Indeed. I've always had a soft spot for the little maniacs :D

Me too, I have played a few in my time, including one who was a Cleric of Paladine!

A three hour set will be acceptable. She doesn't want to dissapoint Guilliam.

Lol this is going to be fun!

Usually it's my fighter cleric who gets impatient of the rogue disarming traps and finds them for everyone.

Thank goodness Elsa likes me so far.

Yeah, and once the bard dies, we'll adopt you.

I know you are obviously joking, but I actually take offence, considering right now I am your only spell caster and all.

We had a real wizard in there somewhere, if he shows up. What can a bard cast in AD&D at level 4? I think it's nothing. Not to minify your bard's usefulness to the party in other ways, of course, if you just pick up a sense of humor. That's a must-have for a performer.

Bards are actually only about 1 lvl or so behind normal arcane casters magic-wise. She has lvl 2 spell slots, which is all a mage would have at lvl 4, or 3 since they wouldn't be that high lvl at 5k xp

The big differences start to show around lvl 7 when they get lvl 3 spells, but mages have them at lvl 5. From then on the progression is markedly slower and the max slots are lower. Unlike 3e, in 2e they can cast any arcane magic they understand.

You are right. I've forgotten the system in AD&D. My apologies to Jenara. I'm sure she'll be fearsome.

Well she has already survived a combat sequence where she faced over twice her HD in combat alone; which is more than even the horse-sized dire wolves that attacked Pyros and Elsa. But let's refrain from talking about other characters dying as a foregone conclusion, or remarks about the 'survivability' of a class in general just for game-harmony.

After all we are in Harmonia!

I'm not looking to offend anyone, long live the bard. But let's be realistic, that class isn't supposed to be a combat machine. The classes all have different strengths, so if a rouge survives a tough fight, it's just luck. My paladin is yet to be tested, but I didn't roll him up with exceptional stats, because he's not exceptional. If he can't live through a fight, though, it will be because he isn't good enough a fighter, not because of especial misfortune. See my point? Each to his own. So I feel quite at ease poking a little fun at people who forget the sobering facts. :P It goes both ways, of course. The alternative would be for us all to seal our lips and weigh every word before it's spoken, just in case someone might for some reason get peeved. And that leads to bad constipation.

There is a lot of Frenchness around here, well, Montaigne wrote "I don't make friends easily, because I hate it when I have to measure up every word and keep on my toes lest I offend someone. I don't have the patience for the easily offended."

Since the bard had no prior interaction or reference with you, I don't see how ths applies.

The bottom line is that we are all supposed to be adults. If someone is offended, it should be addressed and end there. If we can't be respectful of each other avoid goading comments, the game can't progress peacefully. I have neither the energy nor desire to have to adjucate that kind of behavior. If we can continue respectfully, then let us. If not, so be it. I don't advocate placing the blame of offense on the offended.
