Pearl says, "Oof!" when handed the sleeping bag. She holds it over her head, so she can see where she is going.

The two then return to cage. Leena has managed to wheel the cart over after unloading all of the lumber.

Naras dumps the vegetables from her sack, but leaves the battle axe, blanket, bottle of mead, grey robes, and lamp oil inside.

========

(OOC: Maul? The one Naras handed to Leena way back?)

"Thank you, Leena. Do you think we'll get all this stuff, and these two," the kohen says, pointing at the prisoner & Agnas, "in the cart and back to town?"

=========
OOC: Yes, the maul gets dumped into the storeroom, please. From memory*, there should also be a warden's helmet, 2 shortbows, a buckler and a mace here. Anything else at this location (including the storeroom but ingnoring what's just been dumped.)?
*The notes I had, I put into the shredder. doh. Actually, I don't care. If this lot will fit, including the longswords and other weaponry we stashed away from the ealier encounters, so that we can get back to town, then we'll do it. Otherwise, we lock up the prisoner, leaving him the vegetables and the sleeping bag, and leave with the cart, kit and Agnas.

"Let's find out," Leena says. She places Agnas in the cart, then the prisoner. The cart creaks loudly under the combined weight of the two, but it does hold.

===========

(OOC: We'll say both the prisoner and Agnas are average in weight, so 170 pounds for the prisoner and 130 pounds for Agnas. This, by a really strange coincidence, is exactly 300 pounds so it's literally all the cart can carry. Any more and it will likely collapse under the weight!)

"Fair enough; well done," responds the dwarf. "Right, we're getting out of here. You two take these,"she adds, indicating the pile of the sack (battle axe, blanket, bottle of mead, grey robes, and lamp oil) and a warden's helmet, 2 shortbows, a buckler and a mace, "insofar as you can manage, and leave them in a pile just beyond the bridge at the 4-way intersection, or 'crossroads'. Then you, Leena, go and get the other cart which was near to the entrance, maybe 20' inside, dump the wood without blocking the way out and bring the cart to the crossroads. Mind the trip wire! Pearl, if there's anything in this pile," the Kohen again points at the sack etc, "that the pair of you can't get to the crossroads in one trip, then it's your task to come back and get it to the crossroads. When you get all of this to the crossroads. then I want you to get the stuff, excluding corpses, that I hid behind the log pile the north (and maybe to the west too but maybe I'm misrememering that) and add those to the pile too. Should be some weaponry, a shield and a pickaxe. Maybe a bit more. I will meet you all at the crossroads. Unless there's any problems with that, Ladies?"
Naras then starts to move the cart with the prisoner and Agnas towards the crossroads, albeit not at a very fast pace..

Naras pulls the handcart, slowly, to the first room while Leena goes ahead to retrieve the other cart and Pearl sorts through the sack she was just given.

OOC: For clarity: The party locks the two gates when they finish there.
=========
On reaching the bridge, Naras carefully tests its weight. It necessaey, she will carefully take the prisoner across first (hand and feet are still bound), and then the cart and with Agnas on board, to the cross-roads (where the group encountered foes (#1 to #4).

She thinks, ~ I've got the nice dwarven shield, ring, key, potion, wand, dwarf's journal, metal making book, & scroll. We should also end up with a battlaxe,robe, 3 longswords, shortbow, bottle of wine, 2H-sword, 2 maces, small shield, my old buckler and a pickaxe. Oh and the bloke outside had a longsword and an axe.
We also have various lockpicks and Pearl has 10gps on top of what I've got a red gemstone and a pile of cash.~

When all is gathered, the two prone place one each in a cart, with the stuff divided as evenly as possible between the two carts, but with no weaponry in the prisoner's cart, the group coninue they reach the exit, or something unexpected occurs, Naras taking the heavier cart and says "Leena, call out when you need a rest." Care is taken to avoid the trip wire, including making sure the prisoner doesnt make a lunge for it.

(OOC: Okay, so just move the shields over. I wasn't sure if you qualified them as weapons, since you can hit people with them with a "shield punch".

Anyway, I can't seem to find anywhere the weight limits with regarding to carts. Obviously you aren't carrying the full weight of the items in the carts (or the carts themselves) and the wheels help. I think I'll just say Leena can pull one--she has the same STR as Naras anyway--you'll just move really slowly. It'll probably be night by the time you return to town.)

