CH. 5: The Sending is Coming from Inside the House

The waiter frowns, but agrees to this. The two head back upstairs, and approach room 10. The waiter insists on knocking, twice, and only then when there is no response does he insert the key and turn it. Pushing open the door, he steps in.

The room, a single, has only one bed. The curtains are drawn, but a bit of sunlight still manages to escape into the room. It's a cluttered mess, with her clothes and belongings scattered in a haphazard manner. There is no sigh of Tia herself, however.

The waiter appears relieved. "Guess she's not here," he says.

[Jenara]

"That is good, and bad at the same time." Looking around from the doorway Arei tries to check out the room, does it look like it has been used recently? Signs of the bed being used? Are there any weapons around?

[JadedDM]

There are no weapons around, unless they're hidden somewhere under the piles of dirty clothes. The sheets and blankets on the bed are messed up, indicating they have been used at some point in time.

[Jenara]

"I guess she'll be back sooner or later." Arei says with a shrug, turning she leaves the room and waits for him to lock it back up, keeping an eye on where he puts the key.

As he leaves she bumps into him by accident, finding the key in his pocket. (pick pockets: 46, pass).

The waiter and Areilon step outside, and he quickly locks the door again, looking around as if worried Tia will show up suddenly and demand to know what he's doing. With relief, he pockets the key and walks down the stairs with her.

When she 'bumps' into him, he says, "Ah, sorry. That was probably my fault." She easily gets the key without him ever noticing.

"No problem." She says with a bow, excusing herself as she pockets the key and goes to her room.

[Breila]

Arei finds Oura in thought. "There wasn't much we found at the mill, nothing but these footprints with the strange marks like from a spear used as walking stick" she says. "And the blood stains looked fresher than they should have been."

[Jenara]

"Well my fellow Elf was onto something I have no fear, she is not in her room, its a mess." She smiles, "Do you fancy taking a look at what she was working on?"

[Breila]

Ouragana looks at Areilon, puzzled. "How do you want to find that out?"

[Jenara]

"I have ways and means, if I can get us in, do you want to see?" She winks, tapping her pocket.

Jocelyn lets out a sigh as she finish off her breakfast. "Whatever they found when they first looked into it, might be different this time around," she says to Val.

[Breila]

Ouragana shakes her head and passes Areilon on her way back downstairs. "Would you like someone to pick through your things when you're gone?" she asks.

Downstairs, she approaches Jocelyn and Val. "I looked at what I noted after our excursion to the mill" she tells them. "All we found were footsteps with a strange marking beside them, like someone was using a spear as a walking stick. Or do you recall anything else, Val?" she asks the half-orc.

[Nuke]

"I don't remember anything important. There weren't many clues."

[Jenara]

Stepping outside Arei checks the corridor is clear and slips inside Tia's room.

Hubert and Frisno finish their meals and stand up, paying the waiter. They then approach Val, Ouragana and Jocelyn.

"Forgive me for eavesdropping," Hubert says, "but if I were you, I'd leave it be. The wardens don't like interference from outsiders anyway. I'm sure they'll solve this mystery soon enough. Besides, it's dangerous, especially for you lot. The victims have all been women, you know."

He gives a short wave as he departs. "Just some friendly advice." The two gnomes head out.

Meanwhile, upstairs, Areilon slips over to Tia's room and uses the key to unlock it. Quickly, she steps in and closes the door behind her before anyone comes by.
