Re: CH. 13: Consequences
"She might not have mentioned it because it wasn't money that she had which was stolen, it was money she should have earned. You might have recalled her going with me on a job a few weeks back where she didn't earn any money. She was supposed to, like all of us, but we received our payment while still in a dangerous location. Shortly after acquiring said money we were beset on by the cultists that we were hired to oust, and these two women gathered up all the money we were promised and left with it while the rest of us were caught up in battle. The money that we were paid should have been divided evenly between us, Ismene, myself, those two and a few others, but these two women took it all for themselves. Thus, they stole from us. The sum of money they stole, although we hadn't time to properly count it, was considerable, likely over a hundred steel per person."
"As for the confrontation today, I'm afraid I don't know much more about it then you do. I have just been informed of it just now, and I don't think we have many details amongst the three of us. I plan to scout the location and come up with a better plan, but time is short and it's easier to have more people then I need available and leave some without work, then it is to find trustworthy help on short notice."
"If you have somewhere else to be today with great urgency, then I don't have much I can offer you besides hope. If you come along, you would not be obliged to take part in any plan that you deem fool-hearty or don't approve of. I will do my best to help us all, for my best is all I can do. I am here offering you an opportunity to do a good honest job with a possibility of a fair payout. I do not expect it to be easy."

Re: CH. 13: Consequences
Kendra runs off to the second snake in her line of sight (#2), and tries to cut that one down.

Haahqae, Arulia and Gobax (Masked Dragon Inn, Common Room)
"You say time is short," Miriam comments. "Just how much time do we have then? That aside, I am willing to help. But as I am currently being watched...you and your friends should be aware they might wind up on the prefect's watch list as well, if you are seen working with me."
"I suppose I'm willing to help for now, at least until I get a better picture of what it is you are planning," Jaymes says. "Am I right in assuming that our payment will be a share of the coin you say was stolen? Does that mean the rest of you are giving up a portion of your shares to pay us?"
(OOC: "The sum of money...was likely over a hundred steel per person." Wow, does Haahqae really think it was that much? No wonder you guys are so hellbent on getting it back. )
 )
Kendra Greylock (Marketsquare)
As Kendra moves toward one of the snakes, another one bites at her as she passes it by. Luckily, it misses and she manages to slay her target, causing it to vanish into thin air. The other two snakes start slithering toward her. One gets close enough to attack, and bites her ankle. Its fangs pierce her armor, reaching her skin. It's not a serious wound, by any means, but Kendra finds her entire body freeze up. Unable to move, she watches as the remaining snakes start moving toward her, keen to finish off their prey.
==========
Initiative
Kendra (1d10+5): 1+5 = 6
Fire Snake 02 (1d10+3): 10+3 = 13
Fire Snake 03 (1d10+3): 8+3 = 11
Fire Snake 04 (1d10+3): 7+3 = 10
Fire Snake 05 (1d10+3): 3+3 = 6
Round 2!
Fire Snake 05 bites at Kendra in studded leather (-1 hit) as she moves past it [TN 15] (1d20-1): 5-1 = 4, miss.
Kendra moves 30 feet west, then swings her elven blade (+2 hit/dmg) with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) and strength (+1 dmg) at Fire Snake 2 [TN 10] (1d20+3): 4+3 = 7, miss. She then swings her masterwork long sword (+1 hit/dmg) with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) and strength (+1 dmg) at Fire Snake 02 [TN 10] (1d20+2): 11+2 = 13, hit for (1d8+3): 5+3 = 8 damage. Fire Snake 02 vanishes.
Fire Snake 04 slithers 20 feet north and then bites at Kendra in studded leather (-1 hit) [TN 15] (1d20-1): 16-1 = 15, hit for (1d3): 2 damage. Kendra saves vs poison [TN 11] (1d20): 9, fail. Kendra becomes paralyzed (2d4): 3,2 = 5 turns.
Fire Snake 03 slithers 20 feet north.
Fire Snake 02 is banished.

Re: CH. 13: Consequences
Kendra tried to move as the snakes slithered towards her. She suddenly couldn't help but think that maybe this was finally the end for her. Was she really going to die by a bunch of snakes? This was her ending?

Tulbas looks at Jinali, "I can try and drag her to the storage rooms. She should be fine there. But I'm not sure if it won't wake her up." Tulbas says and considers his options.
====================================================================
(OOC: From Tulbas knowledge, can he hide Jinali somewhere while still sleeping? Even if he is not strong enough to carry her?

I think Tulbas was the first to discover the chest in the storage room and he was told there are ~600 steel coins. No?JadedDM wrote:(OOC: "The sum of money...was likely over a hundred steel per person." Wow, does Haahqae really think it was that much? No wonder you guys are so hellbent on getting it back.)

Kendra Greylock (Marketsquare)
Kendra hears a whistling sound from above. She isn't able to look up, but a moment later, an arrow falls from the sky and pierces one of the snakes to the ground. A second arrow does likewise to another snake. From her vantage point, she sees a lone figure on a rooftop to the south, wearing a heavy cloak and cowl. The figure puts away their bow, then runs off, hopping from roof to roof before anyone can give chase.
By now the chaos has calmed down enough that the soldiers have stepped in and slain the last snake. A couple grab Kendra, lifting her up. "Get her back to the mansion, prefect's orders!" says one.
"What about the attackers?"
"Don't worry, we got people chasing after them. They won't get far."
Whether it's the snake venom or something else, Kendra blacks out shortly after this. When she comes to, she's laying in a bed in a very nice looking room. Her armor has been removed and set aside with her weapons and gear. She finds she can move, although she feels sluggish. It's not clear how long she was out, but there is still daylight coming in from the window.
Tulbas Erogund (Tower of Wayreth, Unknown Floor on AT 15)
"Let's just hope she doesn't come after us when she does wake up," Selowen says with a nod.
(OOC: If you're asking if Tulbas can move Jinali without waking her, then yes. You need to slap her or actually cause damage to break the spell before the duration ends.)

