*At first, Martin's voice begins to calm Bjarg, until he hears the joke about Simon the Cowl. Bjarg screams, dives into the far southern corner (where the Rutterkin stood when the door first opened), and begins sobbing in terror.*

*The Rutterkin gives a grin resembling that of a grinning skull. He has moved close enough to Martin to be able to swing the sword, slice through the jester's shirt and skin (take 6HP damage). The Rutterkin than disappears into a 5 foot ball of darkness it has cast about itself; the darkness just reaches the tips of Martin's toes; a deep pitched voice can be heard, "Hide and seek pretty boy?"

"Classic blunder, Curly. I don't need to see you to kill you." Indeed, years of working in the theater and managing set changes on a darkened stage have trained Martin to operate in total darkness [read: Blind Fighting proficiency]. It's almost pure bluff, though. Despite his skills in the dark, he doubts his ability to defeat this beast. Time to call for backup.
"That's it, friends. Make him short!"

[OOC] Considering that the rutterkin attacked before going dark AND took the time in the same round to activate the darkness, and that I stated in my last post that Martin would defend if attacked, does he at least get a return attack during this round? [/OOC]

Bjarg is curled into a ball, knees clutched to chest, huddled beneath his shield. "I CAN sing! he mutters between tear streaked gasps for breath." The world is a cruel, merciless place for barbarians at times.

(OOC to Stik - Yes - basically just setting the stage (no pun intended) to make the melee a bit more interesting.)

/ooc Ag also was set to strike if the rutterkin made any aggressive movement/ooc
Seeing the swinging of the sword by the foul beast in front of the rainbow warrior, Ag immediately will react without hesitation and bring his sword into the fray, swinging downwards from over his own head at the head of the rutterkin. "I knew we should have killed it before it had the chance to do something..."

Sighing loudly Esse keeps her blade level. She's spent long enough hunting people to handle a little darkness..

Ignoring the lack of sight she concentrates on the senses she has.

She can smell the big warrior next to her, so she gives him a wide berth.

Using her highly skilled hearing she can hear the commotion from the battle with Martin, his clothes jangle with his movements.

Assessing where the creatures voice came from she'll carefully aim her weapon at the creature.

[ooc]No blindfighting but using a combination of her hear noise, observation, direction sense and tracking skills she should be able to figure where it is. Plus she use move silently, why should he enjoy taking away their senses? [/ooc]

She'll move up to the creature silently, her mind still full of concern for Bjarg.

Beillion moves to the cowering companion and stands guard over him. "You are safe, man!" He reassures him and looks around to get a grasp of what is going on in the battle.

His attention directed at no one in particular, Bjarg yells out "No, Dawg, I DON'T feel you!!!"

The cleric blinks. "Okay, he has lost it." Beillion moves back and gives him room. He heads back towards combat and looks for his own weapon.

(OOC- from the posts, I'm presuming that Martin, Ag and Esse's first action were to step into the globe of darkness; their second action was to use their weapons?)

*Jumping into the globe of darkness, Martin, Ag and Esse swing at the creature. Their senses not fully adjusted to the lack of sight, each one misses their intended target; Martin takes a second swing, but comes into contact with only air; Ag barely misses hitting Martin. Martin feels a short, swift breeze pass across his face.*

*Still holding Beillion's sword, the Rutterkin takes the opportunity to creep up upon Martin. The creature, however, wishes to play with Martin at first, so pokes his left arm with the sword, inflicting 2HP of damage on the jester.*

(OOC to Kafen - you lost the sword, are you going for your hammer?)

(OOC to IL - after everyone has posted their next round of action, the fear spell will lessen on you by 50%)

Esse stops swinging her weapon, her elvensight was gone, her skills obviously were failing in this darkness...

She could either stay and hurt someone, possibly one of the party, or step back and allow those who know what they are doing to deal with it.

She steps back, and waits to see if the darkness will fade, giving her a chance to adjust to the lack of light.

Martin will move back, weapons in front of him, maintaining the distance between himself and the rutterkin and sliding sideways if he comes near the wall.
If the darkness is fixed in place, rather than moving with the rutterkin, he'll attempt to draw it out of cover. Given how slowly the rutterkin has been moving, that should only take maybe four or five rounds... :)

*Beillion finds his hammer, but sees Esse withdraw from the darkness.*

*Inside, the Rutterkin takes his attention off Martin to concentrate on the huge warrior challenging him. Ag strikes true, inflicting 7HP of damage; the Rutterkin rears back which causes the globe of darkness to move with him. Martin is now out of the darkness and sees it moving away from him.*

(OOC - Ag is in darkness, Esse and Martin are now outside of the 5 foot radius. The Rutterkin is down to 8HP.)
