Re: Chapter 2 - Getting to the bottom of it?
If Sue rests while holding and concentrating on the weapon he can gain a feel for it.

As we said, let`s rest. If required Woody can cast identify unless Sue rest with the weapon.
Re: Chapter 2 - Getting to the bottom of it?
Sue will not rest with the weapon. The last cursed weapon put him off just grabbing onto them.

I did my hit dice roll for Jim. As far as I am aware we were resting. Jim mentioned the warhammer to Sue while he was eating the mushrooms during the short rest

Woody will cast identify and alarm 5 times instead of 6 for the hour.
Re: Chapter 2 - Getting to the bottom of it?
After a brief debate on the warhammer Sue opts to spend his rest practising with the item.
Both Sue and Jim feel better for for break.
Woody spends the time casting half a dozen Abjuration spells.
What next?
======
Sue thinks the warhammer is enchanted. [+1 to hit & damage]

We will continue down the tunnel in the direction we were going. Woody pulls out the magical directional stone.
Re: Chapter 2 - Getting to the bottom of it?
What marching order along the three foor wide walkway?
Re: Chapter 2 - Getting to the bottom of it?
Jim out front, Woody 40ft behind, Sue close behind Woody.

Woody will cast light on one of Jim`s coins. "Jim, here is a light source for you."
Re: Chapter 2 - Getting to the bottom of it?
Woody's stone indicates the tunnel is heading roughtly north; (actually NNE).
Jim leads the group a hundred feet or so onwards to where it angles off slightly to the right; (north-east according to Woody).
After another hundred feet or so the group reach a stone chamber, some 30 foot by 30 foot, with other tunnels to the north-west, north-east and south-east.
The three foot wide walkway leads to the right, anticlockwise, into the southern side of the twenty foot wide tunnel to the south-east. Another three foot wide walkway can be seen in the northern side of the same tunnel. There is no obvious connection between the two walkways although the northern one terminates in the chamber at a set of iron rungs leading upwards.
The iron rung ladder leads up fifteen foot to another ledge which is five foot below the chamber's arched ceiling. The high walk way continues anticlockwise to a twelve foot wide tunnel that heads north-east with the walkway heading off along the east side of the sewage flow that emptyies into the chamber below. The stench is overwhleming. [CON saving throw, please]
The high walkway in the chamber continues anticlockwise from the north-east tunnel to a wider, twenty foot wide tunnel to the north-west. There is no apparent connection between the chamber's high ledges on each side of the north-east tunnel.
A pair of unconnected three foot wide walkways lead off into the north-west tunnel, the two separated by a forteen foot wide sewage flow that cascades down into the chamber.
Jim catches a glimpse of somthing poking up through the sewage, possibly an eyestalk or antenna, before it disappears into the muck.
What next?
====== Key: 5' squares; Grey = lower level walkways; Tan = upper level walkways; Black = solid wall; Blue = sewer liquids (flow is from NW & NE); Two linked dots = iron rung ladder; Dotted lines = where liquids cascade to lower level (flow is to SE & SW)
***
Party have appraoched from SW.
Walkways are about 2' above the level of the sewer liquids.
