CH. 15 - Before the Dawn

Shima casually looks around the room, in truth looking for any likely weaponry that he can use in the event of things turning violent.
With a mental shrug he decides that he may as well expire trying to help his only friend in the world, regardless of how tentative and embryonic the friendship may be. Better than expiring alone in the sewers which was the previous plan. Although at least in the previous plan he'd have been able to have lunch first.

Kendra watches with emotionless eyes as Burzan strangles the old woman to death. Part of her wants to jump in there to stop him, but she knows that if she was to do that people would question her motives at this point. She bows her head for a moment, then turns and walks out of the kitchen figuring that Magus and Tulbas will at least follow her. "What was learned?" she asks softly.

Kendra and Tulbas (High Hand Inn, Kitchen)
Burzan finishes the job, snapping the old woman's neck. He then lets her limp body drop to the floor.

"I know where their base is," Magnus says. "I can take us there and we can wipe them out in one swoop."

Kendra steps outside, back into the common room. A goblin is looking at the door with concern. She recognizes him as the same goblin she met at Haahqae's performance.

"Nothing you need to worry about," the woman in black tells Gobax. "Government business. Move along."

Shima looks around the room for a weapon. The six baaz are all armed with short swords, of course. Aside from that, one might use a chair to bash someone or a broken bottle to stab.

The kitchen door swings open, and the Hero of Haven steps out. She is dressed in her spiked, black dyed studded leather armor that is bearing the emblem of the five headed dragon.

Tulbas follows obediently. 'Gods above, this goes down the hill so quickly. Better finish this rebel rise up as soon as possible and save the rest of the city from civil war.'

Kendra looks at the goblin at happens to be staring at her now that she has stepped out of the kitchen. She isn't sure she should say that she recognizes the goblin or not due to the fact that could very well get him killed at this point. "Is everything okay out here?" she asks the woman guarding the door. "We should be going," she adds.

Gobax stares surprised at the parade of others as they file out... the hero of Haven indeed... the thieves from the Belzorite lair... and... Tulbas?! the goblin asks, incredulously. Staring at the black-robed elf in surprise.

[can Gobax see the bartender's body through the door? And was he able to hear any part of their conversation about the resistance or their lair?]

Shima looks on, clueless as to what's transpiring.

Kendra and Tulbas (High Hand Inn, Kitchen)
"No problems here," Nora says to Kendra.

When Tulbas steps out with the others, Gobax actually says his name out loud in surprise. Then he tries to peek through the door to the kitchen before it closes.

"This place is under new management," announces Yvette. "I trust the new owner will have a better neck on their shoulders."

"No problems here," the cleric says to Kendra.

Peering through the kitchen door before it closes, Gobax spots Green Tears lying on the ground, her neck bent at an unnatural angle. "This place is under new management," announces Yvette. "I trust the new owner will have a better neck on their shoulders."

Shima recognizes most of the group--Yvette and Xyleena, Tulbas, Magnus, and Raena. He doesn't know Kendra personally, but he's heard of her--the Hero of Haven that defended the city during the elemental attack and executed the heretic cleric who caused it.

Tulbas quickly considers how to react to his name called out. If he ignores the goblin that would not slip under Magnus keen mind. Magnus would mentally note it and interrogate him later or even leverage it against himself. On the other hand if he would be too friendly with the goblin it might put the cleric in the spotlight. He looks at the goblin a bit surprised and thoughtful like trying to remember where he knows him from and eventually gives him a small nod as if he is trying not to embarrass the goblin with his lack of recognition.
He then follows Kendra, half step behind and at the side of Magnus as is proper for an apprentice, starting to consider his spells for the fight.

Grubnick continues to stare incredulously for a moment, then realizes what a tenuous spot he's in. Grimacing at the elf he turns away, moving back to a table.

[Yvette and Xylena would know how they know each other anyway, having been involved in the Belzorite job too.]

Shima doesn't change his balance, merely raises his water glass for an almost imperceptible sip.

Kendra leads the group of the the High Hand at this point as she knows that the people that are in the inn right now aren't going to do anything as it would be insane. Once out of the inn, she looks to Magus. "Where are we going?" she asks. What just happened isn't sitting well with her, but she is able to push it to the back of her mind for the moment.

Once they are outside, Magnus answers. "The sewers."

"The sewers are a mess," Raena points out. "They could be anywhere down there."

Magnus nods. "But I believe I know exactly where. Or close to it, at any rate."

The group leaves, and one of the waitresses goes into the kitchen. She screams.

Meanwhile, the lunch rush is beginning to arrive, having no idea what just occurred.

Shima goes to check what's the scream about.

Tulbas looks for opportunity to catch Kendra without the others listening by, especially Magnus. "This is a mess." With this short sentence he hopes Kendra will understand they are both on the same page trying to avoid innocents losing lives. "The dark looking dwarf who stared at us might be able to lead us in the sewers. I didn't go with him there but I think he spent long time there."

(OOC: Tulbas did hear along conversations with Gobax and before with the Minotaur and his fellow about their searches at the sewers as far as I remember. He considered to join but was occupied.)
