Riverwind steps forward and puts his tracking skills to work.

Searching the ground carefully, Riverwind finds no tracks whatsoever. He does, however, find very trace amounts of slime and minor signs of corrosive damage on the floors.

Riverwind makes a Tracking check (+2) on a stone floor (-10), so he needs a 6 or less to succeed (1d20): 1, pass.

Tas resists the urge to go find the slime. However, he prompts. "If we could catch it, we could take to the bad guys and let them deal with it. We'd have to catch it first. That would be fun."

"Something cleared this? A corrosive slime? Not something anyone wants to run into in a small passage." Laurana keeps her bow ready, "All eyes open, Tas, keep a look out." She says as she moves forward slowly.

"Indeed, I am a little wary going this way now." Sturm comments as he moves with the group, "But we face this, or the Wraiths."

"Good thing we're not in a small passage then," Eben comments. The party moves forward, leaving the 20 foot wide corridor and entering the 60 foot wide corridor.

As they move onward, they find that the far end of the corridor has been caved in. Boulders the size of houses are wedged together to form an impenetrable wall.

A giant slug, over thirty feet long, is wedged amid the boulders. Sensing the party's arrival, it squeezes out and rears upward, having finally found something more appetizing then rats and their refuse for a change.
Making a disgusting, sucking noise, the slug spits a giant gob of saliva at the party. Its aim is terrible, though, and it lands ten feet southeast of Sturm. The liquid sizzles and pops as it eats away at the stone floor.

Grabbing Goldmoon's hand, Riverwind backs up, past the puddle of spit, hopefully out of range before turning to unleash an arrow.

"Stay back" is all he says.

"That's not a spider!" Tas whines and flings a stone at the beast after he moves to the side to find a nice pile of rocks. (( moves 10 away from the slug - to the side of the party ))

Eager to test out her new weapon, Tika runs forward, trying to avoid the slug's head so she can get to its left side, and slices Wyrmslayer into the slug's side.

Sturm had prepared to hold the line protecting the archers, seeing Tika bound forwards he shouts to caramon. "Cover the archers, try to keep away from its head." with that he moves to the right, avoiding the head like Tika he slices twice with brightblade at the creatures side.

"Big slug need squashing, not poking!" Magpie comments staying by Laurana using her sling.

Quickly, Goldmoon stepped back--but not too far so, for she did not want to rob her companions of the light they needed to see by.

Magpie quickly slings a stone at the giant gastropod that hits with perfect aim. However, the slug has no bones to break, and is therefore immune to bludgeoning damage. The rock simply bounces off its slimy, spongy hide and clatters to the ground harmlessly.

With a battlecry, Eben goes right for the creature's here. "Here I am, you ugly piece of @#$%! Come and get me!" He then slices with his long sword across its snout when it gets too close, causing it to squirm in pain.

Riverwind calmly moves backward a safe distance, then nocks and arrow and lets it fly. It strikes the slug right in the neck, and a gooey ichor leaks from the wound.

While Caramon moves forward to protect Laurana, wondering why he was put in the back if that was his job now, Sturm rushes forward with Brightblade in hand. The weapon carves into the slug like a hot knife through butter, splattering the Solamnic with foul-smelling ichor.

Not one to be outdone, Tika wields Wyrmslayer and heads for the other side of the slug. She slices across its hide with ease, leaving a massive gash across its side that spurted out both guts and ichor all over her and everything else in its path.

Laurana fires an arrow, but it just barely misses the creature, striking the caved-in rubble behind the slug. Tasslehoff fires his own rock, hitting the creature in the snout; but like Magpie's stone, it was a futile effort as the creature has no bones to crush.

As its life fluids spilled from its many wounds, the giant slug attempts to strike at Sturm, but finds him in an awkward position, and cannot reach him. Sturm then ends the creature's life with another strike from Brightblade. It shudders and then collapses, and the entire cavern goes deadly quiet, save for the heavy breathing of the party and the quiet sizzling of the acid the slug spat out earlier.

(OOC: Wow, Tika took out almost half of its HP in that one attack. Also, Kafen, it only had AC 8, so Tas did hit it. Unfortunately, it is completely immune to bludgeoning damage.)

"Ok that was horrible!" Laurana shouts, moving towards Caramon, "Thank you for covering, we needed a big strong warrior to protect us." She beams, moving slowly towards the creature.

"Slug no like getting squashed, me wrong." Magpie mutters, moving to collect her stone, "What does big slug eat?"
