Ok. Instead of a crusader style priest, I'd like to go with a more world-weary character. Granted, he's someone who went to war and came back a different person. He's frankly disgusted by what his fellow man can resort to in the name of God, but at the same time he's found solace in being in the Holy Land itself. He now tries to live his life as a humble pilgrim, but certainly one who can kick ass in the defense of the weak. Nothing lethal, but certainly willing to bring a bit of righteous pain unto sinners! Maybe something of a religious Batman only less intense?

This group sounds like it'll be quite interesting. I'm getting ideas of how to introduce everyone into the setting, and how the chief NPCs will react to them. Really looking forward to it. IL, you should pick a list of things you'll ask God to grant you (cleric spells in game talk). Or is he not yet first level?

Religious Batman... Wait, does this mean he has secret files on all of us? Ah, the joys of comics.

Maybe more like that big computer that hacked all the cell phones in the The Dark Knight, only his computer is God. =P

I miss my old Corel Draw. I used to be good enough with it to draw sketches like that more quickly than I could do it by hand.

It seems far fetched that two men could have made their way all the way from the Holy Land to this little village, and could have arrived at the same time, without having bumped into each other somewhere along the road, so I shall assume that they are (at least) acquainted. We can get our stories straight once we get in touch, and if he objects, I'll ret-con my posts.

Are we concerned much about languages?

From the place names, I expect we are in Germany or nearby. John is English, and I took a proficiency in Latin, figuring he would likely speak that in addition to his native tongue.

I didn't bother with any proficiencys, Brelia told me not to bother.. I guess that includes languages.

I guess John would by now have picked up some Crusader's camp talk and the Common language of the area, especially since he has been travelling alone for a while. It will be enough to get him meals and accomodation, as well as some talk about where and when, but no refined discussions. To keep it short, he understands and speaks enough to get through the adventure safely. Play with it!

@ Stik: what you wrote for John reads a little too smooth for me to fit with our posts above... his vulgaris should be less refined than his Latin.

My suggestion for his Common would be something like this:
"I hoped my Latin be better than Common, because I am a stranger. But perhaps my Latin is not so good and my Common better."

I don't mean to be bossy, if you hadn't mentioned languages at all, I wouldn't have said a word. But I thought you might enjoy playing with language levels. If you find it too cumbersome, we can simply agree that by now John has learned Common, and drop the matter.