Kendra sits up in the bed she was placed in, and rubs at her face before she looks around. ~I don't think I have ever been in such a nice room,~ she thinks to herself.

						Re: CH. 13: Consequences
Haahqae takes each question in turn.
“I have only heard that it was tonight, in an abandoned warehouse near the docks. Arulia over there might know more she hasn’t divulged to me yet. And really Myriam, if you go around warning off all your potential employers how do you expect to earn your way through the winter? I know you to be an honest and trustworthy companion, and I’m not frightened because I happen to be talking to the roommate of someone who didn’t commit a crime.”
“As for your question Jaymes, I really don’t know. The theft happened weeks ago and since then at least one of our group has died with no known family or relatives to compensate, so his portion of the treasure can be divided amongst you. I’m also willing to part with some of my own share of the treasure, however it’s been a long time for the thieves to just sit around and hold onto everything they’ve stolen. We might find that they’ve gambled it all away or something, however if it is not possible to retrieve the stolen goods, I hope to find some other way the thieves can pay us all our due.”

"Tonight, you say?" asks Miriam. "I assume it is before curfew then. And I am not trying to warn off anyone. I just thought your friends would want to know. Besides, you even said it yourself. Ismene committed no crime and was still arrested. So if the army decides to arrest you for speaking to me, your innocence of any crime isn't going to protect you."
Jaymes frowns a bit. "So you're saying it's possible we might not get paid at all?"
Kendra Greylock (Prefect's Mansion)
The door opens and Tethys steps inside. "Ah, you are awake. Good. I see the poison has run its course then. How are you feeling?" he asks, approaching the bed, then sitting on the end.

"Confused?" Kendra says. "I remember fighting those snakes, and then I couldn't move. Are the people that were bitten okay?" she asks. "What happened after I blacked out?" she asks, looking up to Tethys.

Re: CH. 13: Consequences
Haahqae really isn’t in the right frame of mind to take more criticism, and these two are laying it on him when he’s least expecting it.  He starts with a defensive response, trying to explain his position;
“With all those dragons flying around, if the army decides to arrest me I’m not sure if there’s any power in Krynn strong enough to protect me. But that won’t stop me from trying to have us all survive until spring. I’m just one little guy and I’m dealing with a lot of problems lately. I’m doing my best here. I don’t have some magical, divine way fix everything so…”
And nearly descends into tears again before he’s done explaining.

Am I just one little guy? I hope not, but why do I feel so small? Was Fistandantilus ever just a little boy? Was Paladine?
“I’m doing my best here.”

Haahqae, Arulia and Gobax (Masked Dragon Inn, Common Room)
The two exchange looks as Haahqae nearly comes to tears. "Uh, perhaps we should speak to your friends then, to answer our questions," Miriam suggests.
I don't know who those people are, Miracle admits, mistakenly thinking Haahqae was addressing her just now.
Kendra Greylock (Prefect's Mansion)
"I'm afraid there were some casualties," Tethys answers. "Not any soldiers this time, though. Some mercenaries managed to track down the one behind the attacks and bring him in. As suspected, he was a cleric. The priests at the temple are interrogating him now. Hopefully his arrest will lead to the capture of the rest of the rebels. Then at last, we'll have some peace in this city. Still, I'm glad you came out relatively unharmed. The plan seemed to work fairly well, hiccups aside."
Ne-Chanz and Shima (Central Haven Sewers)
The battle continues. Shima keeps his shield up to protect himself from the squeaking onslaught, and even manages to kill one of them. Ne-Chanz manages to slay two more with his own sword. There are still a few more left, however.
=================
Initiative
Ne-Chanz (1d10+3): 2+3 = 5
Shima (1d10+5): 10+5 = 15
Giant Rat 02 (1d10+3): 1+3 = 4
Round 3!
Giant Rat 02 bites at Shima who is using a masterwork shield (-2 hit) [TN 15] (1d20-2): 15-2 = 13, miss.
Ne-Chanz swings his long sword with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) and strength (+1 dmg) at Giant Rat 02 [TN 10] (1d20+1): 16+1 = 17, hit for (1d8+3): 6+3 = 9 damage. Giant Rat 02 dies.
Giant Rat 04 advances and bites at Shima who is using a masterwork shield (-2 hit) [TN 15] (1d20-2): 14-2 = 12, miss.
Shima swings his long sword at Giant Rat 04 [TN 11] (1d20): 17, hit for (1d8): 6 damage. Giant Rat 04 dies.
Giant Rat 01 advances and bites at Shima who is using a masterwork shield (-2 hit) [TN 15] (1d20-2): 14-2 = 12, miss.
Ne-Chanz swings his long sword again with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) and strength (+1 dmg) at Giant Rat 01 [TN 10] (1d20+1): 19+1 = 20, hit for (1d8+3): 7+3 = 10 damage. Giant Rat 01 dies.
Giant Rat 05 advances and bites at Shima who is using a masterwork shield (-2 hit) [TN 15] (1d20-2): 13-2 = 11, miss.

The two wait patiently for some sign from the gnome. After a time the mood of the discussion seems to turn and he begins to wonder if Haahque isn't about to bresk down. Considering everything the gnome had been through lately, the goblin glances at Arulia and goes to join the group. Hey. Everything ok here? He asks, making sure Haahque isn't going to break into tears. I suppose he explained the situation to you, yes?
