CH. 8: Reunion

[Jenara]

"We all have our pasts." Arei says with a knowing nod, "Yours is affecting you right now, and us because.. And you might be suprised but we care.." She takes a pew and sits near the Cleric, "Val does as well, why she is chasing down the Assassin."

"As your past appears to be of important right now, perhaps you could do a little explaining?"

[Breila]

Ouragana sits down, too, and nods at Areilon's suggestion. "Yes, it would be good to know what we might have to expect."

Jocelyn looks at the two women skeptically before she lets out a sigh. "I'm from Draska," she finally says. "I grew up in an orphanage that, once the girls became older, were turned into prostitutes. I didn't exactly want to do that with my life, so I ran away, specifically on board a pirate ship. At first, I didn't do a whole lot other than wash the deck, and things like that. Though, the captain took a liking to me, and we formed a relationship which most of the crew wasn't happy about. One day, I woke up to find the captain dead beside me in bed. The crew assumed it was me that killed him, so I jumped overboard. I washed up on the shore of Sanctuary. In the beginning, I was using the church as a way to hide. Things changed after a little while as I started to adopt the faith, though. Like I said, I never thought I would get this far to where they would find me."

"You used to be a pirate?!" Ursa exclaims. Calming down, she adds, "Actually, that kind of explains a lot..."

Meanwhile, the chase continues. The two reach the woods, Val keeping a steady pace; not gaining any ground, but not losing any, either. The assassin appears to be tiring a bit faster than her. The two bob and weave between trees, ducking under low branches, and scaring a number of small woodland critters as they pass by.

"You would be surprised." Arei says with a knowing nod, "We all have our pasts, even Oura I am sure." Leaning back in the pew she continues. "They will not give up, you understand? There is no real alternative but to track them down.. and make them understand."

If Arei is shocked she doesn't show it, instead she raps her hand on her sword hilt. "I guess we are friends, or the closest we can be to such... I will aid you."

Val decides to press her quarry for a bit, she accelerates for a bit (1 round) to close the distance.

Jocelyn looks to her ward with a raised eyebrow, as if asking her silent what the hell she meant by that statement. "I didn't ask you for your aid," she says, turning her attention back to Arei. "And, as a follower of Octhanus, now, it probably isn't the best idea to seek these people out and kill them. It goes against the belief. Though, maybe I can prove to them that I didn't kill their captain."

[Breila]

Ouragana nods. "That sounds like a good idea, Do you have any idea how to do that? It might be hard to convince them, if they don't want to believe you."

[Jenara]

"I am aware you didn't ask." Arei says with a grin, "And you think that of me? That I suggested hunting down and killing them?" Resting her elbows on the pew she continues.

"We go and look for them, perhaps you can ask Octhanus to aid you?"

[HorizonsDream]

"Going to look for them without a plan is bad. They will kill me on sight. I need to find proof that I didn't kill him. The only proof I am going to find is on their ship, most likely." Jocelyn runs her fingers through her hair with a sigh.

[Breila]

"What is that proof?" Ouragana asks, sounding very interested.

[Jenara]

"Then..." Arei glances to the door to see if Val has returned. "What if I signed up as crew on said vessel? I've served on similar ships, perhaps that's a good way to try? Val can join me. If she ever returns!" She giggles outloud.

"So yes, to echo Oura, what would proof be, exactly?"

[Breila]

Oura nods. "Yes, and I could sign up as navigator. It seems that I'm a better navigator than mage, amyway."

Val picks up speed, halving the distance between the two.
