20%] (1d100): 1, pass. The spell has no effect.
Baaz 04 steps on the glyph, triggering it. He has magic resistance [TN 20%] (1d100): 71, fail. He saves vs. spell [TN 17] (1d20): 4, fail. He takes (5d4): 1,4,2,3,4 = 14 damage. Baaz 04 is now near death. He then swings his long sword at Gobax [TN 16] (1d20): 3, miss.

"Of course," Sadron replies. "My people were driven from our ancestral homeland of thousands of years. Many of my friends are dead. And I'm trapped in an occupied city where most of the population would happily turn me over to the enemy." He shakes his head. "Sometimes it's hard for me to even get out of bed each day. But what other choice do I have? Besides...it's not all bad. At least I get to see you every day."

Ne-Chanz and Shima (Central Haven Sewers)
Shima blocks another spear thrust with his shield while asking his favor. Ne-Chanz, however, is grazed in the arm. The minotaur counters, destroying the skeleton by knocking it into pieces. Now only one opponent remains. Shima swings at it, but the skeleton parries with the butt of its spear. Although its three comrades have been shattered, it continues fighting without fear of death.

Initiative
Ne-Chanz (1d10+5): 1+5 = 9
Shima (1d10+5): 3+5 = 12
Skeleton 03 (1d10+6): 1+6 = 9
Skeleton 04 (1d10+6): 3+6 = 7

Round 5!

Skeleton 04 stabs at Shima with its spear against his leather armor (+2 hit) [TN 14] (1d20+2): 4+2 = 6, miss.
Skeleton 03 stabs at Ne-Chanz with its spear [TN 13] (1d20): 13, hit for (1d6): 2 damage.
Ne-Chanz swings his long sword with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) at Skeleton 03 [TN 10] (1d20+1): 13+1 = 14, hit for (1d8+2): 6+2 = 9/2 = 4 damage. Skeleton 03 crumbles to dust.
Shima swings his long sword at Skeleton 03 [TN 11] (1d20): 5, miss.

Kendra laughs lightly at his last statement, and shakes her head in amusement. "I'm not exactly a source of sunshine, but as long as you are finding a positive in it all," she says. "I never...really thought that I would see you again, or that you even think of me."

[Directions given consider "Up" on the map above as north.]

Grubnick's heart leaps at the success of the paralyzing magic, but doesn't have long to enjoy the moment before the other three move in to attack. The explosion goes off as planned, but to his surprise the baaz survives! Though it seems a strong breeze might finish that one off.

Desperately he dives towards the held Baaz to the southwest of him, trying to roll past it to put the magically held soldiers between himself and the active ones. He continues to try to move southwest in order to get in range of the rest of the group.

====
Tumble through Baaz #1's square to south. Move southwest 2 squares then south 1 to ideally end 2 squares to the right of Xyleena.

An explosion in the distance just confirms that Gobax has some sort of plan up his sleeve, Haahqae doesn't know what the extent of his plan is, but that doesn't scare him away from attempting to help him with the plan, especially if he can remain invisible.

The hallmark of failure in poorly co-ordinated or poorly led armies is that their soldiers are not willing to fight when it appears that things are going wrong, and in confusion it is easy to mistake a fleeing ally for a compelling reason that something is going wrong. If Haahqae could convince a few of the baaz that they were in a losing fight and that they should flee, in the confusion it might cause all of them to run away. And if that happened, victory might be obtainable.

Skirting around the edge of the soldiers, Haahqae makes his way over to Xleena and whispers "boo" as he casts his spell.

(Cast Scare on the highest concentration of enemies within range. If Haahqae manages to go before the Baaz, this would be centered on Burzan.)

Haahqae and Gobax (River Way)
Gobax starts tumbling, going right under one of the held draconian's legs, then continues until he's about 10 feet away from Xyleena. Meanwhile, Haahqae drops the cantrip and begins chanting a new spell after moving closer to Xyleena. He covers the area in a blanket of fear, which unfortunately includes himself, Gobax and the dwarf. Luckily, Gobax is able to resist it. The citizens caught in the scare bubble start to bolt, while the draconians and Burzan simply tremble and look around anxiously, their weapons at the ready, trying to figure out what is happening.

The baaz that was badly wounded by the glyph limps out of the trees and starts shouting. "We're under attack! Someone get reinforcements! We have one or more spellcasters here! Call the dragon!"

The other two baaz emerge from the trees and go after Gobax, swinging at him.

===========

Initiative
Haahqae (1d10+2): 8+2 = 10
Gobax (1d10+3): 2+5 = 7
Baaz (1d10+5): 10+5 = 15

Round 2!

Gobax makes a tumbling check [TN 17] (1d20): 16, pass. He tumbles 5 feet southwest, 5 feet south, 10 feet southwest, and 5 feet south (25 feet total).
Haahqae moves 5 feet southeast and then 10 feet east (10 feet total). He then casts Scare, centered on Burzan.
----Burzan, Yvette, Xyleena, Raena, 7 citizens, Haahqae and Baaz 7-12 suffer a -2 to reaction, -1 to attack, -1 to damage and -1 to all saves for (1d4+3): 1+3 = 4 rounds.
----Delharn saves vs. spell [TN 14] (1d20): 12, fail. He suffers -2 to reaction and -1 to attack/damage/saves.
----Gobax saves vs. spell [TN 14] (1d20): 14, pass. He is not afraid.
Baaz 04 limps 5 feet southeast and starts shouting for reinforcements.
Baaz 05 moves 10 feet southwest, then 10 feet south and swings his long sword at Gobax while he is tumbling (-4 hit) [TN 16] (1d20-4): 17-4 = 13, miss.
Baaz 06 moves 5 feet southwest, 20 feet south and 10 feet west (35 feet total) and swings his long sword at Gobax [TN 16] (1d20): 11, miss.

Looking into her eyes, Sadron says, "I never stopped thinking about you. Not even for a day." He reaches out to touch her cheek, but then realizes what he is doing and stops himself. "I'm sorry things couldn't have been different between us."

Ne-Chanz and Shima (Central Haven Sewers)
Shima takes another spear wound, but he and Ne-Chanz both manage to hurt the last skeleton in return. It is now on its last legs, so to speak. Another good, solid hit should destroy it.

Initiative
Ne-Chanz (1d10+5): 2+5 = 7
Shima (1d10+5): 4+5 = 9
Skeleton 04 (1d10+6): 3+6 = 9

Round 6!

Ne-Chanz swings his long sword with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) at Skeleton 04 [TN 10] (1d20+1): 2+1 = 3, miss.
Skeleton 04 stabs at Shima with its spear against his leather armor (+2 hit) [TN 14] (1d20+2): 14+2 = 16, hit for (1d6): 4 damage.
Shima swings his long sword at Skeleton 04 [TN 11] (1d20): 11, hit for (1d8): 3/2 = 1 damage.
Ne-Chanz swings his long sword with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) at Skeleton 04 [TN 10] (1d20+1): 9+1 = 10, hit for (1d8+2): 8+2 = 10/2 = 5 damage. Skeleton 04 is now critically damaged.
