CH 4: Heart of Darkness

[Nuke]

Val drops her bow yelling "Grab that." before grabbing her trident and moving into melee range.

She tries to find an opening between the zombies, but hey, if she misses, at least they are already dead she thinks to herself.

Jocelyn lets out a sigh, and moves towards Areilon to heal her.

Ouragana continues to hold Maua's mouth shut, and looks around to see if anyone else has been alerted.

Looking around, Ouragana does not see anyone else nearby.

Grey moves forward and with a lightning quick stab, cuts into the female with his dagger. "What the Nine Hells is wrong with these people? They always fight to the death, even when outnumbered!"

Areilon steps back, severely wounded. She holds up her sword in a defensive posture while Jocelyn comes up behind her and gives her a light tap on the back. Instantly, the majority of Areilon's wounds heal up.

The male drops his bow as the first zombie approaches, and he readies his spear and shield. He stabs the zombie right in the eye, dropping it to the ground with ease. Val, who wondered if she might hit a zombie by mistake, now has a clear window to attack. She strikes at the male, tearing into his flank with the sharp points of her trident.

"Hey, stop destroying my zombies!" Dalaim protests, swinging his staff at the woman. He smacks her in the thigh, hard enough to leave a bruise. She counters by stabbing through his leather armor, drawing some blood from his shoulder. The old dwarf hisses in pain. Oren steps in and swings his axe at her, but she throws up her shield just in time, stopping the blow. She then manages to fend off both of the female zombies with ease, before plunging her spear into the second zombie's eye socket, killing it once again.

"Damn it, do you know how much effort it takes to make one of those things?" Dalaim complains.

Ouragana keeps Maua muffled and looks around for more tribals.
Maua remains muffled.
Grey moves 10 feet north and stabs his dagger at Tribal Female (1d20): 16, hit for (1d4): 4 damage.
Areilon moves south ten feet and goes into full defense. Her AC improves by 1.
Jocelyn casts Cure Light Wounds on Areilon, restoring (1d8): 5 HP.
Tribal Male drops his bow and readies his spear and shield. He attacks Zombie 01 with his one-handed stone spear (+1) (1d20+1): 15, hit for (1d4+2): 6 damage. Zombie 01 is destroyed.
Dalaim attacks Tribal Female with his quarterstaff (1d20): 14, hit for (1d6): 2 damage.
Val drops her bow and moves 15 feet northwest and attacks Tribal Male (+1) with her trident (+1) (1d20+2): 16, hit for (1d6+3): 5 damage.
Tribal Female attacks Dalaim with her one-handed stone spear (+1) while he is wearing leather armor (+2) (1d20+3): 22 for (1d4+2): 3 damage.
Oren attacks Tribal Female with his battle axe (+1) (1d20+1): 12, blocked by shield.
Zombie 01 is destroyed.
Zombie 02 punches at Tribal Female with his fist (1d20): 7, miss.
Zombie 03 punches at Tribal Female with her fist (1d20): 7, miss.
Tribal Female attacks Zombie 02 with her one-handed stone spear (1d20+1): 21, critical hit! for (2d4+2): 7 damage. Zombie 02 is destroyed.

(OOC: For future reference, Nuke, the trident does 1d6+1 damage against S and M creatures, and then another +2 for her specialization; so 1d6+3 total, not 1d8+1. I adjusted the dice and you did more damage as a result. Actions and Initiative for Round 3?)

"Thank you." She says to The Cleric. Head bowed, panting she stays back, keeping in defense she guards the others.

[Nuke]

Damn, they are dropping like flies, Val thinks. Taking over lead target of the tribal, Val continues to press the attack.

Conversation is useless, and the foe is respectable, there is no choice, she fights to kill.

Pausing briefly, she tries to determine a foe for her next attack.

"You're fine now," Jocelyn says to the elf. "And we are fine back here. They have no interest in us," she points out. In most of the fights thus far, Ouragana and herself have been ignored.

"Very well." Moving to the back she slips round the back of the building, intending to come around from behind, she sticks to the wall, moving cautiously.

Ouragana continues to muffle Maua and watch out for more enemies, there was little else she could do.

Ouragana keeps her hand over Maua's mouth, but does not see anyone else approaching. While Jocelyn stands there and watches, Areilon starts to slowly move around the entire building.

Meanwhile, Grey stabs the female tribal while she and Dalaim exchange blows with their spear and staff, respectively. The gnome grins when his blade makes contact, but that victory is short-lived as the male tribal stabs him in the shoulder with his own spear. The gnome staggers, and nearly drops to his knees. There's no way he can take another blow like that again.

Oren, meanwhile, consumed by blood-lust, swings his axe and takes the woman's head off cleanly. It rolls across the ground before coming to a standstill, and her body, spurting blood like a fountain, drops to the ground like a helpless rag doll.

Despite this, the male fights on. Val stabs him with her trident and the last zombie takes a swing at him. He avoids the undead's blow, and tries to finish off Grey. The gnome manages to dance aside, still grasping his wounded shoulder. This leaves the tribal vulnerable, and Val takes advantage. She stabs the man again, in the chest, and he falls to the ground, unmoving.

Val continues the action, she bends down to drag the tribal around the corner. "Quickly, behind the corner!" She coughs in a hoarse whisper. She works to get all of the bodies, zombies included, out of sight of the doorway.

Jocelyn looks at Ouragana. "Perhaps we should be the ones to lead," she suggests. "They will attack everyone else on sight, but they haven't touched us."

[Breila]

Ouragana looks at the cleric. "Jocelyn, I have no fight training at all. I have few chances to hit anyone, and any swing they take at me could be deadly. I do not intend to become a martyr for a cause I don't beleive in. My opinion is stated, I believe we should retreat with Maua and learn to communicate with her. We then hopefully can explain to people that we want to explore the ruins only, and do this without fighting everybody who sees us."

Arei continues her trek around the building.

Val grabs the bleeding form of her opponent and drags him around the corner. Oren grabs the corpse of the female and does the same. Dalaim orders his last zombie to grab the corpse of his former companion, then grabs another fallen zombie, as well.

Grey, however, still cradling his shoulder, staggers backwards, too weak to do much at this point.

Areilon, meanwhile, continues around the building, unaware the battle is already over. She comes up the other side, just five feet outside the entrance.
