Jocelyn, Ouragana, Baeros, Gallath and Drav (Alley behind Temple of Renos/Sardonx 15th, 11 PM)
"My point exactly," Sable replies. "There is more to life than survival. I suppose the simplest way would be to kill Scourge. Although that's easier said than done. He's almost always surrounded by a very loyal crew of pirates after all. And he's no slouch in battle, either. But if you could pull off, I'd become captain and then could call off the search on you."

(OOC: Yes, Gallath told the party about it back in Mond.)

Val and Naras (Ixitxachitl Lair/Sardonx 12th, 1 PM)
Naras takes the time to search through the area. It's mostly items that were clearly stolen from ships, perhaps ones that sank. There are some ballistae bolts, rolled up canvas sails, an old cannon, and some sealed barrels.

(OOC: Yes, all spells are wiped from one's mind upon reaching 0 HP.)

Jocelyn picks up the ends of her robes a little bit, and shakes them to get a point a across. "Peaceful, Sable," she says. "But if your desire is to become captain, why haven't you done that all ready?" she asks. "You obviously have people loyal to you?" she points out.

Naras shrugs, "Nothing useful I can see here, Val. Ok, time to move on. I shall try to find and rescue my friend. You should head back to Mist. It's stupid for both of us to end our days in here."

"Not enough support for a mutiny," Sable replies. "Most of the crew is quite loyal to Scourge. And peaceful? That didn't stop you from killing Niles. But fine. Let's see...aside from killing him and surrendering to him...fake your own death? He won't search for you if he thinks your dead. Turn the crew against him? Without their support, I could easily mutiny and have him overthrown. Lure him into some kind of trap? Although I'm not sure how, he's quite paranoid and always brings powerful bodyguards with him wherever he goes, even to the head." She shrugs. "I'm open to other suggestions."

Jocelyn looks at the others in her group. "Any ideas?" she asks. "Ouragana?"

During Sable speech Baeros whispers in Naishe ears, "Is she a demon?" and after that speech "Didn't we say we will find the real murderer? Didn't we say we are not going to kill everyone?" Baeros whispers in Jocelyn ears his breath goes down her neck.

Ouragana shakes her head. "You know I'm totally unfamiliar with this world. I need time to develop ideas."
Then she hears what Bearos was saying and points out. "It was not Jocelyn who killed Niles, nor was it done on her orders. but I guess Scourge either wouldn't believe us, or turn against us, which helps nothing. He won't accept that it was Niles's foolishness of going beyond his orders that killed the boy."

Chris1234 wrote:"Thank you, Val," Naras replied, shaking her head as she stands up. "Well, frankly it's unbelievable that I asked you to help me attack the netted creature whilst ignoring, for two whole minutes, one that was trying to kill me. It's utterly incomprehensible; but I have heard of a Confusion spell."
The dwarf picks up her spear. Unexpectedly she gives Val a hug, "Thank you, Val. You should return to your your friend, 'Mist', I think it was. I need to try and rescue my friend in here. But first a quick look around this dead end." She starts to look around the area on the off cahnce of anything useful.

After looking round the area, she smiles grimly and holds up up a hand,"I know, I know. We do what we must rather than what makes sense."

======
{OOC: So Naras has now lost her remaining Command & Dispel Magic, correct?}
Val responds, "I thought you wanted to talk to it". A little taken back by the hug, she adds, "I suppose if you are willing to risk your life in here, I will help. Let's just hope we don't have to fight anymore."

"Thanks, Val. OK, let's press on then," returned Naras who then moved on towards the area where they hadn't been (around the corner and to the south).

Jocelyn, Ouragana, Baeros, Gallath and Drav (Alley behind Temple of Renos/Sardonx 15th, 11 PM)
"How would I know?" Naishe asks Baeros, crossing her arms. "Ask Penta, she's the one who can sense such things. Then again, don't. She'd probably say you're a demon, too and attack you."

Sable says to Ouragana, "You're likely right. Even if you could convince Scourge that Jocelyn didn't kill Ethan or Niles, I don't think it would make much difference. This is less about justice and more about revenge." Turning back to Jocelyn, she adds, "The way I see it, you have five options. And since surrendering and assassinating him aren't too your liking, that leaves deceiving him, capturing him and destroying his crew's loyalty to him.

"If you can trick him into thinking Jocelyn's dead, he'll stop chasing after you. However, that won't be easy. She's already escaped death once before after being made to walk the plank. He'll want to see her body, confirm it for himself. He likely won't be satisfied otherwise. So it will require some clever deception on your part.

"It might also be possible to capture him and turn him over to the authorities. That won't be easy, either. As I said, he's always surrounded by bodyguards. If you could somehow get him alone, though...even then, spiriting him away to the authorities wouldn't be easy, either. And you'd need to decide on which authorities to turn him over to. I'd recommend whichever one offers the biggest bounty, personally. But there's the Immerfort Navy, the Guild and the Church of Octhanus. The Blue Lightning would probably want him, too."

"Likewise, destroying the loyalty of his men won't be easy, either. I'm not sure how you could do it, but...if you could somehow prove that Scourge killed Ethan instead, they would likely turn on him. It makes more sense that Scourge is responsible anyway than it does that you would be. He had everything to gain, after all. And he was also the one who most passionately insisting you were the real culprit." She shrugs. "Even if it's not true, it's probably your best bet. It's not like Scourge is an innocent soul or anything."

Val and Naras (Ixitxachitl Lair/Sardonx 12th, 1 PM)
The duo this time take the tunnel to the east. It turns to the south for a very long distance. After crossing it for several minutes, they start to hear the sound of battle up ahead--yelling and cries of pain. One person calls out an order and it sounds like Serenna's voice. They aren't close enough to see anything yet, they'll need to continue down this tunnel.

"Is there any evidence left that would prove that he killed Ethan?" Jocelyn asks. "I mean if I was powerful enough, I could ask him myself providing I had his body. I guess the best option would be to try to capture him, and turn him over to the church."

Ouragana looks skeptical at Jocelyn's words. ""We're not really strong enough or clever enough to snatch someone from the middle of his followers. And even if we managed that, the Church is probably far away and we could all get killed before we have a chance to hand him over. I'd prefer trying to prove that Scrouge killed Ethan and thus destroy the loyalty of his men.".
