The pair look at each other, then at Nix and smile to each other before letting the ratchet slip apace.
For any listening there is the briefest of wagers as to whether either of the passengers lose their breakfast or, at better odds, whether they become ex-passengers and start to 'fly' down the shaft..
The bucket hurtles down the shaft, ratchet a-clicking, and disappears into the darkness below. It thumps to a stop, then swinging from side to side, before continuing downward on it's previously more leisurely pace.
======
Please will bucket passengers make their choice of either:
- STR saving throw or
DEX saving throw which is at disadvantage.
If Nix fails DC5 then Eldritch Blast is at disadvantage. DC15 gives advantage. DC20 gives an automatic hit and damage can be re-rolled..

Evenwood [1d20] = 3 strength
When Evenwood is capable of exiting the bucket safely he will do so. Before exiting he will see what is going on.

[OOC: I'll take str ince disadvantage basically cuts your odds in half :/ [/ooc]
Prepared for the drop, Nix holds to the rope easily. as the bucket jerks to a stop, he fires a bolt of crackling energy at anything attacking Alicia or Sue.
===
Nix str save [1d20] = 10
Nix eldritch blast, dmg [1d20] = 7,[1d10] = 4

Nix braces himself, one hand on the rope, and manages to fire off an Eldridge Blast into the depths below. Evenwood is taken by surprise and loses his grip on the bucket and tries to recover his balance.
***
Meanwhile Sue sees several horrid creatures fly in. They are each the size of a house cat and and look like a cross between a big bat and an enormous mosquito. They sound angry. Or maybe just hungry. Alecia reflexively aims her crossbow at the closest creature, letting a bolt fly, as she calls out, "Creatures coming; watch yourself!" The missile takes the bizarre creature in the body whereupon it explodes into a puff of leather, feather, membrane and gore. Three flying foes remain.
The acolyte, surprisingly brave, steps back to back with Sue, hurriedly reloading her light crossbow as the Watchman takes a ‘ready’ stance. He thrusts out with his shield driving one of the flying nightmares high and wide as it seeks Alecia's succulent flesh. The impressively speedy girl ducks and shoots the approaching creature through the face and body, the whole exploding into a puff of shredded leather and gore. Sue lines up a shot as the two remaining foes sweep in for the attack. He puts the frustrations of the last couple days out on the closest flying thing, "RAARGH!" The watchman’s longsword takes the creature in the side of the head and the mighty blow cuts it diagonally in twain.
Before Alecia can switch to her mace the remaining flier aims its rapier-like proboscis at Sue’s eyes and, “Thwwap!” A bolt of energy, seemingly from nowhere, envelopes the creature and sublimates it into component vapours leaving no trace other than an acrid odour. Sue bleeds from a slight cheek wound.
{END OF COMBAT}

Sue wipes his cheek with his sleeve.
"Remind me to not get on your bad side." he will say to Alecia as the others are being lowered down.
He will watch it teeter and totter, and if he can reach it will help steady it once with-in his reach.
"Maybe we just pull on the bucket rope this time."

"Bad side?" Alecia asks with a sheepish look before averting her gaze, "I was just lucky, what on Oerth were those things anyway?" She asks turning back to assist with the bucket lowering.
"Thank you Nix." Giving the man a quick hug she sighs, so thats what he meant..? she ponders silently, moving to recover her crossbow bolts if they are intact.

One bolt can be readily cleaned up. The other is destroyed.

"Those would have been Stirges. Nasty little suckers... Sue will chuckle into a cough when he realizes noone is in on the joke.
"If they get their teeth on you, they will latch on and leech off some blood."

"I'd rather not meet any of those again, not that we have any real choice in that matter." The Priestess responds placing the usable bolt in her case.

Nix gives her a tight hug, looking her over briefly. You sure you're alright? Not hurt or anything?

"I'm ok I think.. those?" She turns to Sue. "Stirges, were not my ideal partners to meet in the dark, not my ideal at all." Pulling him close she checks the dagger is still in place, "I should record this room." And with that she extracts herself from his arms and begins to pace the room.
She sketches the room and surveys the shields with interest, are they all fixed?
