Heading to a hidden area for a moment, Locky wills the spell to end, causing her to appear, with that she joins the others and checks out the ship.

"Shall we?" She asks with a grin.

The party heads to the ship, but the way is guarded by a pair of mariners. "We must speak to the captain immediately," Imani says.

"Are you joking?" asks one of the guards. "It's the middle of the night. The ship departs first thing in the morning."

"It's kind of an emergency," Ulster says. "Um, we just remembered we left the stove burning back home in Shrentak."

"Get lost," says the mariner. "You can come back in the morning."

"What's all the ruckus?" a voice booms. A large minotaur with jet black fur walks down the gangplank. He carries a massive crossbow, big enough to serve as a ballista under normal circumstances.

"Oh, nothing, Skipper," the first mariner says. "Ain't nothing we can't handle."

"Excuse the interruption." Jerrard says with open palms, "We are aware the ship sails in the morning, however we were hoping we could board early?" The mage says calmly, keeping Mailka close. "I would of course make it worth your while." He grins. "Allow us on board, give us a corner, and somewhere for the two ladies to sleep. I will ensure you have another 25 gold."

He bows and waits for the response, keeping locky mostly hidden.

Locky stays silent and out of the way.

"Gold? Ha!" snorts one of the guards. "What would we do with such a worthless metal?"

The minotaur silences the man with a look, then turns toward Jerrard. "Would it not be easier to stay at the inn?" he asks, his voice a booming baritone. "What manner of trouble would you bring with you onto this ship?"

"Then perhaps Platinum will be more to your liking." He grins, opening his palm to reveal five Platinum pieces, "All I have left, yours if you allow us on board."

"Trouble?" He laughs, "We are just travelers who seek a way back home. This land is harsh and cruel, even the Nightmare of Silvanesti is preferable." He sighs.

(OOC: Jerrard only has 3 platinum pieces on him, or did he take some more from his stash on Dekker beforehand?)

(Can we just assume he took a few more, just to move the game on?)

The minotaur looks down at the five platinum pieces, worth twenty-five steel altogether, a fairly paltry sum as bribes go. Looking back up at Jerrard, he asks, "And should people come looking for you? Say, the constables or perhaps angry loansharks?"

"If that situation did occur, how much would make it go away?" He asks with a calm relaxed tone.

"More than you have, most likely," the minotaur responds. But after a moment of thought he says, "But perhaps a deal can be made. You are a wizard, yes? Any good in a fight?"

"I can hold my own, I was trained as a warrior before I took on the mantle of a Mage." He says calmly, "What do you have in mind?"

"There's this band of outlaws that plague the waters between here and the elflands. They force every ship that passes through to pay them a hefty 'tax' or else. Normally, we'd just fight them off, but they have magic on their side. If you and your band can help us even the odds, then we'll let you aboard and let you hide in the hold should anyone come looking for you. What say you?" asks the minotaur.
