Act 2, Scene 3: Twisting Paths

The 2E AD&D Homebrew Sandbox world of Genwald is large, ancient, and magical. There are many undiscovered/untamed places. The Sun Kingdom (European style, Late Medieval Human NG Monarchy) is the basic Campaign area, but PCs can end up anywhere.

The scars of ancient battles of titanic proportions mark the land. Wild magic zones, fantastical terrain, grand adventure, political strife, and even artifacts of wonder await. Choose your part and come make your mark on the world. A wide array of unconventional races and classes are available.

We weren't hiding per se. Just making it look like we fought our way back to the entrance.
Maybe leave a body on the bigger puddles.

Ooc: I believe we were going to the less crowded passage and proceed from there.

Yep, that sounds right. The trail was to make anyone from the more crowded room think we went back outside rather than deeper, if they send a patrol.

Linar leads the way Westward, quietly scouting the tunnel. He soon returns with news. The passage West leads to a chamber but it is absolutely full of women and children. There is, however, a narrow gap in the wall along the south side of the passage leading there. But it is too small for even myself to slip through. A gnome or halfling might be able to manage it. Beyond that opening I heard a pair of goblins talking and the sounds of chains and tools beyond. It could be where they are keeping their slaves...

Findalsip will move forward to the opening and cautiously move to the opening, listening for the sounds of what ever is on the other side. He looks for length, depth, and language he might understand to determine what intel he can gather.

Fin creeps forward quietly as one born of darkness. He hears a pair of voices speaking back and forth in a language he doesn't understand.

After a few moments he hears one say in common, Not dere, stooopid hooman! More low! We no want to climb da roof! An if little Gnome tired just drag her! Stoopid hoomans. That why you get rocks for food! the tirade is followed by giggling and the sound of rocks being thrown, mostly striking stone but a few sounding as if they hit flesh. The jingling of chain and clink of feeble pick-work can be picked out beyond...

The passage is narrow and short, pethaps only 5-10 fet long at most. There is a turn in the middle such that a Gnome might crawl through to the other side

Bull moves up closer to the corner behind Linar to his right with his bow ready. Trying to be as quiet as a 700 lbs Minotaur can. Putting an arrow on his string and waiting.

Findalsip inches closer to the other side paying attention to the stone and feeling for anything abnormal. He continues to listen.

Fin lowers himself to his hands and knees and places his head inside the small tunnel, just barely high enough for him to crawl. The words in the goblin tongue become more sparse and spontaneous, as if commenting on observations. The sound of clinking metal chains and inexpertly wielded tools on stone ring dissonantly from beyond...

Findalsip retreats back from whence he came and reports the presence of goblins and possible prisoners maybe women and children and the sounds of mining. “Perhaps we can use that to our advantage” he remarks to the others.

There seem to be only 2 directions to proceed in; the main passage south and this small crawlspace. the Drow says. Even without armor it would be very tough for me to fit through. But... if someone smaller were to scout it out, we would have a better idea of what we face to the south. It sounded like at least 2 guards through the passage... do you two think you could take them out quietly? Linar asks Jordek and Fin

====
I'll allow an elf or felis without armor to try to squeeze through the opening if they want to try, but it will be at Dex-4, and of they fail they are stuck.

Jordek, Fin and Dran are the only party members able to fit through w/o a check

Findalsip looks at the Drow with an unsettled look. "Sending a priest to do wet work is... well... odd. If only the Pech were here. They could make short work of these retched goblins and whatnot. I do have an idea of how I could get close. Although I don't know if Jordek would like donning goblin attire." he states in a quiet voice.
