Sim follow's as the rest of the party moves, taking his place in the middle. He casts continual light on his staff and prepares a "Web" spell under his breath and says a little prayer to baccob before he does so, asking that no wild surges threaten his spells.

[OOC] Time-warp time.
Martin's been carrying Drake's axe since before the funeral, and he has no intention of giving it up. It's not treasure to be claimed. It's a memento. [/OOC]
Martin will take the dagger from the treasure pile, intoning in his most sonorous voice. " 'Is this a dagger which I see before me?' " followed by a more normal one: " 'Um. Yeah. Yes it is. Quite a nice one, too.' "
"Loss-restitution is a kind of gambling. It's like... like if you owned a tavern, and you were afraid it will burn down, so you'd give the caveman some money every month, and if the bar burns down, you win, and he gives it back to you. And if it doesn't, he wins and he gets to keep it. Capisce?"
At Bjarg's mention of unclaimed treasure, Martin replies: "Take it slow there, Unibrow. Last year a man tried to grab my tip jar and he pulled back a bloody stump. And there was less coin in it than we have here."
As the crew sets off down the corridor, Martin says, to nobody in particular: "She's out there poling for traps with a four foot stick. Might work. We had a four foot dwarf-hedgehog-duck that was good at finding them."

Esse will walk slowly down the stairs, away from the torches (if they are being used).. and the rest of the party.
Stick is in her off hand (right) one climbing dagger in her sword hand (left) if anything does appear she'll jab the dagger between the walls and attempt to pull herself above the ground. he remaining climbing dagger is wedged in her belt.
As she walks down the stairs she'll scan the area with her infravison if see if there are any voids.
Once she gets to the bottom she'll wait for the others, keeping a reasonable distance to the She-Wolf!
[ooc]They should appear as a different colour, I expect the majority of the area to be "blue", where differences will appear green to Red.
She's an Elf in Non-metal armor, far enough away from the others so she is quiet, no need to roll move silently. I can if you wish (50% chance of success)
And she took the short sword if no-one stopped her, it can't be used yet anyway if I recall.[/ooc]
Edited to reflect somethings I missed, Ie the stairs are NOT trapped. lol

*The wolf's fur shines in the light from the torches; strands of silver, blue and black intermingled within its softness. Her amber eyes glow, but her intent is unrevealing.*
"Welcome my lovelies to the art gallery. Down each long side of this room, one will find murals depicting a particular scene of nature, but each contains a common factor. Starting from the stairway, along the northern wall, there is a river, rocky crag, cave and a flower pot; while the southern wall displays a garden, desert, jungle and a tree."
"Ah, but what is the common factor you are asking yourselves. Don't tax your brains my lovelies, for I will tell you now.....snakes; each mural is home to a snake, not one the same, but all with precious gems as eyes. Worth a pretty fortune...wouldn't you say m'dear?" *
Addressing this to Esse*
Mural - Gem
River - Amethyst
Rocky Crag - Malachite
Cave - Sapphire
Flower Pot - Emerald
Garden - Diamond
Desert - Peridot
Jungle - Ruby
Tree - Topaz
*As the torchlight illuminates the murals, the gems glitter with invite. However, one could almost swear that the snakes sway and ungulate, but of course it is just the trickery of the light.*
"So, enjoy the artwork, but if you happen to get bored, and feel rather claustrophobic, there are two doors located for your exit. One along the northern wall, between the crag and cave mural; the other at the far western wall. Of course, you could always turn tail and run back up the stairs." *With all that being said, the wolf silently starts to sink within the solid stone of the floor until she can be seen no more.*

[Idly pokes the river mural with his club] Bjarg's attention faded almost as soon as the wolf started droning on and on about art. It only piqued when she mentioned snakes. In all his travels, Bjarg has found that snakes are never good omens.

Esse mumbles something about damn snakes. Stops and considers the problem.
"Plan, we need a plan, snakes.. Gems.. Did anyone pick up the colour? Loincloth stop poking that! You don't know where its been!"

*The snake, a black snake, comes alive and begins twisting its way down Bjarg's club. It is almost to his hands when it stops moving, begins to stiffen and suddenly crumples into a black dust. Sitting within the dust are two, 1" round, Amethyst stones.*

Sim watches in fasination and some dread as the snake winds it's way down the club. Once it crumples to dust Sim lets out a chearfull "AHA!"
"Of course! The magic here must be old. Very old indeed. My guess is, it has begun to wear away. Take heart lads! It is likely the magic here won't kill us!"
As if to prove his point Sim steps past the others and walks to the center of the room where his light can cast away most of the darkness. There he stands, smug in his knowledge of magic lore.

Bjarg cautiously stoops to pick up the amethyst, pocketing them in his belt pouch. "First time snake eyes has been worth anything...." he mutters mostly to himself.

The friendly cleric picks up the rest of the loot that gets left behind. He does not take the weapons, though. Following along, remains quiet thinking about the area as they descend. The hallway is rather interesting. He points out the images of the snake. "I wonder if this opens up another room or just represents a ward system. We might be able to skip it by not touching the pictures."

"Do you folks know about narrativium?" Looking at the blank looks on the others, Martin continues. "The world, my friends, is a story we tell ourselves. Narrativium is the stuff that makes sure the world makes sense.
"Now, given the fact that Talks-To-Cat-Food has just foolishly said: 'It is likely the magic here won't kill us,' despite the fact that we have been shows that one of these murals is harmless, there are a very few ways the next few minutes can go.
"Way to go, Talks-To-Cat-Food."

"hmmmm" repeats Esse, "The pessimist in me thinks that nothing good can come out of this..."
Prodding the Garden scene one more time she steps back, checking around her.

Bjorg looks at the Cleric, a confused look on his face. "Does the fool always spout nonsense?" Again, Bjorg pokes at a mural with his club. This time, the garden image.
