CH 4: Heart of Darkness

[JadedDM]

"Hmph," Dalaim huffs. "Well, sorry to snap at you, lass. I know your heart is in the right place, but we have to be practical about this. It seems like just about everything has gone wrong with this expedition so far. I'd hate to leave here after all this hardship with nothing at all to show for it."

[HorizonsDream]

"Well, we can still look around, but, in the end, aren't you leaving with more knowledge than what you started out with?" Jocelyn asks. "That isn't nothing, at least according to Gonto."

[Jenara]

"Where next?" Arei asks, making sure Ourgana has charge of Maua.

[JadedDM]

"Good question," responds Oren. "Should we continue south, or try heading west?"

[Jenara]

"South? We cover that area, to make sure no one sneaks up behind us." Thinking of that she looks behind her. Would it be possible to block the door to the building behind her with some of the rubble (from the building to the west?)

[JadedDM]

It should be possible, although it may take an hour or so even with everyone pitching in to help.

[Jenara]

"We could bar the door behind us, to at least slow them down." Arei suggests, "Although it would take some time I suppose. It is just a thought."

[HorizonsDream]

"They are passed out, and they probably don't even know we were in there," Jocelyn points out. "So, I say we just continue on."

[Breila]

"Yes, from what you tell us, they pose no threat" Ouragana agrees. "Let'sgo South then. And if I'm in charge of Maua while we're walking, I cannot watch out backs, so someone else must to it" she points out as they head on.

[JadedDM]

The party walks southward for a few minutes before they hear something further south. They hear voices. The language is that of the tribals, but it sounds like they are greeting each other, having conversations, and so forth. There is also the occasional high-pitched squeal of a child's voice.

[Jenara]

"Children." She shakes her head, her elven ears pricking up, "Leave them." She warns, changing direction.

[Nuke]

Hesitant to offer any opinion, Val follows along.

[HorizonsDream]

"Seems we are heading into the heart of their village," Jocelyn says.

[Breila]

"Yes, and that is decidedly where I don't want to go" Ouragana says, stopping in her tracks. "We will be overpowered, and either die or do a massacre. Let's turn around, go West if Dalaim cannot be persuaded to go back yet."

[Jenara]

"We go West." Arei says with some Authority, "I do not wish to decimate a whole village."
