Ooc: Dwarves get the melee bonus - not elves... Not sure about pathfinder... but it may be an eleven racial edge you can take in 2.5 (skills and powers)

OOC: I'll have to look at it- but Van is a spell slinger at heart. Sounds to be for a melee type

Boyd looks at the melee around him and presses the attack, again letting Salem move in close enough to slash and following up with his axe.
To Hit: [1d20+2] = 10+2 = 12, Damage (battle axe): [1d8+3] = 7+3 = 10

Re: Act 1, Scene 2: “The Edge and Back” (Group B: Main Game
Van shouts out, looking for the Drow, but the dark elf is long gone into the woods; his fate momentarily a mystery to the High-elf. The illusionist shouts insults at his opponent even as his staff narrowly misses the creature that felled his friend. The minotaur lays motionless at his ally’s feet, body struggling to hold on as his lifeblood slowly drains away. The beast slashes back in a fury at the elf! Vanidur neatly side-steps the blow, and the axe slips free from orcish fingers; striking the ground with an ineffectual clunk!
Meanwhile, the Orc leader continues to try to reach Boyd past his mount’s defenses. The injured bandit loses his own grip avoiding the Salem’s tusks, his axe flying past his intended target to skitter across the ground. The Dwarf returns the favor in-kind with his own axe, only barely failing to make contact. The other orc slashes at Boyd as well, the wild turns and twists of the boar keeping the blade from Dwarven flesh. Abruptly the leader seems to realize things are not going their way and seems to be preparing to withdraw.
Off in the woods, beyond the sight of the rest of the melee, Linar continues his tactical withdrawl; firing yet again at the pair of orcs chasing him down. The shaft streaks inches past the lead orc as the furious, bloodthirsty bandits are almost upon him!

Linar charges off away from the pair of orcs, no shots this time, just concentrating on putting some distance between him and them.
======
Will it be (2x 120') - (135') + 10' = 115' gap ?

Thoreau begins to move off to find Linar, but the Draw is much to far into the brush to be seen. By the time he could find him, it would be too late for the minotaur.

Re: Act 1, Scene 2: “The Edge and Back” (Group B: Main Game
Van will try again with the staff, the pluck somewhat diminished seeing how melee is not proving to be as easy as he thought... At least the beast is unarmed- for now! If only it would fall down or have a heart attack. Van would certainly take credit!
"Confounded Orcs! The lands of Tree and Hill are no place for you!" And down comes the staff!
Attack with staff: [1d20] = 7, [1d6] = 6
Nothing! Ef!

Thoreau can't see Linar but so use his tree ability and call out in eleven - " We outnumber them, surround the scum and cut them down!"

Re: Act 1, Scene 2: “The Edge and Back” (Group B: Main Game
The elven illusionist continues to shout as he takes yet another swing at the orcish bandit. His staff swings wide of the mark, catching nothing but air. The orcish leader suddenly seems to realize what trouble he is in, now weaponless and badly injured. Calling out to the others, he begins to back cautiously away from the boar. Salem, not one to let his target go easily, lunges forward with his tusks! The wily orc, however, manages to evade him. Boyd presses the attack as well, coming within inches of taking the leader’s life!
Van’s opponent seems reluctant to withdraw with one foe bleeding at his feet and another unable to make contact. Seeing himself outnumbered and his leader retreating, however, seems to make up his mind. He too begins to cautiously back away from the assailants. The final orc takes a swing at the Sundered dwarf, but cannot make contact. Seeing himself being left behind, he also prepares to disengage.
Far away in the woods, Linar abandons any attempt at firing for now; turning to speed in a bid to increase his lead on the orcs once again. The orcs, not ready to give up their prey, both press to run even faster; likewise foregoing melee for speed. One orc fails to summon the strength to catch up, while the other begins to overtake the Drow! Axe in hand, the brutish bandit matches stride with the dark elf; preparing to attack at the first opportunity!
[O3 is now within melee range of Linar, and has a melee weapon in-hand. If Linar moves away next round without using the withdraw maneuver, it will provoke a free attack for the orc against him; but the orc will have to slow to make the attack. Thus he can risk the free attack to increase his lead, or he can stop moving away from the orc and prevent the free attack and enter normal melee.]

Re: Act 1, Scene 2: “The Edge and Back” (Group B: Main Game
Boyd stares at the orcs fleeing, and although this could be viewed as a victory of sorts, there's a good chance that the orcs will regroup and come back later, if for no other reason than to erase their shame. The need to be taken down.
Besides, he's frustrated at all the missed swings he's had so far. He needs to bag an orc today. He leans forward and drives Salem toward the nearest orc.
To Hit: [1d20+2] = 10+2 = 12, Damage (battle axe): [1d8+3] = 3+3 = 6
[OOC]
It's been a long day, so my math skills might be a bit suspect, but I think that the odds of Boyd missing five rounds in a row are about 12 to 1 against. Unseen Servant hates me! [/OOC]

Van will delay and twirl the staff to menace the Orc he sees contemplating retreat. He will not take a forward action to hit. He hopes the brute will leave so he can act to help save Gar this round.
