Re: CH. 16: Homecoming
"If she is a fanatic there is nothing we can do. Otherwise maybe we can convince her Naishe isn't a bad person. That is after Gallath convinces us the same!" Baeros stares at Gallath.
Re: CH. 16: Homecoming
Jocelyn, Ouragana, Baeros, Gallath and Drav (The Hold)
"Well, this spell won't last forever," Sierra points out. She grabs Penta and drags her into another cell. This time after closing and locking it, she pushes some heavy crates in front of the door to block it. "Hopefully that will hold her for awhile. If you can convince her to act civil, that's fine. But if not, we're dropping her off at the next island we pass."
Val and Naras (Under the Sea)
Naras prays to Gonto to allow both she and Val to breathe underwater. Val then makes a graceful swan dive into the sea without a problem. Naras, who does not know how to swim or dive, simply hops over the railing and falls the 50 feet before belly flopping into the water, hard. It hurts quite a bit, but then she just sinks like a stone. Her lungs fill with water, but she does not drown due to the spell. But it's certainly an unnerving feeling, breathing water.
Two undine swim over and grab her by the shoulders to stop her descent. They, along with the other undine, start swimming off to the east, going deeper. Val swims after them. It gets darker and colder as they go, until they're required to use their infravision to see anything. At the bottom of the ocean, they reach the base of the nearby island, and head into some honeycombed caves there that are guarded by more undine and trained barracudas.
The two are guided to a large chamber where there are numerous wounded undine floating around. Others swim to and fro, doing their best to bandage their wounds with kelp. From a glance, the wounds appear to be from some kind of large bites.
The undine point out three of their kind that are separated from the rest of the wounded. They look to be the worst off. They include a woman and two men. Naras is deposited next to them, settling on the ground. Moving and walking is possible, but slow due to the water resistance.
Naras casts Water Breathing on herself and Val for three hours each.
Val makes a swimming check to dive into the water [TN 14] (1d20): 8, pass. She dives in without trouble.
Naras belly flops into the water, taking (1d6): 4 damage.

Re: CH. 16: Homecoming
"Gallath, I'll leave you in charge of Naishe. She was just defending herself, but we can't have the both of them trying to kill each other on this ship. I guess the rest of us will be in charge of trying to convince Penta not to kill Naishe for the time being."
Re: CH. 16: Homecoming
Naras uses her medical {Healing/Herbalsim} knowledge to determine which of the three seriously wounded is the most so, and to look for any poison or infection. She notes in passing if they all look like male warrior or guards.
While checking them out, the kohen makes an effort at small-talk.
In orcish: "Val, ever seen anything like this place before?" and "Had any encounters with Undine before?"
In Mermanish: "So other than 'they were bitten' how did these people receive there wounds? What's the story behind it?" and "Have you encountered a dwarf before? Or a priest of Gonto?"
Post examination the dwarf casts Cure Moderate Wounds on the most seriously damaged of the three and then Cure Light Wounds on each of the other pair.

"Would you like to talk to her first or shoud I try?" Ouragna asks Jocelyn.
There's more to me than meets the eye...
Re: CH. 16: Homecoming
Jocelyn, Ouragana, Baeros, Gallath and Drav (The Hold)
Naishe groans, then starts to move. She stretches a bit and pops her back. "Was that necessary?" she asks. "I was just trying to defend myself." She looks to Drav and Gallath. "So why did you try to tackle me?"
Val and Naras (Undine Village)
Naras looks over the three wounded undine carefully. They're all on their last legs...well, if they had any legs, that is. They don't appear to be poisoned or infected, though. The wounds have been bandaged and cleaned. They should heal on their own, eventually--a few weeks without the use of magic.
To Val, she says, "Blurb, bloooop, blurb, gloop?" It suddenly occurs to her that while her spell allows her to breathe underwater, speaking is another thing altogether. Her words are just nonsense. Should Val attempt to speak, she'll have the same problem.
The undine clearly don't understand what Naras says to them. And when she tries to heal the wounded, she runs into the same problem. Her words come out as gibberish, and the prayers cannot be completed without saying the verbal component perfectly.
However, the undine seem capable of speaking well enough. Their words are a bit distorted to Naras' water-filled ears, but she can understand them when they talk. Maybe they have some kind of special speech organ or maybe it's just a lifetime of practice of speaking underwater. "What are you saying?" asks one of the men who brought her here.
(OOC: Naras determines that the female undine is at -7 HP, and the two males are -6 and -3 HP.)

Re: CH. 16: Homecoming
"Yeah, go ahead, Ouragana," Jocelyn says.
Re: CH. 16: Homecoming
"Because we don't want anyone dead" Ouragana answers Naishe. "I suggest you go above deck again, and I will try to talk to Penta when she wakes up".
She sits on one of the crates and holds her ear to the door (I assume there is no peephole or window in the door since that would be a point of weakness).

Val does attempt to speak, just to verify what she has heard.
She then pulls out an empty potion bottle and holds it up questioningly

Re: CH. 16: Homecoming
Naras nods to Val, and gives a thumbs up to acknowledge the good idea.
The dwarf points at the first wounded and then at the bottle full of air, indicating 1 finger.
She then points at the second wounded and then at the bottle, holding up 2 fingers.
She then points at the third wounded and then at the bottle, counting using 3 fingers.
Naras looks at Val to see if there's understanding.

Naishe frowns. "Don't expect Penta to share that sentiment toward you," she says to Ouragana, before storming upstairs.
"I'll have some marines come down to act as guards, in case she manages to get out," Sierra offers.
Val and Naras (Undine Village)
Naras finds some sand in which she can draw in. She considers what to write, as the merfolk have no written language (there is no paper or ink under the sea, after all) that the undine would actually understand.
The two undine that carried her here look at the empty bottle the half-orc is holding, but don't seem to understand what she is trying to communicate. They just shrug helplessly.

Re: CH. 16: Homecoming
If the bottle is stoppered and contains air, Naras takes it (if still offered) from Val and moves right next to the first of the wounded. She turns the bottle upside down to keep the air inside and unstoppers it quickly getting her mouth over the neck of the bottle to get it's content into her lungs. She then tries exhaling slowly speaking the required words for Cure Moderate Wounds.
Failing the above, Naras has a water skin which if emptied above the surface of the sea could be filled with air as an extension of the theme. If necessary Naras will point to the bottle and the water-skin, point at Val and then up to the surface of the sea, adding gestures and mime for the dwarf breathing from the water-skin, something coming out of her mouth and then her touching the wounded as per a Cure Wounds spell.

Jocelyn follows after Naishe. "Wait a minute," she says. "Not that it matters, but do you really have demon blood?" she asks.

Gallath sighs and follows Naishe upstairs. (If she answers Jocelyn honestly) "So, can you sense demon blood in others?"
