If the group stop, Linar, arrow nocked, will blend with the shadows (HS) and cover the rear of the group for any foes visible to him (120').

"Stay, wait." She strokes Drans neck, her will imposing on the wolf as she she flattens herself agaisnt the wall. "Watch him, I take look, then come back." Bow drawn she moves as quietly as she can manage, allowing her infravision to kick in once she is away from the torches light (if possible).

Nocturno wonders what is going on at the front, but patiently waits to be called.

Elden will wait watching to see if he is needed.

Linar and Katten move beyond the edges of the light in opposite directions, letting their natural infravision take over. The Drow peers down the hall to the south to find it stretches beyond even his considerable ability to visually penetrate the dark. No threats approach to his sight or hearing.

Katten creeps forward as stealthily as her feline nature would suggest. The room beyond the scattered bedding appears messy with dirty straw and broken bits of wood and random items, but free of creatures. A natural columnar formation of stone stands in the center of the chamber, blocking her view from the entrance of the full interior.

[Int check from Katten please, at +4 so Int10+4, need 14 or lower.]

A brief inspection and strong familiarity of her prey reveas to the Feliz' keen eye that the straw and stick 'bedding' is actually just a clumsy brush cover for a wide rift in the floor. The debris is probably not sturdy enough to allow anything bigger than a goblin to cross without collapsing.

====
The pit is about 5 feet wide, so each member of the party that wants to cross would have to deal with that somehow

Katten halts, motioning for Linar to get closer. "Stupid creatures hide pit with straw, go back tell others." She pauses by the pit and waits for Linar to go to the others.

(Silly question, is Katten able to cross it?)

Linar goes up to Katten and says in elven, "I haven't understood the discussions. What's the plan?"

***
Assuming Linar is told it's to hunt a boss and there's a pit, he nods and examines the pit. Spikes? Trip wires? Depth?

"We can tie ourselves up 5ft apart, so we can jump across but still have others to hold us up if we fall." Nocturno will volunteer.

Elden will chime in, "I could toss the small one across."

katten's weight would be too much for the debris cover. she could, of course, climb the wall to pass it
climb check only if you're crossing via the wall or going physically down into it
Jordek miiiight be able to walk across normally with a successful dex check

Linar moves away a corner of the debris to get a look inside the pit. It appears to be a natural formation with narrow, wedge-shaped bottom and pointed rocks. Though it is only about 15 feet deep, it is easy to imagine getting stuck at the bottom from a sudden fall. Some scattered bones, straw, sticks and other debris lie scattered within.

Linar wraps one end of the rope round his waist and ties it off and then tries to climb around the pit.

Tying himself, a proper amount of length down the rope, Nocturno braces in case the Drow slips, and tosses the rest of the rope to Elden.

Elden scoffs at the rope.

How does 2E handle jumping lol?

[there is a jumping proficiency, but otherwise it is undetailed. i have seen good systems for it in various mags, but for this basic 5' jump across level ground i'll just call it a straight strength check with penalty for encumbrance. Nocturno is unencumbered, elden is lightly encumbered (call it -1). So Nocturno eould need an18 or lower d20 roll, elden a 17 or lower d20 roll]

Nocturno checks the knot around his waist.

He looks to Elden.
"Would you please tie off in case I fall?"

===========================================
"Yes, yes. What about you short one?" Elden looks to Jordek.

=============================================
Nocturno lines up for the jump.
Jump: [1d20] = 16

Once Nocturno is across Elden will jump. Doing a twist and a summersault landing.
