CH 9: To the Walls of Pax Tharkas

[Nuke]

"My ancestors had no such blade, I do not know your if you are right or wrong. I would say it is foolish to trust in that, if......there are other options. But, we seem to be in a position to try it, in order to rescue our friends."

[JadedDM]

While everyone stands around talking, Tasslehoff heads back toward the tomb of Kith-Kanan, alone and in the dark.

[Jenara]

"There is no other way, my people need our help, as do our friends.." Laurana responds to Riverwind, "I do not want to face those... things, I am still shaking from the last time."

"Me come." Magpie grins, grabbing Tas's hand she follows after the Kender, lost in the crowd.

[Jerrard]

"We should move forward." Sturm rounds the group up, preparing to move away from the slug. "Where are Tas and Magpie?" He asks, not seeing them.

[JadedDM]

The party backtracks for twelve minutes, past the tomb of Kith-Kanan, and all the way back to the fork in the tunnel they encountered before. Nothing bothers them during this time.

"Which way now?" asks Caramon.

"Which way?" Tas asks the group with a huge grin on his face as he picks up a full load of ammo from the rocks as they head back.

Tasslehoff picks up 17 stones, the barest minimum he can carry before pushing him into light encumbrance.

[Nuke]

"My best guess if to the right, with the worked stone. I assume we won't find our friends in a rough cavern."

[HorizonsDream]

Tika grips Wyrmslayer tightly as she looks down either side of the forked road. "Let's ask our leaders here. Where were those wraiths again?"

[Jenara]

"It came from somewhere near here, I couldn't tell where." Laurana blushes and glances forwards. "Could the formed cavern be like the last one with the slug? A burial chamber maybe?"

Jerrard.
"Keep on your guard. Perhaps they are looking for rest? And we are disturbing that." keeping Brightblade in his hands he moves forwards. "The formed cavern first?"

[JadedDM]

"My vote is for the 'burial chamber,' as you call it," Eben says. "Maybe we'll get lucky and find another ancient elven artifact. But also, if we're trying to get into Pax Tharkas, it makes sense to me we want to stick to areas that look constructed to get to a constructed place."

[Nuke]

"It seems as if we are agreed, to the right it is." Riverwind grips his bow as he stands next to Goldmoon, waiting for the leaders to move ahead.

[Kafen]

"We could find spiders, too!" Tas says encouragingly. He slips into the lead and scouts out ten feet in front of the group as they move.

[Jenara]

"Yes we could, Sturm, Caramon take the front Tas, be careful." Laurana keeps behind the others, allowing Tika to take her place with Wyrmslayer.

"I just feel like that sword will be the key, maybe I am wrong.."

Sturm nods at Laurana, and walks forwards slowly, scowling at the departing Kender, "Keep your eyes open Caramon, we do not know what we are facing."

The party continues on, and the tunnel breaks into the corner of an old hall, obviously constructed with care and in some distant age. A wide center aisle stretches to the limit of sight, and a row of stone doors line each side.

Rats have passed over the dust on the floor throughout the Sla-Mori, but much less often in here than in most other areas. None of the tracks approach the doors, which are supported by huge iron hinges spiked right into the stone.
