Re: CH 10: The Tharkadan Towers
Riverwind's opponent hisses angrily at the plainsman and strikes, getting another small cut in. The ranger counters by smacking the kapak in the head with the flat of his blade hard, and the draconian collapses to the ground, his long tongue lolling out of his mouth.
Sturm steps back and then completely circles the battle, until he comes around the other side. He smacks one of the kapaks with the flat of his blade, dropping him like a fly. Unfortunately, said kapak was still standing in the acid of his departed brother. Said acid slays the fallen kapak, creating an even bigger pool of acid that washes over Laurana, Sturm and the final draconian. Only Magpie is fast enough to get away in time to avoid more damage.
The final kapak stabs Laurana, nearly slaying her. However, the elf maiden just barely manages to hold on and even manages to swing a punch at her opponent, striking him in the snout. The draconian steps out of the acid while Laurana flees through the door, leaving Riverwind's bow behind.
Goldmoon steps out of the acid and casts a minor spell of healing on Tasslehoff. Then completely undoes the acid burns he just suffered, but isn't enough to heal him entirely.
Caramon hears everyone shouting from within the room, and hopes none of the enemy hears them. He realizes, though, that the kender is right. He had been a fool to listen to Sturm. But he would not do so any further. Drawing his sword and shield, he rushes into the room just as Laurana limps out. The big warrior skids to a halt when he sees the acid. "Oh, you gotta be kiddin' me!" he complains. Quickly, he moves around the sizzling liquid and attacks the last remaining kapak, smacking him hard with the flat of his blade.
Tasslehoff, after thanking and praising Goldmoon for the healing, backs himself as far into the corner as he can and then launches a rock from his hoopak at the final draconian standing. The rock hits and wounds, but luckily does not kill the draconian, or else things would have gone from worse to even more worse.

Re: CH 10: The Tharkadan Towers
Cursing loudly, Laurana collapses against a wall, barely able to stand.
"Me make it better, me have cure." The Gully dwarf slips down by Laurana, "You hurt, bosses go splat."

Re: CH 10: The Tharkadan Towers
Riverwind leaves his foe behind, walks north,to the table to inspect it for use to block the door behind them. He assumes that the Foe will surrender to the 'correct' version of the truth.
He continues, to stop out of range of any acid splash.
"Just drop it." he says.

"Me Heal, you help." Magpie says to the Cleric, the little Gully Dwarf is in obvious pain, but doesnt say anything.
"Thank you Goldmoon." Laurana pants, "Those things are everywhere, how can you fight those that can even kill in death?"

Re: CH 10: The Tharkadan Towers
The kapak strikes at Caramon, but the big warrior easily deflects the blow with his shield. Sturm, the acid still burning his feet, demands surrender from the dragonman. Looking around, the creature realizes he is outnumbered and alone, not to mention badly wounded. With a hiss of anger, he tosses his blade down to the ground with a clatter.
While Goldmoon tends to Laurana's wounds, healing all of her recent stab wounds, Gilthanas approaches her. In answer to her question, he says evenly, "You don't. It was foolish to engage them in the first place. They were no immediate threat. And then to compound matters, you sent in your least skilled warriors first." He shakes his head. "A wise warriors knows when not to fight. A warrior who seeks out fights, seeks out her own death. Have you forgotten why we are here? We are supposed to be looking for the human slaves that Verminaard has captured, so we can create an uprising and distract his troops while our people evacuate. We need to finish up here and get out of the open, before a patrol happens by and we are discovered."

Re: CH 10: The Tharkadan Towers
Goldmoon had opened her mouth to reply angrily to Gilthanas, pointing out she was in no way the leader of the group, but stopped herself because she saw the truth in his words. "Well, next time, why don't you tell us these things before we make the mistake?" she asks him. Then she turns to Magpie and does her best to dress the dwarve's wounds in the conventional way. "I am sorry I cannot use Mishakal's help to get you out of pain" she tells her. "But I want to keep that power to be able to rescue someone from death".

Re: CH 10: The Tharkadan Towers
"Typical Elven manners, they never say thank you. And, they never bother to tell you anything until it is too late." Tas looks at Laurana. "Thankfully, you are not typical. That means you're useful during a battle. The other elves just whine about other folks after they let them do the work." Turning to Gilthanas, Tas calmly remarks. "You folks really should learn how to be civilized like Flint's Not Cousins. They are much more helpful." Then, he sighs dramatically and rolls his eyes.

Re: CH 10: The Tharkadan Towers
Goldmoon does her best to bandage Magpie's wounds so they don't become infected.
Gilthanas merely shakes his head at the plainswoman. "I did not realize I'd need to advise you all on matters of common sense."
Meanwhile, inside the room, Caramon says, "Two more prisoners? Guess we should take 'em downstairs with the others."
=======
Goldmoon makes a healing check on Magpie (1d20): 19, fail. Magpie does not recover any HP.
(OOC: Actually, Laurana is the leader of the group. You may recall that after Tanis was taken, Sturm declared himself leader. Then a few days later (real time, not game time), he inexplicably handed the reins over to Laurana. Nobody spoke out or objected about either. It was also Laurana's idea to go to the armory and to look into the reception room. That's why Gilthanas directed his speech toward her specifically.)

Re: CH 10: The Tharkadan Towers
Riverwind hears the comments from the the elf prince and decides to comment. More for himself and Goldmoon's sake than any thought that he might change Gilthanas' view of things. "We are here, against all common sense, to rescue your sorry ass, along with some other tasks and you really have the balls to bitch about it?JadedDM wrote:Gilthanas merely shakes his head at the plainswoman. Re: CH 10: The Tharkadan Towers
"Then I am doing exactly what you expect aren't I Brother." Laurana gives a very unladylike sneer. "Take them downstairs and leave them with the others.."
Turning to the others she continues, ignoring her Brother this time. "Shall we move onto the Armory when the prisoners are moved?"
Moving back into the room she checks for Riverwinds Bow.
