Rising as quietly as you can in armor, Angel nudges Elias first, his elven vision would negate the need to draw attention with lights.

"Movement, Wagon."
She nudges Daos "Watch the others, Elias, bow with me." Not waiting for the information to kick in she draws her bow and watches the creature.

(Does it look like the only one? She woke the elves because they need less sleep generally, plus Daos didn't take a watch.)

She'll ready her bow, paused to attack this creature if it makes any threatening moves, she wants to study it first, no sense in killing it if its harmless.

Daos awakes with a start, glances around, then blinks dumbfounded at Angel.

"Watch the others," she had said before running off. Getting to his feet, Daos grabs his staff and looks around the camp. What was happening? Was there danger? Should he wake up the others? He disliked having so little information. He hoped this was not some kind of prank on the mercenary's part.

Mentally, he calls up his spells and prepares to cast one if anything threatens him or those still sleeping. He should have set up a magical perimeter, but the journey had so far been quiet and even a little boring. He silently curses himself for being so lax.

Angel doesn't go far, just to the edge of the camp, she stokes Praesul first, then the other horses.
Daos can see her with his Elven vision, she is standing bow drawn, an arrow cocked, three more in the ground in front of her.

Seeing him move out of the corner of her eye she points to the wagon.

[OOC]Stables? What stables?[/OOC]

The thing appears to be alone - if there were more, you'd probably have seen them, there not being a lot of cover in the area.

It moves closer, taking a few steps towards the horse line, stopping occasionally to lift its head and sniff the air. It's head is dog-like, or perhaps bear-like, but wider and flatter. As it moves from cover to cover, you can catch a brief glimpses. It's bigger than first thought, being built low and wide, the size of a very large dog.

As it moves towards the horse line, Praesul stands up very straight, bunching his legs under him and tensing up - ready for a fight although his halter is still tied to the horse line. The animal advances to within about ten yards of the horses, then veers off, giving them a wide berth as it heads towards the wagon, angling toward the tailgate.

Although this is new to most of you, Elias, being a ranger, has seen this species before: fjellfras, a fierce predator, not usually dangerous to people, but dangerous one-on-one.

[ooc]Elias is awake yeah? Just that Tempest is a little busy....[/ooc]

She keeps the bow ready and cocked, the creature is obviously looking for a good meal, the chickens have attracted it...

Turning towards Elias she asks "What the in the name Emdalus is that?"

[ooc]Assume Elias answers with the description you just gave..[/ooc]

"Drop it if it gets any closer."

Realising its not that far away and it looks like it can move pretty quick, she prepares to fire.

[ooc]Basically if it gets any closer she'll let off two arrows, thaco 15 dmg 1d8+1,
Roll 20 dmg 6
Roll,19 dmg 2
[/ooc]

(Angel spent time in an archery unit, she could drop it at 10yards..)

[OOC] Jenara - You rolled a natural 20. Give me another to-hit and damage roll to go along with that, please. See the rule for critical hits in the second post in the House Rules thread if you are wondering why.[/OOC]

[OOC/ Tell me a little more about this thing. I'd rather not kill it if I don't have to. Can I scare it off or some such? Or is it a bit too fierce for that? Or is Angel Firing right now? ]

[ooc]Well its a Wolverine, kinda fierce but it just wants the Chickens. I'd rather not kill it either.... say don't Rangers have skills with Animals... ? She is preparing to fire, but is waiting for you[/ooc]

Angel readies her bow, taking aim at the creature, she looks to Elias over her shoulder, then checks that Daos is still there.

"What should we do?"

[OOC]It only looks like a wolverine. It's a fjellfras. It's kind of like a wolverine much in the same way that a wolf is like a coyote. In other words, bigger and meaner.
And of course you're just assuming it's after the chickens. It might be looking for something more. After all, Sallia did spend the afternoon cutting up raw meat...[/OOC]

[OOC]I suppose we're doing a bit of a time warp, here, on account of lag in Tempest's posting. If Elias recommends not shooting, Jenara can change Angel's action.[/OOC]

[OOC]@ Tempest: check your PMs.[OOC]

(Jen: Thought I'd add my comment here, The dice were rolled just in case I was unable to respond and the agreement was to kill it, Angel will be guided by Elias on this so she'll keep him covered and wait for him to act)

"We could try to drive it off, before we try shooting, though we would loose the element of surprise. It is very dangerous. It also hasn't learned much fear of humanoids like ourselves."

Angel nods, keeping the bow ready but lower "Please creatures such as this are not my speciality, my first response was to kill it, but I will let you be my guide on this, hence my reason to wake you up."

She steps slightly fowards, covering the Elf as best she can.

[ooc] Ok next few days may be a pain, two kids and christmas, I shall try to respond as best I can[/ooc]

OOC- okay Stik, here's my vague plan, and I'm curious what Elias's reaction would be, since I'm not a ranger and all. I'm thinking that we light up a couple of torches and pass them out amongst the group. What little I remember from wilderness survival tells me that animals are creeped out by fire. We get a bunch of torches and try to move the creature off as a group.

[ooc] Sounds good to me [/ooc]

"What is your plan Master Ranger? I would suggest we act now, before it eats the Chickens..."
