Ignoring his dropped long sword, Baeros continues to fight with his short sword. However, neither he nor his loyal hound can break through the creature's otherworldly hide. Jocelyn tries her best to defend herself, but it's futile. Nothing short of the power of Octhanus will stop this creature from slicing her to shreds.

Well, divine intervention or a very pissed off half-orc. Val had been stunned twice now by these godsforsaken creatures. And her masterwork trident can barely scratch them up. How much gold had she spent on this weapon? And it was as useless as a toothpick against this damned frog thing.

Her anger fueling her, Val backs up a bit then runs and leaps at the beast, throwing her own weight and the force of gravity into her next strike. The trident's prongs all stab through the monster's hide and keep going. The monster is thrown to the ground, pinned by the orc's weapon. It shrieks in hideous pain, before its entire body vanishes in a flash of smoke and light.

Ouragana moves 50 feet south to join Jocelyn.
Val attacks Monster 03 with her masterwork (+1) trident with great skill (+1) (1d20+2): 22, critical hit! for (6d4+3): 23 damage. Monster 03 vanishes into thin air.

Monster 03 has been banished from this plane of existence.

What are the odds of rolling two 20s in a row? One in four hundred? I guess someone was due a lucky streak after several rounds of everyone missing.)

Jocelyn starts praying to Octhanus now that the creature is gone, to heal herself up at best as she can. "Baeros, check on your dog. I don't know what that creature did to him," she says. She rushes over to where Areilon is, and uses one of her cure spells (light) to bring her back to the world. "Is everyone else, okay?" she asks.

Ouragana watches in disbelief as Jocelyn completely ignores her. "I don't even know why I stick with these people" she mutters.

Following Ouragana's advice, Jocelyn casts a healing spell on herself. Two of the claw wounds on her chest heal up, but strangely she finds that they are rather...itchy.

She moves back up to where Andar and Areilon are and lays hands upon the elf, using a minor cure spell to bring her back to consciousness.

=============

Jocelyn casts Cure Moderate Wounds on herself, restoring (1d10+1): 6 HP.
Jocelyn casts Cure Light Wounds on Areilon, automatically reviving her at 1 HP. Areilon is now suffering from severe fatigue.

"Are you now ready to retreat? Ouragana asks Jocelyn, with more than a hint of sarcasm.

Val agrees. "Let's get the wounded back to the ship."

"If we didn't take care of those things, they would have hurt more people," Jocelyn points out to Ouragana. "But, yes, we need to get the wounded back to the ship," she says as she walks over to Andar to help him up.

Helping their wounded back to their feet, the party starts to backtrack the way they came to reach the Seleya. They return to the spot where they found the citizens fighting each other. There is no sign of them; even the dead are missing. Whether the citizens escaped that last frog creature or not is unclear.

"I'm not entirely sure, but I've been taught in the Academy that there are other planes of existence and sometimes beings can com into our world from there" Ouragana answers. "Their coming and going was described just like what we've seen here."

"Aye, but they didn't trip and stumble into our world by accident. The damned League summoned them here," Brock says. "And apparently they can call more of their kind here, too. It's like a damned infestation."

"Are you completely sure the League had anything to do with this?" Jocelyn asks. "I mean, it could be just some sadistic person taking advantage of the situation here between the people and the League."

"To what end, though?" asks Brock.

Meanwhile, Jocelyn and Baeros find that their fresh wounds are quite itchy. Takit, too, keeps scratching at his wound.
