Targin is searched next. The guard finds a bottle of Solanthian mead on him. "Hmm, hey, wasn't there a report of someone stealing some mead from the Gleaming Gem?" one guard asks the other.

"Hmm, yeah. But that was kender, from what I remember."

"Oh, right," the first guard adds, putting the bottle back. "Nevermind then."

Ash is also searched, albeit carefully after Targin's warning. Nothing objectionable found there, so they let both the dwarf and pony pass with the others.

Again only a bit miffed, he watches the guards, and then listens to their exchange. Thinking to himself, you'd think they would be looking for something a bit more than his mead.

" 'ave a good evenin'."

Galenye gives Erastin a small nudge in the ribs. "I could have handled that myself, you know," she whispers angrily.

"I am sorry my Lady." He bows in an exaggerated fashion, "Allow me to make it up to you." all this is said in a whisper. "I can't loose you." He admits honestly.

"A knight is going to find lock-picking tools?" Galenye asks. She holds back a laugh, but it comes out more like a giggle. "Yeah, I'm not going to have you do that. I can do it by myself," she whispers in return. "And what do you mean you can't lose me? Who said that was going to happen?"

"These guards are intent to find something, look at the way they are searching our things. People that carry picks are not treated well. You know that." He takes her hand. "I need your help on this. Getting locked up for being a suspected thief is not going to do that." He hated lying, but could he tell her? Not yet.

"I doubt they would have locked me up for having picks on me, Erastin," Galenye says sounding a tad frustrated. "And I really don't see how you need my help at the moment anyway. Without any of my tools, I'm really kind of useless," she admits sourly as she pulls her hand away from Erastin and crosses her arms over her chest.

Sighing Erastin waits for the others, this journey had been one learning experience after another. Most importantly, he didnt understand women. "Sorry." He mouths, stepping back with Galen.

Karathos is next in line, and he simply walks up to the guards slowly, holding his arms high enough so that the guards can check him. "Please be gentle, I was wounded on the road" he asks them.

Jinali subjects herself to the search, too.

Although rather wary, the sentries find nothing objectionable on either Karathos or Jinali, and both are allowed to pass.

"Welcome to Solanthus," one says. "Stay out of trouble."

Once they pass through the gate into town, Selowen poses a question. "Should we check into an inn? Which one? He mentioned two of them."

"The Gleaming Gem?" Erastin asks the group, moving slowly.

One inn is just as good as the other, at least as far as anyone in the group knows. They head to the Gleaming Gem Inn.

After Galen and Ash are stabled (which costs 5 silver each), the party steps inside the inn. It's clean, albeit dimly lit. Behind the bar is a older man with a bald crown, but a mane of greying hair down to his shoulders from the back. He also has a bushy mustache and is wearing a fairly clean apron.

An wrinkly woman of about the same age stands in the common area, sweeping up quietly. Serving tables are two younger versions of both, a young blond man and a rather attractive blonde woman.

It's currently dinner time, and there are a number of people sitting in the common room, eating. These include a black-skinned woman, an off-duty soldier, and a pair of half-elves (male and female).

Everyone seems fairly busy when the party enters, so nobody welcomes them or even really pays them much mind.

===========

Targin and Erastin both pay 5 silver for stabling.

Galenye walks up to the man at the bar. "How much for a room for the night?" she asks.

"Good evening, my dear," the innkeeper says. Despite his appearance, his voice is quite velvety and smooth. "A single two-bed room is five silver a night. Meals are another silver."
