"Well, I guess if I bunk with the pathfinder, I won't have trouble finding my room at the end of the night!" Bastian laughs heartily at his own joke, but lets it die as he realizes that no one else is laughing with him.

"You jest," Elias says smiling, "But I find that after an evening of wine and merrymaking some have required my direction in getting to their rooms after all."
"I can stay with our employer," he continues, speaking to Angel. "I don't need to go into town."

Re: Borderlands II - This is the game thread
There is no sign of a place called "The Bell in Hand" anywhere near the gate, but the guardsman did say it was halfway up the first turning. From where you are standing, you can see two taverns, an inn, and an two inns with attached taverns within sight of the gate.Jenara wrote:Angel looks for the sign for the bell and hand, it should be obvious which one.. (What size building is it? Would it have rooms)
As for the taverns, although none have a written sign, it is fairly easy to make out their names from the signs out front. The Grey Wolf looks like a low dive, even from the outside, but the Leaping Lion looks more friendly. The inn, called the White Bird Guesthouse, looks to be expensive, judging from the look of the doorman, who is well-dressed and wearing a sword. The Blind Knight inn and tavern looks decent, as does the Titan inn and tavern.
A corral with several mules, horses and other beasts of burden, attached to a stable, can be seen on the right side of the street. There are lamps burning on either side of the gate and a young man working in the corral.
Not a fool when it comes to money, Fraso dismisses the White Bird and looks at the two inn/taverns nearby. "One place is as good as another, I suppose. And no, I shall not need all of you this evening. Perhaps just one or two. The rest of you may consider yourselves at liberty until morning."

"The Titan Inn and Tavern? Now THAT sounds like a place for revelry!!! What say you, Master Fraso? Do you seek the company of the immortals!?" Bastion says with exuberance and a little too much gusto. The look on his face betrays no mischief, but his eyes say otherwise.

"As you said Master Fraso, one looks as good as the next. Still I one or two of us check it out before we enter." Angel answers simply, "then we stable the horses."
" Kid never learned to clear a room. Doors and corners, I told him. Doors and corners."

Papa volunteers, "I'll do it." He walks in, his right hand close to his sword hilt, but otherwise confident of his ability to defend himself against any sudden ambush, especially with his god at his back.
He checks the interior of both the inn and its stables, and in the meantime inspects all the young women of age 18 or older. The pressure has been building ever since he received the word from Fraso...

Re: Borderlands II - This is the game thread
After Fraso dismounts, Hiric guides the wagon towards the stable/corral, which is located across the street from the inns and taverns. The proprietor is a bit disgruntled at receiving customers so far past closing time, but knows better than to be too pushy about it.
[OOC] I'm going to hand-wave the offloading of the wagon. I don't see any real need to roleplay the PCs coming to a decision about who stands on the street with Fraso, who carries luggage, and who takes the horses to the stable. [/OOC]
Papa walks boldly into the Titan and finds it to be a quiet, more or less homey place. It looks as though it has seen richer days, but is still more than serviceable. The public room is clean, and well lit. The guest rooms are a bit small, clearly they were originally intended to be single occupant rooms and have been re-purposed as doubles.
The others arrive shortly thereafter, bearing Fraso and his luggage.
[OOC] I'll post a map when I can, probably tomorrow. [/OOC]

After checking Praesul is safe she enters the inn, taking everything but her saddle with her.
Seeing Papa's face Angel gently places a hand on his arm. "Wait until our charge is safe, then do what you have to do." She's seen this look before...
Approaching Fraso she smiles, "My Lord, it appears too late for the market, we should settle in for the night.."

Papa looks a bit incredulously at Angel, but he just nods and shrugs, though he does not stop eyeing the young women around.
His gaze keeps passing over Angel herself, though. Apparently, in Papa's mind, Angel is far more 'mercenary' than 'female'.

Re: Borderlands II - This is the game thread
[ooc]Angel would actually be rather taken back if she was considered 'Female' to Papa...[/ooc]
Angel stands quietly surveying the room, waiting on the others.
(She will arrange a room for herself and Sallia, as discussed).

Bastian goes to his room and quickly removes his armor before returning to the bar. He sidles up to the counter and waits to be approached by the barkeep.

Elias waits on the others while they put their things away. After everyone is settled he takes his own gear to his room, keeping his sword, and comes back down to find some food and a comfortable place to sit where he can keep an eye on his employer.
"A smoke Bastian?" Elias asks, as he stuffs his pipe with tobacco.

Angel places the majority of her gear in the room, Including her armor and helm.
Changing into a light pair of breeches and white shirt, she ties her hair back and leaves her cloak over her bed.
She retains her Sword, strapping it back to her belt.
Returning to the bar she orders some beer and finds a quiet table, to sit and watch the goings on.

Re: Borderlands II - This is the game thread
"No, I must confess, the pipeweed never held much fascination with me." for once, Bastian looks slightly forlorn, but it passes quickly. "Where is our barkeep? I feel I could eat a horse!" he looks over to Elias and said "At one point during a winter campaign, my company actually came to that! It wasn't that great, but it's better than old shoe leather!"

[OOC] I leave the board for a day and a half and look what happens! [/OOC]
The Titan has vacancies available, but not enough for all of you. The innkeeper, a thin man of medium height with a pipe clenched in his teeth, offers you the last three rooms he has available. That comes to six beds. He also has some cots which you may use in the rooms.
The three rooms available are the ones closest to the stairway leading to the second floor, which he always fills last, since they are the noisiest. Hiric sets about haggling the price with the innkeeper, since the party of eight must occupy accommodations for six.
Inn floor plan (link)
Once settled in (and someone please give me a final disposition as to who's staying in which room) Fraso leads the way down to the public room for dinner. The best cuts of meat are already gone, it being late, but the meal is passable. As you are finishing your meals, the night crowd starts arriving.
The Titan is a respectable place, with a decent class of customer, but it is near the gate, so it does not get the better class of locals. Most of the customers appear to be travelers. One table is occupied by a trio of well-dressed elves, and there are two tables of dwarves.
One table is occupied by a group who, if their appearance is any indication, are almost surely adventurers.
There is a stage in one corner of the taproom, but the night's entertainers have not yet begun their performance.
