As Charles and Alexandre approach Amon, they run into a problem: Dogmeat growls at them menacingly.
They look at each other, shrug, and attempt to gag Echo first.
(ooc: Jaded, a DEX check please for Amon to get at the ring unnoticed?)

Amon is grateful for the dog's distraction, as it allows him to reach into his pocket and get the ring out. He manages to slip it on his finger and quickly projects his thoughts back to his master.
Master Soulstaff, I fear we are in grave danger. The mansion is not haunted, but inhabited by smugglers. They have captured us and intend to ransom Echo and myself back to the council. The smuggler leader seems to be a wizard. Please, help us.
==========
Amon makes a DEX check (
1d20): 5, pass. Just barely.

Searos groans as he hears Amon "reveal" who he and Echo are. "Man, are you serious? Do you know how much leverage and surprise you just cost us." Searos bangs his head lightly on the ground. "That being said, I gotta respect the way this dude does business. Find out what you got, make a plan, and take advantage of it. Clean and professional looking."
Searos nods at Gudrum, "I guess I was right not to trust you, wasn't I Runty?"

Brax stands next to Vee, unmoving, "Unless you have a desire for ladies clothes or perhaps some bandages, my pack will reveal nothing." She says as she raises her arms above her head.
"Did you expect anything else Master Searos?" She comments to the thief.

Searos shrugs as best he can at Brax's comment. "Guess not. A lordling expects to announce his name and for others to follow. They don't seem to get that normal men don't give a rat's behind about their precious titles. I still do have a question though. I want to know what these guys are smuggling."

It takes some time before Amon gets a response, and it sounds distracted, as if Daos's attention was somewhere else.
Why have you broken contact, Amon? I tried to reach you all day. Daos's voice says in his head.
"We'll see that when we've looked through it" Andrew tells Brax. "As it is, I just love to pick my way through ladie's clothes" he laughs.

Amon does not answer Searos, as he's busy having a different conversation through a very different medium.
It's a long story, Master, I'm sorry. The dark elf in our group could somehow project her thoughts into my head even without a ring of her own. It disturbed me enough that I removed it until now.

Ah, I see. Daos's thoughts come through a little more focused now. Are you in immediate danger now? And what do you suggest I do?

Amon had expected Daos to chew him out, but certainly didn't expect he'd ask for suggestions. Amon's mind races quickly.
There aren't very many of them, as far as I can tell. A handful of humans, a pair of gnolls, and then the wizard himself. If my father rounds up the town militia and sends them in, I can lead you here through my thoughts.

After a minute or two, Daos answers. You're lucky, Amon. I'm just having dinner with your father. We will discuss this. I'll let you know what we decide.
Hugo, who is coming back to his senses fully now the healing potion takes effect, turns to Searos: "Well, man, come over to our side then. You'll learn everything you want."

Amon sighs in relief. Surely his father and teacher will come through for them. Now it was just a matter of time of biding their time. He looks over to Echo to check on her.

(OOC: Amon doesn't hear Brax anymore, btw, explained the ring to Breila by e-mail)
"You will find nothing, but no matter." Brax shrugs, "Indeed, what are you smuggling?" She looks them straight in the eyes, her own Red eyes glowing brightly.

Searos rolls over and sits up so he can look at Hugo. "You serious? An invitation just like that? What would my cut be?"

Gunter listens to Searos' conversation, shaking his head and keeping his mouth shut. He scans the other smugglers, sizing them up.

Echo mutters something through her gag. She looks to Amon, as if this was all his fault. Clearly, she is not too happy about this situation.