OOC: It was to make sure there was nothing sharp that the prisoner could chaff/cut his bonds on, hence moving over the bottle. Have added in 2nd shortbow & warden's helmet bottle of mead (not going to argue about 4th longsword, can't be bothered to go through all the posts yet again.. Out of interest, I will see if I've got anything that mentions cart loads. Might take a few days though, so happy to go with 'arrive as night falls' sort of thing. Hoping to catch the halforcweaponssmith though

Cart 1
Unconscious prisoner (170 lbs)
Small shield (5 lbs)
Buckler (3 lbs)
TOTAL: 178 lbs

Cart 2
Agnas' body (130 lbs)
Long sword (4 lbs)

Buckler (3 lbs)
Pickaxe (5 lbs)
Woodcutter's axe (8 lbs)
Grey robes (1 lb)
Bottle of wine (1 lb)
bottle of mead (1lb)
wardens's helmet (2lb?)
TOTAL: 202 lbs)

=========

On the way back to town, Naras asks Leena, "Would you know if Agnas's daughter follows Gonto? And what she does for a living, too?" She follows this up with the enquiry, "Leena, if it's still vacant, would you think Agnas's daughter would want her mother's old job at some point?"
A while later, she asks Pearl, "Pearl, do any of these look special to you?" indicating the ring, wand, potion, dwarven shield & finally the scroll. She continues, "Any idea, if already enchanted, what they might do? Or be worth? And, are you able to use arcane wands or scrolls?"
***
During one of their breathers, the dwarf Appraises all of the (non-humanoid) items in the cart plus the various lockpick bits (added together from each of us), and the items carried by the dwarf: dwarven shield, ring, key, potion, wand, dwarf's journal, metal making book, & scroll, bottle of wine, 2H-sword, 2 maces, small shield, red gemstone, and 3 gemstones in a pouch. Garnet (500gps is already done.)
***
If the party get back to town, presumably cover of darkness keeps them fairly private. Naras leads them to the half-orc weaponsmith's place, hoping to catch him. She knocks on the door, and sees if it's open...

"I don't think Agnas had a daughter," Leena says. "She never mentioned one. She did have a son, but he and his wife died in the last League attack fifteen years ago. They had a child, a daughter, and Agnas took her in to raise her. Once she grew up, Agnas had a lot of free time and that's why she joined the church, to give back to the community with her golden years. As for her granddaugther, I don't really know her. I think she's some kind of merchant. She never attended services, so I never saw her much."

Pearl looks over the items, but just shrugs. "No idea," she admits. "As for wands and scrolls, I'm not sure. I've never used them before. I don't have any formal training in magic, to be honest. It's just little stuff I've picked up in my travels. I guess you could say I'm just a dabbler."

As they travel, the prisoner wakes up. He makes no attempt to escape, but just lies there silently except for the occasional groan of pain when they hit a bump. Leena attempts to interrogate him, but he refuses to answer her questions.

Naras goes over every single item she picked up, even the key of all things. (Results below.)

Re: Naras' Vignette

OOC: There was actually a second short bow (half orc bowman + elven (or half-elven) woman). I carefully said that I'll add it into the list. And then forgot to update the list (ok mobile went off.)
Naras knows that the wand can produce flame and the mage appeeared to use the command word "fire". Would this alter/enable Naras's ability to apprasie it? And can Herbalism (14) be used to gain some insight on the potion?

=========
On the way back to town, the dwarf takes a turn at interogating the prisoner, and asks "So, smith, why did your group kidnap the old woman?"
If not particularly forthcoming, she turns to Pearl, "Have you got any tunes that can loosen tongues?", nodding towards the prisoner.
***
Just before reaching town, Naras addresses Pearl, "Well, you've had some thinking time, do you want a job at the Temple?"

The man says nothing to Naras, he just sneers silently at her.

Pearl shakes her head. "I'm all tapped out tonight," she admits. "But maybe tomorrow, I have a spell that affects the mind. It might make him more talkative."

In response to this, he finally speaks. "You will get nothing out of me, even with mind control. For I know nothing. A god does not deign to tell the details of his plans to his followers."

"You're saying that even if you wanted to help us, you couldn't tell us anything at all?" asks Leena.

"You are wasting your time," he answers. "I do not fear death, for I have met god. He will welcome me into the next world. Do your worst."

==========

Naras makes an appraisal check on the short bow [TN 15] (1d20): 4, pass. The short bow is worth 30 GP.

(OOC: In answer to your questions about the wand and potion, no. Herbalism is not used to brew magical potions. (Although I will allow a successful spellcraft check to identify a potion.) And while Naras did witness a single use of the wand, it's not enough to even guess. Does the wand have other functions? How do you access them? How many charges does it have left? Maybe that was the last one and it's worthless now.

Besides which, magical items don't have a GP value in 2E. There's almost no market for them, so there's no guild law on how much they should cost. Even if Naras gets the items identified, how much they are worth will be up to her and the person she is trying to sell it to.)

"I suppose it would depend," Pearl replies. "How much does it pay? What duties would be expected of me? What are the perks?" she asks. "I'm never really seen myself as the kind of person with a steady desk job, but if the plum is sweet enough..."
